03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
Ida was laughing as Ellis D. turned the truck into a road hidden by the trees. On the ride over, things between them had settled back into their normal rhythm. As soon as they pulled away from prom, it was like they’d hit a reset button. Being with Ellis D. was so easy. When you knew someone so well they just became an extension of yourself. They were chatting and laughing with the radio churning. Cool night air blasted through the windows - Ida sticking her hand out in the wind. She knew that she couldn’t avoid her feelings forever, but for now she was happy to just exist.
After they turned off the main road, the trees were dense as they made their way down a narrow stretch of packed dirt. This wasn’t an “official” way to the lake, per say. But once they came to the end of the winding, bumpy stretch they were spat out onto a patch of grass in front of a wide, empty stretch of pebble beach. Secluded, but open so you could see the stars. And - later - shoot off some fireworks.
The truck’s headlights shone on the still, dark water. When Ellis D. killed the engine, the moon was still bright enough to see by. It turned everything pale and silver, the stars abundant and twinkling in the night sky. They sat in silence for a moment before Ida turned to him, opening her mouth to say something. But seeing Ellis D., she felt a ripple of electricity run through her, stopping her before words would come out. Take it easy, she reminded herself. You’ve come this far, don’t fuck it up now. Journey and Milo would be here soon she was sure, so she had to set the tone. Ida smiled and cocked her head. “Fancy a swim?”

As nice and swell and all that as prom had been, pulling Hank’s truck out of the school’s parking lot was a far more preferable turn in Ellis D.’s evening. A warm almost summer night, air from the open windows hitting his face, and a girl in the passenger seat. It was bliss. In the past that girl had been Alexis, but tonight it was Ida. Ida was easier. More comfortable. Less pressure.
The spot he was taking them to was THE spot. All the kids knew this was one of the best stretches of lake. Bonfires were held here, and Ellis D. was certain more than five girls had lost their virginity here. The land was charged. It promised a good time in whatever capacity the fun seekers desired.
Ellis D.’s eyes were on Ida before he turned the car off. An easy smirk rest on his lips, prepared for whatever she had to say. When her eyes met his he felt it too—the electricity—and his face grew a little more sober. It wouldn’t be hard to lean over and place a kiss on those familiar lips. He unconsciously caught the corner of his lower lip between his teeth. The silence didn’t last.
“Yeah, let’s.” The moment passed as quickly as it had come. Ellis D. set the keys on the dashboard and eagerly climbed out of the truck.
Like a shot, Ida jumped from the car and hopped down. "I'll race you!" She shouted from the other side of the truck, kicking off her shoes and chucking them through the window into the backseat. Ida pulled the pins from her hair, her curls tumbling down around her face. She reached over her shoulder, feeling around for the zipper. Ida felt her fingertips just barely graze it. Reaching around her other shoulder, she strained trying to grab a hold of it. No use. Amateur, she thought. This is why we never we never wear nice things. Sheepishly, Ida slunk around to the other side of the truck, her heart beating a little faster. She turned her back to Ellis D., pulling her hair to the side. "I need you." There was a pause, then a realization that her meaning wasn't clear. "For the zipper. I can't reach."
Once @journey had come back from the bathroom he had told her about Ellis D. and Ida's invitation to join them at the lake. They stayed at the dance for a little longer they got back into the beat up old sedan that Milo drove and headed towards the lake. It was a great night for a drive and Milo rolled down his window to enjoy the fresh air, unaware that it might mess up his date's hair.
"You don't mind, do you?" he asked as they drove, wondering if he had overstepped by saying yes to going to the lake.
(Since Milo and Journey are still on their way feel free to keep going without waiting for us for now )

