A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?

Nico bit the side of his cheek at the order from the sheriff. He wanted to do something more important, to be seen more. Not log weapons. For now he would do as he was told, but he would find a way to take charge. His attention turned back to his nephew. “Are you hoping that pretending to help out will stop the angry husbands and fathers from running you out of town.” He replied with a smirk. Oh he knew all about his nephews extracurricular activities. Mostly because the kid had stolen some of nico’s late night companions. He followed Price Vanderson ‘s gaze to the young woman, who would mostly likely be the latest victim of one of them. “here” he placed his shotgun on prices shoulder before leaning back agains the building. “Do you even know how to shoot a gun?” He asked as his lips curved in amusement.

Casey gave Mikey a smile but wasn’t sure if his new boss had caught it or not. Mikey Royce seemed to be pretty preoccupied with a camera and another male. Casey wondered if they were friends or not. But then decided it wasn’t any of his business and shrugged his shoulders. Darcy Vance caught his gaze as she walked by him. She looked so determined. All business like. A small laugh escaped his lips before he could stop it. He needed to sober up quick. Not that it was remotely a possibility. He was going to have to act inconspicuous and try to blend in. He decided the best course of action would be to follow Darcy and keep his head down. His plan was thrown off course however, by the scent of Harland Shaw. Casey couldn’t help but wonder what motivated the other wolf to join in on the cause. Curiosity eventually got the best of him, leading him over to where Harland stood. “I didn’t expect to see you here.” He commented. Not that he knew much about the man.

Madison was busy taking in all of the gossip whispering through the crowd. So far she had not heard any mentions of sirens or kidnappers. So she relaxed a bit. Cora was probably safe with her parents for right now. She was standing close enough to the sheriff to hear him give out an order and the vanerson kid try to pawn it off on her. She was a bit annoyed at Price Vanderson at first but followed his command and moved closer. She thought about giving him some kind of smart remark, but she bit her tongue. “I’m not sure how much help that I would be. I don’t even know what kind of gun this is. “ she replied instead. Playing dumb would be her game plan for right now.
Darcy gave a firm shake to his hand and brushed off her mind trying to decipher all the different scents. Naturally there were other wolves, and not just from her pack. She didn’t need to see him to recognize Harland Shaw ’s scent amongst the crowd. But it took all her self control not to visibly wince at the wafting scent of decay in the air, a vampire. She didn’t peg him to be the type to offer help for such a thing, but perhaps it wasn’t the mysterious fires that intrigued him, maybe it was a person. She sighed, remembering her encounter with the victim. “I was one of the first on the scene after the attack, it was brutal and my heart goes out to him and his family… it’ll be a miracle if he survives.” She mused, fighting off the urge to immediately deny the potential of the attack being from a bear or wolf. She didn’t need to give herself away, especially not when something this serious was a taking place. But from the look of the wounds, it wasn’t surprising for those to be the suspected creatures responsible. Her wolf knew better though. Whatever that scent was, it was not something she’d ever encountered before. Wolves, bears, even the occasional variety of wild cat, they all gave off very distinct scents. And whatever had attacked that young man was unlike anything shed ever smelled before. Not that she could share that with the Sheriff, he’d think she was crazy talking about ‘scents’ and such.
“At this time they’re telling us to treat the attack and the fires as separate cases. It’s wild considering the infected bites that young man suffered. As for the type of animal, it’s tough to say. The markings didn’t match up with those of the predatorily game we’ve tracked in this region, but again; we’re being encouraged to suspect that it’s possible we’ve missed something. It wouldn’t be the first time something got bigger than we’ve been told to expect. My best guess would be it’s definitely something in the canine family...” She trailed off slightly, letting her gaze scan across the volunteers and she shook her head lightly. “It’s the damnedest thing Sheriff, most of us are being stonewalled when it comes to the flow of information. We’re exhausting our teams working overtime trying to find the culprit of this attack, as well as the cause of the fires. Normally the fires are an easy enough case to open and close, but we can’t find anything that supports the usual reasons; no careless campers, reckless teens, or even signs of it being intentional. And while it’s been seasonably dry, its not been hot enough to suspect spontaneous combustion. Yet each fire does have a generalized starting point… I’ve never seen anything like this.” Darcy admitted with a look of genuine concern. She could only hope that whatever it was, no one gathering to volunteer would end up seriously injured as a result of trying to help. She ran a hand through her hair before pulling it back into a more manageable pony-tail, pointing out her truck.
“I’ve got some maps from the ranger station they already been marked up to show areas where fires originated and their burn radius, as well as the area where the attack took place. We can make some more copies and pass them out to try and help anyone from straying too far off the beaten path.” She looked back to Waylon Sanders , and then again at the small gathering of people waiting to be told what to do. “I’ll defer to your judgement on how to break up the groups and such, just tell me how best I can help and I’ll do what I can.” It wasn’t often and Alpha wolf deferred to someone else, but she figured it would be better to show up and offer help than try to take over the group. Plus, it didn’t hurt that it was a good opportunity to show her pack how to be a team player and work with others.

