03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
He had been adjusting his camera again this time to account for the air getting smoky rather than just dark. Might make for some cool shots. Especially if it turned out to be something actually supernatural. Though he might not go plastering the pictures anywhere if it really was more than a rumor. His head snapped up as he heard Harland Shaw 's question. Giacomo Ettore put himself between Mikey and the clearly disapproving man. However Giacomo tended to do this for even minor things so Mikey didn't catch the tip off that the man might not be just human. He stepped to the side so that he could stand his ground since he too could tell the man was really only aiming his disapproval at Gia. " Don't you think right now is a weird time for formal introductions." He cut in sardonically. "What's it to you anyway? You think you own the damn town or something?" Of course, he had no way of knowing that Harland was upset because Giacomo is a vampire. All he knew, was that a grown man with a sour expression was approaching his effeminate very goth friend like he meant business. He also had no idea who this guy was. He didn't really look the 'accepting' sort though. Not that he had any doubts that a human could actually hurt Gia but he didn't want the vampire to have to deal with a random interrogation. It was Giacomo's more eccentric qualities that Mikey had been initially drawn to in the first place. It had helped him deal with his own trouble from other Sweetwater natives.
whatever Harland did next he could only half pay attention to as he heard some unmistakable snapping in the distance. His eyes looking away from where they had been locked on the Harland to try to see the source of the noise. Then came the growling. holy shit. was it actually a wolf of some kind? whatever it was it was either very fast or ....even worse "is there... more than one... ?" of whatever the hell this was? He readied his camera and was bodily grabbed by Gia. It seemed things were really about to kick off. He allowed Giacomo to man handle him but paradoxically he found himself way more excited than frightened about glimpsing the unknown.
He just hoped he could keep his camera steady if Giacomo did decide to make a run for it (with him).

Darcy’s gaze shifted to Harland as he seemed bothered by the presence of the vampire. Darcy shook her head, he wasn’t in her pack and that wasn’t an issue she needed to involve herself in, not right now. The dark smoke wasn’t a good sign, especially not when like Ferris had said; the darker the smoke, the more dangerous. She looked at Ferris, giving a nod but unable to hide the fearful look in her eyes. Something wasn’t right.
The smell was familiar, but not because she’d encountered it before, but rather had stumbled upon the lingering scent at previous sites of other fires. The inexplicable ones. As if on instinct, the hair in the back of Darcy’s neck rose and she couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that began to build in her gut. She had just approached Ferris Felwinter , when she quickly whipped her head toward the left as a snap happened, finally feeling like she might have pin pointed the scent-
She snapped her head to the right, her eyes still not able to make anything more out. But she could hear it. Or rather, them. She growled lowly, this wasn’t good. “Those aren’t wolves…” She whispered, her body practically vibrating from the sheer adrenaline as she felt the familiar feeling of fight or flight, clearly fight being what her body was primed for.

Harland looked at the human with sympathy, they always truly failed to see what kind of predator a vampire truly posed and by the way he defended the vamp meant perhaps the vampires fangs were already attached. The distraction warranted a grunt from Harland and he turned away not in heavy surprise but defensively as the hairs on the back of his neck rose a deep grumbling growl that sounded like tossed rocks escaped him.
"Don't run but everyone needs to leave," the strongest smell of sulfer and maybe gas filled Harlands strong sense of smell, he was ready to change and fight but he couldn't just so that in front of these people.
"Darcy you and him," the him was Giacomo, "Need to get everyone out of here..."

Price was minding his own when suddenly the sound of breaking branches met his ears, and the smell. For a simple human like him, both did a very effective job of producing a quick, potent fear.
“Fuck!” He yelled as he surged forward, squeezing up to the front where the sheriff was, getting close to those who seemed most confident and competent. “Fuck was that?” He pulled the gun (bb gun) from his waist and turned frantically. “Shit, man, if anything happens to me my dad will have your badge.” Who knew if Harland Shaw even heard what the frantic little douche was saying.

Ferris heard some of the conversation behind him, but in tense moments like these, he made quick choices about what to listen to. Harland's concerns over what the artist was doing here didn't make the list. The smoke was thicker, slight darker, though try as he might with his vision, he couldn't see much through the trees. He could assume it was getting worse though, if from nothing else but the density on either side.
The sharp snap of branches and the growls, followed immediately by Price's terrified swearing were more than enough to trip that internal mechanism for Ferris, triggering his mental armor and focus. Mikey and then even more so Darcy's words beside him filtered through loud and clear. He could feel the tension of her body and suspected what she wanted. He nodded at her, deciding it was best to follow her instincts. Ferris understood from the last time being out in the woods with Darcy, but he wasn't going to leave her two on one. He pulled his gun from his shoulder, checking it was ready with deft hands and backed up a few steps to put himself between the growls and a very protective Giacamo over Mikey.
Of all the people here, Harland ordered Darcy and the artist to escort the rest of them away. The implication wasn't lost. "Keep together and back up," he growled to the group, more or less in agreement with Harland, though he spared a glance for the Sheriff's insight.

