03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?

"Ferris," he corrected quickly. In his line of work, a lot of people called him sir. He hated it, but it was the easier way to get his attention without having to think. Without having to know his name. To show some amount of respect whether he felt he deserved it or not. Hilariously, as 'impersonal' as the Fire Chief could be, he much preferred the use of his name, one way or another. "Or Felwinter," he added with a shrug. Probably with the title of 'chief' in front of it, but he didn't feel the need to throw his rank around at people. Either it mattered to them and they would use it, or it didn't mattered and they wouldn't.
He took perhaps an unhealthy amount of amusement out of watching everyone in the square jump or look up or wince or otherwise react to the fire truck horn. Not that he let any of that be apparent; the Fire Chief met any and all eyes directed his way with a stoic expression. A flat challenge than he backed up with the removal of the little girl from the seat. If they thought this was the last time that horn would go off, they were sorely mistaken. IT set a rather impossible precedent, with many other kids of course eager to do the same and just as many parents eager to avoid it.
"Chief!" Conner called from in the seat, clearly having seen the excitement the sound cause with the young crowd. "Maybe next year we make honking the horn a dollar?!" He joked.
"Could do," he agreed, though he had no interest in organizing that. He'd be lucky if they got a vague line instead of a crowd. He should probably set a timer on his phone and only let that happen every hour or so. As a 'man in uniform' and on 'active duty' he was doing a bang-up job resisting the urge to look at his phone again. At least until he decided a timer would be a good call. He caught a glimpse of Darcy's reply and that she had sent more images. For later. Much later.
Ferris looked back up at Jasper as he tucked his phone away, snorting as he followed up his not so cleverly hidden sarcasm with more of his own. He didn't notice where Jasper was looking or that they were being looked over. He itched for a cigarette, but instead, shrugged out of his jacket and slung it over his shoulder. Even just standing here, he was hot. "Your first week go alright?"
The young, off duty EMT gave an amuse grin as the man offered his own name. He much preferred sticking to names, though in certain situations and circumstances; he’d likely stick with Ferris’ title, especially for work. The man’s last name was just as interesting, and Jasper made a mental note to help himself remember.
The overall reaction from the crowd over the fire truck’s honk was mostly entertainment, especially from the younger crowd. No doubt more children would be trying to convince their parents to allow them the opportunity to give the horn a blare. Though Jasper would prefer to have found some distance from the rig before then. Besides, the man was off today and he wanted to enjoy the sights and goodies this festival had to offer. And of course, the allure of the attractive woman in the town was not something he overlooked.
He was a man after all; one who sincerely enjoyed flirting and playing the field. And being new in town; he had the advantage of being mysterious as well as an emergency response worker.
“Better than expected, thankfully nothing as concerning as that first day. But I’m getting the hang out things. Still trying to familiarize myself with the layout of the town.” Jasper admitted with a casual shrug, his gaze returned to the other man. “Heard some stories around town that last year was pretty rough with forest fires; is that normal around here?” He was curious to know just what he might be expecting from the small town. Despite the size, they seemed to have an unusually high rate of accidents, fires and animal attacks.
Harland hugged her back after transferring her food but he chuckled, "Oh that was smooth Sheriff," he joked pulling back and joking, "But that hammering heart says different," a slight cocky smirk spread across his face as he broke the hug, "You ain't got to work this whole time do you? I need someone over at the stand to root for me to win the bbq wars."
He then looked around, "I told...well asked if Kenna wanted to come but," he then checked his flip phone, "nothing..."

The fact that he decided to point out her erratic heart ate only served to make her cheeks take on a deeper shade of red, she hadn’t expected him to point it out so easily. “Wow, way to call me out like that.” She gave his side a playful elbow as she shook her head, blonde hair swaying where she had it pulled up. “No, not the whole thing. I’m mostly just a glorified supervisor today, with this vest and radio.” She offered a gently shrug, taking her food so he wasn’t just suck holding it. Plus, it did smell amazing.
“Hey, she’s a teenager. Give her some time, how often did we hang out with our parents at events like this?” Gemma offered with a playful smile, knowing well that they avoided their parents like the plague at Kenna’s age. “And you know I’d be over there rooting for you, working or not.” Because there wasn’t much she wouldn’t do for the werewolf before her.