Ellis D., accustomed to Ida’s antics, grinned as he wordlessly took her up on that race. He started with the buttons at hurt shirt—he’d already discarded the jacket—while his feet went toe to heel to pop each shoe off. His shirt and shoes were off and he was removing his belt when Ida slunk around the car. Defeated.
“Hello no.” Ellis D. countered, removing his belt like a whip, tossing it in the truck window where he had also cast his shirt, and looking back at Ida as he began to unbutton and unzip his pants.
“We’re racing. I’m not gonna help the enemy.” He smirked wickedly at her and promptly pulled his pants down and off his legs, leaving him in only black briefs and black socks.
Ida scrunched up her nose in comic frustration. So this is how it was going to be, huh? She flashed a sideways grin. "The nerve. The absolute nerve." Ida flailed around, reaching for the zipper, at one point hopping on one foot - as if that would help. She glimpsed Ellis D. out of the corner of her eye. He had stripped off and was almost ready to head towards the water. Feeling the heat rising in her face, Ida began to flail more fiercely, finally catching the zipper and yanking the dress free. Heavy with sequins, the garment fell to the pebbles with a rustling sound. The night air hit her skin, making her shiver. Ida made a noise of triumph, and turned to Ellis D. Normally she was guarded about her body, but the spirit of competition had made her cocky. Besides, it wasn't like it was anything he hadn't seen before. "How do you like me now, jefe?" She winked and gave him the finger, then started sprinting to the water.

Ellis D. removed his socks and would have taken off for the water, only Ida's display was pathetic. He was just about to help her, about to reach out his hand to grab that zipper, when she pushed herself further and accomplished it on her own. He didn't--couldn't--refrain from watching the way the fabric slipped off of her form, revealing the Ida beneath. Sure, he'd seen her body before, but never quite like this. Not out in the open, with enough light to count the dimples and the freckles if he'd wanted to. Not looking at each other this way, as opposed to faces pressed together and inhibitions ignored.
He wondered if she was going to keep her undergarments on.
Then she took off, and Ellis D. was on her heels. He easily overtook her, his long legs aiding him in his victory to the lake. He splashed in with nothing short of a goofy laugh, then promptly turned to start splashing her. The water was pretty cold.
Cold water slapped her on the side of the face. Ida yelped in surprise and merriment as she marched into the water. She smacked the surface with her hands to return fire, but Ellis D. was too far away. Ida was getting close to the point where she would need to stand on tip toe. "You've done it now." She laughed, reaching her arms out, trying to grab him. "Now you shall face the wrath of the lake lizard."
The strapless bra she'd been wearing was slipping down, soaking with the cold lake water. Ida growled in frustration as she tried to readjust it while swimming. Ever the practical one, before she was able to give it a second thought she reached back and unhooked her bra. Ida held it above the water and swung it around like a lasso, letting it go so it flew towards the shore, landing among the stones.
"The lake lizard cometh." Ida began taking long strokes towards him, kicking her short legs. "Under cover of darkness. When...you least...suspect..." Admittedly, she wasn't the strongest swimmer in the world, and was starting to struggle.

Ellis D. Made sure to stay on his feet. It wasn't that he didn't like swimming, he just didn't like how sketchy things got once the water was too deep to touch the ground. What if something swam up and grabbed his leg and pulled him under? No thank you. With his feet on the ground of the lake he could fight.
"Bring it." He said to the lake lizard's wrath. He stepped backwards, goading Ida's pathetic monster after him. He didn't even notice the wardrobe malfunction until she removed it. Some of the fun immediately fell away. She was literally topless. Ellis D. had skinny dipped before, of course, but at once he felt odd.
"Dude, put that--" but it was too late, she had cast it towards the shore and now here they were. He shook his head, a smirk filled with disbelief on his lips. "Ida, you're an idiot." He said it with undeniable affection.
And she pressed on.
It occurred to Ellis D. that if she caught him then he would undoubtedly feel her breasts. He wasn't sure whether to step with vigor or slow his escape. While deciding, he settled for right in between. She would almost get him, but wouldn't quite.
"Ida, you're an idiot." Honestly, there was nothing more fun than getting a rise out of Ellis D. She knew that, particularly under these circumstances, going topless probably wasn't the best move. But when she got like this, there was no thinking things through. Ida was being exceptionally silly, but she was also in a incredibly good mood and wasn't going to let anything bring her down.
"Avert your gaze if you must. The lake lizard must shed the trappings of its human form." Ida was getting close to him but was quickly losing steam. She shoved the water with both hands, sending a wave to splash him. "Whatever." She said, coughing and panting. "You've bested me. The lake lizard commends you." Ida turned her head up to look at the sky. The stars were scattered in clusters, dimmed by the bright light of the full moon. Ida smiled to herself. "Absolutely gorgeous." She murmured softly.
Shy little Journey was having a great night. She found herself growing to really enjoy her company and when he invited her to the lake with the other couple, whether just friends or not, she had nodded and agreed. Her parents would be out late working and her brother, well, probably so zoned into games that he wouldn’t notice her missing later than she had originally said before they left for the night.
With the windows down, she had reached up and twisted her hair over one shoulder, angling her face towards the breeze with a small blissful smile. Her eyes closed as they drove. The moment Milo Laurent spoke, she looked over him with bright blue eyes. “No, not at all. I... I am glad you are bringing me.” he could have easily just brought her home and joined his friends on his own.

