03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
The internal rage Darcy was feeling was beyond frustrating. Not only had Waylon returned, guns blazing; he’d left Price unattended. Giacomo didn’t seem too bothered about revealing his vampire skills to the group, running in with a damp jacket and managing to throw the hell hound on the bank.
Dammit.
It wasn’t so much that the hound handed landed in the water, but that Ferris was now headed in that direction. She shook her head as she managed to find control of her legs again and headed in the same direction. How she hated that she couldn’t run faster than the average human. But she pushed herself and was figuring they were just trying to push the thing in the water.
It was somewhat comforting that Giacomo had phrased it in such a way. He still felt guilty for asking the vampire to put himself back into danger. Even if Gia was stronger and faster he imagined that a creature like that could probably take a chunk if it tried hard enough. Still he didn’t want to lose someone again so soon. Gia also seemed to have an idea for a more permanent solution. Which was great considering that the sheriff and the ranger had shown up. He wasn’t sure if that meant they had handled the other situation or…? No, it didn't look like they had much more of an idea how to deal with it, considering Waylon was just shooting at it. Shooting really did not seem to help. He watched Gia hook and throw the hound towards the water with a little fist pump. Yeah! That could work. Only to have his excitement short lived as He saw Ferris run after it to try to push it with his hands. Shit. He hopped into the creek to make his way towards Ferris and the hound. He figured the water of the creek would deter the hound from making a jump at him. And if it didn't, well…that was sort of the goal right now anyway. at least landing in the water would probably distract it enough to prevent being totally mauled.
Lucky for Ferris, the hound was still entangled in the coat by the time he reached it and had even stumbled itself closer to the creek bed. With one good push the creature tumbled the rest of the way into the water and being still stuck in the jacket it was not able to find its footing to try to get out again. A burst of steam sizzled from the water and into the air and by the time Mikey and Darcy got there, the only thing left was Mikey's jacket floating on the surface of the water.
Not too much longer after that Harland came back, back in his human form and limping. His face and jaw had burn marks on them and he told them a similar story of how the creature had only been destroyed once he got it into the water.
NARRATIVE COMPLETE - No post order and don't need to wait for other to post before posting again. Feel free to have them discuss for as long or as little as you want but we can call this thread pretty much complete. ^.^

Only once Gia saw the steam starting to come up did he walk over to the rest of the group, this time at a normal pace. He looked totally normal, not out of breath or sweating from the exertion. He put his hands on his hips as he looked at the floating jacket and then over to Mikey. He considered whether he ought to say what he was pretty certain he knew or to keep it to himself. He knew there were werewolves in this group but he also knew there were humans and if he hadn't already then he would only make people more suspicious if he gave information on a supernatural creature.
He looked over to Ferris. If these weren't the only hounds there were then people like him would benefit by knowing exactly what they were facing. He looked over to Darcy, and then at Waylon still in the distance and Harland making his way back. He didn't think of himself as being very selfless but he made a rare choice and chose to give others information that could benefit them even though there was a chance this would come back to hurt him.
"Hellhounds," he said, looking at Mikey for a long moment before looking to the others nearby. "That's what these were. I'm sure of it."
Darcy stopped herself short watching the steam fizzle up from the water. What was that? She’d never seen a beast like this before and debated on how this should be brought to discussion with the pack. It was definitely something she’d need to talk to Rhett about. She ran a hand through her hair with a slow exhale as she looked between Ferris and Mikey, then shifted to turn to Giacomo as he approached. His scent catching her attention before he reached them.
Her concerns about discretion were suddenly gone when he shared with the small group what the creatures were, her jaw nearly dropping as she glanced back in the direction of the damn jacket. “Wait, hellhounds are real?” She suddenly wished she had something stronger than water on her person to drink.
“I thought hellhounds were just a scary story told around campfires…” She trailed off as her eyes moved to Mikey. She didn’t know him, or just how much he knew about the supernatural species. Though, she knew his sister was a werewolf. Did he know? Her eyes then fell upon Ferris, a feint smile pulled at the edges of her lips as he seemed intact, her body relaxing more.
She needed oh, so much more alcohol in her system right about now.