Waylon surveyed the maps as Darcy talked, he wasn't a Ranger but growing up in Sweetwater Waylon knew each and every marked spot on the map. The Sheriff had his own theories as he listened to her; the fires were probably being done by some dumb very dumb teens their sporadic nature was like a dumb kid but it was getting out of control fast. The attack, these fires made animals panic and a panicked animal got mean it got mad, he'd seen it before. He didn't say it, no, they were taking action now whatever it was would soon be dealt with.
"Fucking beaucracts Ranger, they love to keep us in the dark," Waylon looked up from the maps and scanned the crowd knowing about every face, "We'll just have to resolve this ourselves, they probably have given you about as much as I got but with a little level headedness all shall be overcome," he finished his little sermon with a confident pearly smile as he pulled a pen from his pocket, "We got a decent pool of people, I know a lot these men and women know how to hunt and track, we'll split into three teams: you'll lead one, I'll take one, and Nico over there the other," Waylon circled the attack site with his pen, "Me and my team will go to the attack site. Your team will go to the most recent fire that was started but put out," again he circled that zone on the map then another, "We'll send Nico's team to the original site of the first fire."
He tapped all three zones with his pen satisfied with the plan so far, open to any rebuttals, "I figure it will cover more ground and still leave groups big enough to cover everyone's ass if we find...this thing or persons." Waylon begins writes three names on his map: Nico Vanderson, Waylon Sanders, and Darcy Vance. He then put first names of people he saw, "Look good Ranger?"
She nodded her head in agreement with his frustrations, she knew exactly what he meant with it came to the politics of it all. Someone was always trying to keep a lid on details to lessen any potential ‘bad press’ when it came to the national parks and forests. It was a joke how often things got swept to the side instead of properly handled and investigated. Which is why Darcy preferred the field work to being a pencil pusher behind a desk, or a bureaucrat in-front of the camera. Darcy returned the smile and raised a brow as she listened to the man speak. It was clear to her how he’d come to hold the position, and it wasn’t simply based on his name. Waylon appeared to be more than capable of holding his own, which gave her a little peace of mind.
Darcy looked over the team pairings and refrained from chuckling when he managed to pair all three werewolves present on the same team. She had no reason personally to find fault with how he chose to separate them out, so she just gave a nod and handed the map to the woman she assumed was named Heidi to make a few copies to disperse amongst the crowd. “Sounds like a solid plan Sheriff. If you think we can spare the time, we can pick up a few radios at the ranger station to communicate with the various teams as need be while we’re out there.”
The ranger, Darcy, and the sheriff, Waylon put their skills together and created a game plan for how to move forward. Waylon would announce the plan to the group and everyone would be gathered in their separate groups with a group leader to give them direction on what they should do. They would all given a copy of the map of the area and told what their focus would be.
The group lead by Waylon Sanders would include Mikey Royce, Giacomo Ettore, and 10 other volunteers. They would be going to site of where the boy was attacked who now remained in the hospital.
The group led by Darcy Vance would include Casey Marshall, Harland Shaw, and 10 other volunteers. They would be going to the location of the most recent fire.