Waylon had broke away to read the map of their current area, he was a cop and not a fire fighter the smoke wasn't a big deal for him but they were close to finding maybe a source especially if this one was much more recently set. He had to keep these people safe that was his job, when the branches snapped Waylon all but forgot his task. Fires like this were bound to stir up all manners of creatures especially territorial ones.
Waylon pulled his service weapon and he stepped out in front of Harland, "Listen Har, if we run it'll make'em want us more, everyone converge in back to back, if you have a weapon aim it out at the tree lines..watch your cross fire," instinctively Harland would be protective of these people moving closer to Giacomo and Mikey, "Take this Harland," Waylon laughed even with the situation which in all reality Waylon didn't sense any kind of true danger...it was a woodland critter, the group was large and most had guns so they could stand off with whatever.
There were plenty of commands given but only one with authority. While the sheriff directed them all to move into a circle with their backs towards the center to stand at the ready, it was yet to be determined how many would have actually listened to that direction because they would end up having no time to actually do so. Nor would they have a chance to do much of anything though Giacomo Ettore and Waylon Sanders would faintly notice the sound of some kind of running water in the not far distance in a westerly direction.
With a flash of movement and a snarl, a monstrous creature leapt at Price Vanderson, it's fiery jaws snapping onto his leg below the knee where a snap could be heard by those closest to Price. It was canine-esque in appearance but clearly something not of this world. It was about the size of a lion (image for size) though with skeletal like features despite being thick and muscular, it's bones more sharply pronounced than it's muscles and it seemed to glow from the inside out with a hot flame. Black smoke curled up from it's body and with each step it made it left a scorched path of black under it's giant paw.
The hound didn't release Price's leg but started to drag the boy away from the group towards the west.
In the distraction of the first hound a second would appear nearly silently from behind. While Mikey Royce was protected from the front, he was left exposed from behind and the young man would suddenly find himself face down on the ground as the second hound had snapped at his foot from behind and also started to drag him away in the opposite direction of Price, towards the east.
- Price's leg is broken, specifically both the tibia and fibula pretty much right in the middle of both bones. It's not a clean break but broken into several pieces. - Mikey's foot was grabbed but so far his wounds are more superficial. - They are being dragged in opposite directions. - Price Vanderson and Mikey Royce should post first then it's open post order.
He watched the creature emerge with shock. He wasn’t exactly fond of the Vanderson kid but that looked nasty. He didn’t have too long to mull on it though.
Mikey instinctively turned as he felt the heat before he saw it. Because he was still in shock or because his sense of self preservation was zero, Instead of running away he lifted his camera and rapidly fired some shots. He was still in kind of a daze at the demon wolf thing clamped down on his boot. Never had he ever been so thankful for the integrity of a steel toe hiking boot. His face smacking the dirt and grass was what woke him up to how bad this was. He tried to grip onto something as he was dragged away but his arm strength was a lot less than this thing's grip strength. A string of obscenities poured out of his mouth. “Oh shit! Shit shit shit oh fuck” His mind a little too preoccupied to yell anything useful like ‘help’.
He switched tactics and instead tried to reach down to loosen the tie on his boot in the hopes that the boot coming off might throw off its grip enough to get away. If he managed to live he guessed he would owe a pretty big apology to Giacomo Ettore for not leaving when they recommended it earlier. He also decided that he definitely wasn't going to tell Seung Royce if he made it out.

The sound that left Price’s mouth when an unseen (to him) force closed around his leg, breaking bones, was almost inhuman. He’d never experienced such pain. He was seeing stars. Howls continued to erupt from him as his hands clawed, trying to grab anything to keep from being taken into more of this blinding pain.