Elrond had been very enthusiastic when Tristan had told him about the flier and the event. He was always looking for a way to connect with their little community. Not only that but he quite liked a chance to spend more time with Tristan. He had floated the idea of entering the competition but ultimately he decided it would be less stressful to simply attend. There were a lot of things to navigate at a busy event in a location he didn’t know the layout of too well. He’d spent perhaps a bit too long picking out a ‘spring’ outfit while Tristan went for his morning run. He was a mixture of nerves and excitement. He was very glad to have Tristan to help him through the crowd of folks and the many distractions. Elrond had brought his cane but it was more to signal to other folks that they might have to move out of his way. Luckily Tristan was very tall, so he could easily keep track of the Tristan shaped blur amongst the other many bright and colorful blurs.
He beamed as he went with Tristan along to whatever food called his roommates fancy. He himself was happy to partake of whatever the festival had to offer. Elrond had only just finished off one of the pastries when the horn blast startled him. He gave a stunned few blinks and then laughed when it caught up with him what the noise was. Elrond cast his eyes about and sure enough caught sight a large red vaguely rectangular blur he assumed was a firetruck. He could hear now several folks nearby talking to their kids about the nice firemen. He wondered if Ferris was among them. Though he wasn’t exactly sure what he would say if he managed to deduce that Ferris was here. ‘Look I’ve managed to not set any more false alarms off and I even have someone who can help me change the batteries now!’ He turned to Tristan “Anything else look tasty nearby?” There were a ton of delicious smells from every direction and he could make out what some of the smells were but reading the stall signs was an exercise in futility for him.

As much as he wanted to rush off to each new smell (like the overeager puppy he was), he stayed close to Elrond Toal. Or at least he tried too. Sometimes he forgot himself for a few steps, but then he remembered to slow down and touch his arm to his roommate's elbow or let the other man's arm brushed against him in turn. While they had been out shopping a few times, he was still figuring out the best way to help the man get about while not being too overwhelming. Though in this crowd, he naturally felt more protective, sticking close to him like a much more well-behaved guide dog might. He couldn't help it; the man was very sweet and extra precious in his fine clothes.
Though he had wandered off a few steps when the fire engine horn sounded. Even with his poor hearing on his right side, he could tell it was a loud noise, just not where exactly it came from. Tristan instinctively dashed back to Elrond, drawn by the familiar pounding of his roommate's heart picking up in surprise. He looped his arms around the man's waist protectively, trying to provide a bit more comfort by giving Elrond a better understanding of his surroundings by encasing him with his own body, as sort of over-the-top reminder that he was safe without saying a word. His hold loosened and he stepped back as the man laughed, following his gaze toward the fire trucks. That made sense. "Kids taking fire truck tours," he confirmed softly.
He snorted at Elrond's loaded question. "Everything." He cast about them, taking a deep breath and only looking over a few of the signs. "Funnel cake. Carmel apples, walking tacos, cheese fries, corn dogs, chili, elephant ears, root beer floats, lemonade, cotton candy, corn dogs, short rib on a stick, bacon wrapped corn on the cob. Anything you have ever wanted to barbecue, fresh produce," he listed, cocking his head slightly. The last bit they should definitely get before they left. "Preferences?" By now, Elrond knew Tristan could find joy in eating anything.

Jasper didn't seem too found of the engine's horn, but he did seem to enjoy the chaos it produced. Ferris swept his gave over the crowd, not entirely unamused himself, but he hadn't been in a very great mood lately, for crowds or otherwise, and the amusement was impossible to see. He'd almost wished it affected him more, but he simply continued to stand there, watching. There were so many groups and couples and even single people enjoying themselves and all he could think about was how much longer her had to stand here. And Darcy.
And maybe if he could find some good fried potatoes and cheese sometime. But even that thought was fleeting.
"Good." Being a small town, all the emergency services shared a system. So, while he didn't attend every call, he was aware of most of them and thankfully, it had been a quiet week. Boring, even. He'd had too much time to do maintenance and class work and had only bothered with the bare minimum of classwork because it was expensive to retake things.