Ferris managed to avoid majorly burning himself, which he had to thank Mikey's jacket for. Still, even shoving the hound and getting so close to its heated jaws, he could feel the hair on his hands and arms singe. Could smell it. But as tense as the moment he'd confronted the beast had been, Gia and the water had the thing so off balance that one good shove and it was over. Well, half over. He stood in the edge of the stream, water slowly soaking his boots unnoticed as he stared, watching the beast melt, the water boiling around it. Which was finally enough to snap the Fire Chief out of it and step out of the water. He watched the jacket float down the stream and snag on some rocks.
He trudged over to retrieve Mikey's jacket, wringing it out slightly. He looked across the water at his friend. "You in one piece, Mikey?" And then Giacomo named the beasts and Ferris looked from him to Darcy and back, watching the artist's eyes. That man knew something, Ferris could feel it. Combined with what he'd witnessed before... But he himself wasn't supposed to know things. About Darcy or anyone else. Outing that he did would beg the question of how. "What else do you know about them?" He demanded urgently, glancing at Darcy but keeping his focus on Giacomo, Mikey's jacket gripped tightly in one hand.
He turned at the sound of footsteps, noting Harland. The man seemed a bit worse for wear around his jaw and the limp was concerning. But if the other hound was dead, then for the moment they were safe. "You alright? Where's Price?" He asked the man, getting what information he could. As much as he wanted to know what was going on in the forest with these hellhounds, the young man was the only one unaccounted for, seriously hurt, and alone. He didn't aim to leave him that way. "Rest here a bit, Harland. We'll be back. Giacomo, we walk and talk. We need to get Price." He turned to Darcy finally, digging in his pocket for his keys to offer her. "Darcy, your truck or mine, grab first aid and if you can, drive back to us." He doubted either of their trucks would make it too far in the trees, but he could hope.
It took every ounce of her self control not to rush her friend and hug him. Well, that or punch him. She couldn’t believe how reckless he had been. But right now with all these other people she didn’t need to get into anything. Especially because being friends and fuck buddies didn’t give her the right to feel as heated as she was.
Instead, she caught the keys he tossed to her and then shot a glance to Harland and his injuries, she knew she was more likely to find burn aid in either vehicle, but she’d decide when she got there. “Price was in that direction when I tended to him last… it’s… not pretty.” She admitted, with a quick glance to Ferris. “I stopped the bleeding, but he wasn’t conscious when I saw him.” She said and shrugged out of her pack, handing it to him.
“Plenty in there to tend to his immediate needs until I get back.” She said with a firm nod and then started running off in the direction of the vehicles. She wouldn’t be able to get either of their trucks out this far, but she could call and get one of the rangers headed out this way with an ATV. She whipped her phone out to call David, one of the other rangers working today.
He turned to see Ferris holding his wet, somewhat charred jacket. It would be an interesting souvenir that was for certain. He offered a reassuring smile. “Couldn’t be better. Can’t say the same for the Camera.” He held up the camera with the damaged lens and gave it a little shake. The last throes of adrenaline were wearing off and he suddenly felt much calmer but also exhausted.
Then he caught the vampire’s eye as the man approached them. Mikey watched Gia for a long moment, he could see that the vampire was making some kind of decision. Then he shared the name of the beast openly. He wondered exactly how much the guy intended to share now that he had opened the door. Mikey was vaguely aware that in the heat of what had happened Giacomo had done a few things that weren’t quite human. Then again the whole situation had been odd enough he doubted the assembled group would choose to focus on the man’s speed in a time of need.
“Right, I’ll wait here. I’ll uh give you a ride back later, Gia.”

The female werewolf, Gia had already forgot her name, was shocked to hear about hellhounds. He wasn't surprised. Though werewolves could live at least twice as long as a human, it was nothing compared to the immortality of a vampire and hellhounds were not particularly common. "I've only encountered them one other time. I don't know what would have brought it here." Well, perhaps he did have a small idea but it just a theory.
It was Ferris then who took charge. I was a name he made a point to remember because Mikey cared about him. For good or for bad, he wouldn't forget Ferris' name. He had to admit he admired the man for being able to take over control when others failed to do so. When the fireman told him to join him so they could continue this conversation, he hesitated stubbornly for a moment, looking back at Mikey. He didn't move to follow Ferris until Mikey said he'd give him a ride back, thereby ensuring they would be back together shortly.
"We won't be long," he told Mikey and moved to follow after Ferris as they went to fetch the foolish human boy.
"They aren't common creatures," he said to Ferris as they walked. "There isn't a lot known about them in general. Water is obviously a weakness. They don't tend to stay in large packs so to only see two of them is unsurprising. I suppose it's possible there could be more but I wouldn't be surprised if there is not."