Ferris heard the order to circle up, and while more than ready to do so, everything happened fast after that. The smoldering hound, while not the only strange beast Ferris had seen in these woods, was certainly just as startling as a giant wolf contorting into a woman, and far more terrifying. He left the terrorized shouting to Price, instinctively aiming his gun the beast that pounced on Price and began dragging him away. He stepped to the side to try and get a clear shot at the beast around Darcy and the sheriff.
Only to hear Mikey's frantic shouts behind him, making the decision of pursuit for him. Ferris spun, focused on his friend, and rushed after him. He managed to keep their distance close at first, trying to get an angle on the hound's body but not wanting to risk hurting his friend. Only if Mikey managed to lose the beast's grip, Ferris only needed two seconds to stop and shoot it. He would aim for the neck and chest, put off by the skeletal head.
He found himself really wishing for a high-powered water hose at that moment, rather than bullets.
The next chain of events happened so quickly, it didn’t quite make sense why Darcy felt like she was responding in slow motion. The sound of bones snapping and the scent of blood hitting her senses hard. The desire to change into her wolf form so tempting at the sight of the smoldering beasts. But she couldn’t reveal herself to so many people, regardless of those who knew already or not. She didn’t need to become another potential target for anyone who might be a bit trigger happy.
Despite the momentary panic at the sight of Ferris running off in the other direction, she couldn’t change her direction. Someone needed to stop whatever had Price. He was hurt, and if that thing got too far ahead there was no telling when might happen. Darcy gave one last pained look in the other direction before she ran after Price and the giant hound dragging him off.
Adrenalin pumping at full speed, she chased after for a moment before lifting her gun and taking aim for the beast. She left off two rapid shots, still running and just praying that at least one shot landed and startled the beast enough to release the young man.

Everyone's attention was drawn to Price as the first monster made it's attack, even Giacomo's. It was the sound of Mikey Royce muttering curses that drew his attention back to the young man and his predicament. This one only had Mikey by the foot, that was lucky at least. A low growl rumbled in Giacomo's chest and he bared his teeth, though his fangs remained retracted. He wasted no time and didn't bother trying to hide what he was as he used his inhuman super speed to reach Mikey in little more than a second. He landed on his hands and knees literally straddling Mikey as he wrapped his arms under the man's arms and around his shoulders just as he kicked out with his super strength to aim to land a blow at the monster's face so it would release Mikey.
If it did so then Giacomo would lift Mikey into his arms and speed away again though not directly towards the group, instead he would follow the sound of the running water he heard and would stop at the bank of the water before setting Mikey down and checking him over desperately for any major injuries from the monster or from being dragged. "Are you alright?" he asked, eyes stern with worry as he moved to take Mikey's face in his hands, turning it side to side to look for wounds.

For a split second Waylon froze, he'd never in his adult life seen such a creature that had sprung upon them. Old military reflexes kicked in pushing past unforseen PTSD that had come from his service he raised his gun and began firing at the beast his better trained aiming placing his shots in the front right shoulder. A whole clip would be dumped and Waylon attempted to reload.
Every wild fiber of werewolf in Harland stood on end, a growl escaped him and the split decision hit him to shift secrecy be damned and if they were lucky the non-supernatural folks amongst them would understand his decision was more helpful than harmful to their mental conception of the change. He knew they wouldn't understand so he opted for his plan B.
Harland had never seen nor smelled a beast like this and he had a feeling bullets wouldn't affect the creature, hurt, sure but drive the thin away? Harland had been shot once and it just pissed him off. He ripped his jacket off and began running away from the scene waving his arm with the jacket and firing the small revolver Waylon gave him, he hooped and hollered trying to distract the one that had the Vanderson kid...
...if the beast took to the bait Harland would dash into he tree line away from the group and begin his shift, but if it didn't Harland would hit the tree line away from prying eyes and shift. He'd rush back in as his werewolf form and charge the creature...
Giacomo Ettore reached Mikey Royce before anything else happened and easily managed to stop the progression of the young man being dragged on the ground. His kick hit it's mark and the hellhound was pushed back roughly with Mikey's shoe still between it's teeth. Ferris Felwinter then quickly followed with a couple of shots which hit their mark while Giacomo and Mikey disappeared to the stream, still just visible to the others through the trees.
The hellhound, now angry, tore the shoe to pieces leaving only the steel toe intact before it growled and began to stalk towards Ferris.
Price Vanderson, with painfully broken bones, would not be so lucky as to be left unharmed. Darcy Vance and Waylon Sanders shot their guns at the same time, nearly all of them hitting the wolf. The creature barely reacted. No whimper of pain left it. But it did stop and release Price's leg. The growl that rumbled in it's chest seemed to heat up some fire within as it's chest started to glow and it angrily took a step towards Darcy and Waylon before the sound of Harland Shaw caught it's attention. It made up it's mind quickly and it took off after Harland, soon the both of them had disappeared beyond the tree line.