"You don't have to know what it's called, you just ask the owner." Price said to Madison Matthews, a "duh" tone in his voice. But yeah, he had noticed she was cute. Maybe she'd hook up with him later. Maybe not. He'd try later. For now, he had an uncle to try to piss off.
"Listen, Dominic," he said Nic's name the way Nic's mother, Price's grandmother, did, "I know you're here to reclaim some sense of usefulness, considering the only importance you hold to the Vanderson lineage is mucking horse stalls, but make sure to stay behind me." He glanced over to Madison and added,
"You too, toots. Old Pricey will protect you." He tossed her a wink. As for collecting and logging weapons, he didn't. That was dumb. They couldn't use them if they didn't have them, and did it really matter what they all had? The Sheriff was busy so it didn't seem Price's work would be checked.
When the teams were announced Price was both irritated and pleased. He scowled at the announcer, then said to Madison,
"Looks like you and I are gonna get close." He bounced his brows.

Harland didn't mind the groups; A) as long as he can stay away from the rot of decay and B) keep an eye out on the other pack then he was right where he needed to be. The big man was old school and he would respect the chain of command so when he approached Darcy he gave her a nod and grunted out a joke without smiling himself, "We taking the Ranger mobile?"
The arrangement ended up pretty convenient. He figured if casey was in the rangers group then surely he wouldn't have to worry about Casey getting up to some kind of trouble or getting lost. That meant he could focus on actually investigating if something supernatural was going on here. At most he figured they might be able to find whatever was attacking campers. With giacomo coming along he just hoped that they could find some clues before they got inevitably distracted.
He had the feeling that in the seclusion of the forest that their personal reunion would likely overpower his curiosity about what was out there.
He actually had an emergency radio tuned to the ranger stations frequency. It made sense to have one with how often he went out to the forest and the spotty cell service. He relayed this information and tested the radio to make sure it still worked.
Darcy chuckled at Harland as she gave a nod, adjusting her radio to the proper channel and clipping it back to her hip. She looked to Casey Marshall and gave a wave for him to join them. ”I doubt you’ll both want to ride in the cab, it’d be a tight fit. But you’re more than welcome to ride in the bed of the truck.

Paired together with Mikey Royce. How delightful this turned out to be. If Mikey hadn't been there then Giacomo likely wouldn't have helped out and regardless of what group he'd been put in he'd probably find a way to tag along with him instead, yet now he didn't have to. He looked to their group leader, the sheriff himself. Hmm. He hadn't really properly met Waylon Sanders before, he wondered how this would go. He said nothing more to Mikey at the moment but wherever he moved Giacomo seemed to casually linger nearby, like a shadow.
With radios in hand and the groups organized, the 3 groups went their separate ways to see what they could find. An hour later they had all arrived at their destinations.
Group 1 with Waylon Sanders, Mikey Royce, Giacomo Ettore and others were easily able to find where the boy had been attacked. The area was still blocked off with caution tape and it looked like everyone had clearly left in a hurry.
Group 2 with Darcy Vance, Casey Marshall, Harland Shaw and others were guided by Darcy to where the most recent fire had been. They soon reach the edge where they had managed to put out the fire, a distinct line of green foliage and blackened earth.
- Everyone please roll a 20 sided die/random number generator out of 20 and put that number at the top of your post. In your post please describe what your character chooses to do. - Team leaders should post FIRST before anyone else in their group (Waylon and Darcy). EXCEPT for in group 3 in which post order doesn't yet matter. - DM me with questions!
It was near sickening, the sight of scorched earth and trees; what used to be lush green forest. The smell alone made Darcy want to cry, and she wasn’t an overly emotional gal. But these forest had become quite the place of comfort to her over the last three years, not just as her work with the Rangers, but as her wolf. The sight before the group was one she hated to see in her line of work, but sadly one that did come to pass more often than not. But there was still something different about these fires that made her feel off.
“Don’t break too far from the group, and give a holler if you find anything unusual.” Darcy instructed the group and shook her head with a sigh as she looked over the scene once again. Taking deep breaths to try and pick up any other inexplicable scents.

Waylon and his team took three cruisers to the site of where the attack took place, Mikey Royce and the mystery of a man that was Giacomo Ettore were squeezed into Waylon's Bronco. Upon their arrival Waylon split the team once again sending one to South of the yellow tape line and the other to the north, and Waylon with Mikey, Giacomo, and two experienced hunters would go behind the yellow tape. He instructed his party to radio in every ten minutes, then over the radio he advised that each head of the parties check in every half hour.
"Stay close folks, anyone of you two got any experience with guns?" Waylon asked Mikey and Giacomo, "I'm Waylon Sanders by the way," he offered his hand to Giacomo.