Averting his eyes was the last thing Ellis D. actually did. He kept them trained on his friend, his expression a mixture of discomfort and amusement. His superior height and natural evasion skills--he played wide receiver when he was on the football team--kept just the amount of distance between them that he wanted. She conceded, eventually, and the discomfort melted away, leaving only amusement.
Ellis D. looked up at the stars, appreciated them for a tick, then looked back down at @ida. He was grinning when he said,
"I love you, Rivera." It wasn't a profession. More like a friendly declaration, easily platonic.
”I love you. Rivera.” Ida felt something recoil like a snake in her chest. But almost as quickly the feeling was gone, and she was relaxed once more. Looking up at the stars, the moonlight reflecting on the water, she catalogued the moment in her mind, feeling completely at peace with the world. her heart started to fill with something else - a strange mixture of exhilaration and gratitude. Ida looked over at Ellis D., reaching for the words that would pin down what she had to say without saying too much.
“You mean everything to me, you know that?” Ida was calm and serious, gazing distantly at the stars - a distinct change from her normal goofy self. She found herself itching for a cigarette, but pushed the feeling away, taking a deep breath of the cool night air. “I know I'm impulsive. I push too hard, I get in my head. And I don't mean to make things complicated, I don't. I just..." She paused for a second to gather her thoughts. "No matter how messy things get, I’m not going anywhere. I just want you to know that.” After a long moment of silence, Ida looked over at Ellis D., grinning a big goofy smile. “Aaaand scene. Hope you liked my one-woman show. Tip your bartenders, I'll be here all week."
Ida was fighting her natural inclination to be uncomfortable with her own feelings. She didn’t know if any of this would resonate or even make sense, but it was the best she had right now.

Ellis D. joined Ida in her stargazing. This was easy. This was nice. He’d almost forgotten she was bare chested when she started to speak. No, not speak. Share. Trust. Expose a portion of her underbelly. The air between then grew thin, because there was something daunting about vulnerability. Something sacred.
He was quiet as she spoke, truly giving her the spotlight as she staggered through her message. He understood it. Of all her words, what stayed with him were: I’m not going anywhere.
Ellis D. turned in the water, and though a silly end was being stamped onto her speech to diffuse the situation, he ignored it in favor of reaching out his long, strong arms and wrapping Ida into a tight hug—if she didn’t fight him. Naked chest against his ribs and all.
He didn’t say anything. He didn’t have the introspection to pull works out off the cuff like she had. He needed time alone to think and decide and understand. But this, this was easy. Being close. Touching her. Holding her. In the same way he had pressed into Ida that day last summer—how natural it had been—he pulled her in now, wordlessly, but charged.
Ida clung to Ellis D. Even in the icy cold of the water he was a source of warmth and comfort. She spent so much of her life either fighting with nails and teeth or running scared. It was an exhausting but familiar reality. But here, with Ellis D., she felt safe. Like all the strife in the outside world was just a distant dream. She wanted to hold on to this moment as long as she could.
Ida was incredibly aware of her nakedness, of his proximity to her, of the way the muscles of his back moved under her fingers. Her overcharged libido reared its head, lighting up every nerve ending in her body. Ida embraced him, nuzzling her face into his neck. After a few moments, she pulled away, holding his face with one hand and giving him a mostly platonic kiss on the cheek. As desperately as she wanted him, Ida wasn’t going to make the same mistake twice in one night. At prom, she had swung and missed. She’d let Ellis D. take the lead from here on out and allow things unfold in their own time. As far as she was concerned, this night was a night out with her best friends in the whole world. Whatever happened beyond that was just icing on the cake.
Ida kept her arms around his neck, thankful to have something to hold on to in the deep water. She let her legs float to the surface, posing in imitation of a bride being carried over the doorstep. She grinned, tossing her hair back. “Now this is more like it. Glad I remembered to bring my human life preserver.” Though she was talking in terms of a flotation device, she figured that the statement worked on multiple levels.