Ferris tossed Mikey's jacket back at him, offering a grimace for the camera. That was probably expensive, but it was replaceable. Mikey wasn't. He hadn't been sure if Mikey would want to stay with his friend or not, but he nodded as he explained he would wait. "Help Darcy get Harland back to the cars." He nodded as Giacomo said they would be back soon. The fire chief was less and less of a fan of these woods and had no intention of hanging around any longer than necessary.
He accepted the pack from Darcy but was already walking away as she continued. As far as Ferris knew, no one present was a doctor or nurse. The best thing to do would be to leave Price where he was until one such arrived. But without knowing for certain there weren't more hellhounds about, or perhaps the risk of another fire (the place still smelled like smoke) Ferris didn't want to take a chance. He didn't pay attention to whether Giacomo followed him or not. Either he would and this would be easier, or he wouldn't. The sound of his footsteps and then his continued answer to Ferris' question was reassuring on a number of counts. He listened to the man's clear tone. Knowing it was likely just the two was reassuring. He grunted in soft acknowledgment that he had heard him. "No idea why they were here? What about how to prevent more from showing up?" As they neared the area he'd seen Harland and Darcy run to, he searched around for Price, quickly noting one of his boots sticking out from behind a tree and some brush.
Ferris checked him over quickly, glad to know he was still breathing and in one piece. A bit of a mangled piece not unlike Mikey's camera, but alive. He checked the tourniquet Darcy had applied, then knelt behind him and looped his arms under Price's shoulders. "Giacomo, right? You mind using some of that super strength of yours?" Oh, he'd noticed. Sure, he was fast, but he'd also managed to whisk Mikey away like he weighed nothing at all. That's not how adrenaline worked. "Take his knees carefully, and lift to about chest height on three." If it was just him, he'd have opted to carrying him like a backpack, but at least this way, Ferris was the one really taking most of Price's weight.
Thankfully, when Darcy had asked Waylon to call for an ambulance, the sheriff had, and it was likely Gia could hear the sirens already. But short of carrying Price, they would need an off-road vehicle and Ferris didn't have anything like that at his disposal. But between himself and Giacomo, they should be able to carry the boy to somewhere safer.

"Rumors and legends are pretty wide spread in different parts of the world as to what the purpose of a hellhound is. Some say it's the devil himself in hound form. Some that it's the result of a curse put upon a specific person and the hound won't leave until they've achieved the kill. Some that they are guards to the entrance of the underworld. It would be a challenge to figure out what their goal truly is, but if you ask me, they were probably drawn to Sweetwater by the supernatural aura of the town." Just like the way all the other supernaturals were drawn here for the same reason. Something about Sweetwater just had a pull for monsters. Not that he explained that. He didn't know what Ferris might know or not know about all that.
"As far as keeping them away, the legends are just as widespread as anything else. Rituals or spells are often suggested, though most are bullshit."
They reached Price and at Ferris' comment about his strength Giacomo lifted one corner of his lips in a coy smile. He would have suggested that he just take Price on his own but perhaps it would be better for the boy to be carried by two given his injuries. He did as Ferris asked, lifting Price on his count of three as they started to move towards where the ambulance could meet them.

The Fire Chief found the man's information fascinating, if largely unhelpful. Part of him did find the list of legends amusing (he had a feeling if he Googled hellhounds, he'd gets some random pop culture hits that would vary just as much). If not for the tone with which Giacomo leveled this information, he wouldn't believe him. the man trying to ensure both they and the town was safe from this threat going forward was less impressed. Killing the devil, lifting a curse, or (of the three it actually felt the most likely considering the reveal of there being werewolves and who knew what else around) finding the entrance to the underworld and making a deal with Hades to call off his pets, were all very daunting tasks. Ones Ferris had no interest in.
The whole 'supernatural aura of the town' bit was what really clicked. It was the most concrete information the artist had given him. That Giacomo knew there was something going on in Sweetwater. Most likely because he was part of that something. "You're saying to add it to the pile of Penny and that illness I heard about?" Ferris hadn't been around for the later. But he had spent months helping look for that little girl only to come up empty like everyone else. "These hellhounds feels a lot more...tangible than all of that," he admitted. "Fresh out of magic spells. You don't happen to know any, eh?" He confessed and asked the question in his usual focused tone, but he was indeed joking. Mostly. He wouldn't put it past anyone to be a wizard, at this point.
Ferris only studied the man a moment when he didn't defend himself. Whether Giacomo could move Price on his own or not, Ferris wanted to try and keep the young man level. And he didn't want to ask that of Giacomo. It was enough to make it clear to the man he knew what he'd seen. He wasn't going to force him to show his hand further.