"Could always pick up deliveries. Or help deliver the mail." The post office was tiny. "Would help if you're struggling to learn your way around." He got the feeling Jasper was busy learning his way around something else, from the way he was looking at all the pretty woman.
The Fire Chief nodded, a bit more tense. "No. Dry summer coupled with a few more careless campers and some bad lightning storms." It wasn't entirely untrue. "Shouldn't be a problem this year, but the rangers are keeping an eye on things." Specifically for more hellhounds, but Jasper didn't need to know that.
A ragged line of kids and parents started to form, most of the adults talking their kids out of pulling the horn. But they wanted in the truck anyway so it kept Ferris busy supervising the handing out of plastic helmets and stickers most of the day.
Alec wasn't going to miss the event. He had been here every year since the first annual Spring Apple Blossom Bash and he wasn't about to ditch out this year. Besides, he had to cheer on Harland Shaw to win again. He'd probably been overly proud of the win last year but as Harland was a member of his pack he couldn't help himself. He liked bbq alright though usually found the meat too overdone for his personal wolfish preferences but that wasn't even necessarily true of all werewolves. What could he say? At this age he just knew what he liked.
The town councilman strolled through the festival with a charming smile on his face, chatting with anyone who approached him. He'd always been an active and pleasant man to work with and he made sure he maintained that reputation as best he could.
He did spot Harland Shaw and Gemma Tramell though and turned to greet them. "I'd honestly be shocked if I didn't see you both here today, working or not," he said with a grin. "You entering your bbq again?" he asked Harland with an expectant smile.
Elrond was briefly almost more surprised by Tristan's sudden embrace than the fire truck horn. He adjusted quickly with a small clearing of his throat. He wasn't sure if he had ever had someone in his life that was as casual with affection as Tristan. He was so quiet and yet Elrond never had to wonder if he was accidentally talking to no one. Then again he certainly wasn't about to complain. Elrond chuckled at Tristan's description. Lots of tempting offers. He wondered if the almost guaranteed inconvenience of a bacon wrapped corn was worth the novelty but decided they ought to try the main show first. "hmmm where to start. Guess we better have some of that contest worthy barbeque." He smiled in Tristan's direction. He was happy to explore the culinary adventure with his very non-picky eater companion. He himself had little qualms about taste he was open to most things but he wasn't a huge fan of messy foods for practical reasons. Even with a companion to tell him if he got food all over his face he usually avoided foods drenched in sauce or powdered sugar. Today he was willing to put that preference aside considering that most fair food was messy by nature. "Maybe some pulled pork?"
Post by Alexis Vanderson on Jul 7, 2024 4:28:00 GMT
Alexis would never miss this event. Especially since it was being hosted by her roommates family. She'd hardly seen Calliope Bartlett lately as she'd been so busy with preparations and Alexis only realized now that maybe she could have offered to help. She wasn't the best at thinking of others until it was usually to late, if she ever realized it at all. She really was trying to get better at that.
She wasn't about to arrive at 5 am though. Still, she pulled herself out of bed far before midday and tossed on a little sundress that showed excessive cleavage and teased at showing her buttcheeks if the breeze hit just right. By the time she showed up things were off to a great start and it seemed that most of the town was in attendance. She was keeping an eye out for people she knew...well, she knew just about everyone, but she was looking for people she actually wanted to hang out with.
She happened by the firefighters and looked briefly to see if maybe Francisco ‘Cisco’ Irwin was there before her eyes fell upon someone she didn't know. That red hair from Jasper Brekker certainly stood out and she was so distracted by the newbie that she nearly ran into someone. Of course it was their fault and she tossed a glare in their direction before continuing on her way.
Kenna was having a hard time making friends she'd come to town but she knew that most of that was her own fault. She had kept to herself, hurried from class to class at school, and tended to each lunch in remote locations just to avoid the looks. Or at least the looks that she was imagining. Before her mom had died Kenna had been a bright and bubbly girl who made friends easily. She was easy and fun to be around.
But her life had been turned upside down in more ways than she ever could have imagined and she was feeling lost. Both physically and metaphorically. She was still getting a feel for how to get around town and where everything was but she also just didn't really know who she was anymore. She was in the middle of a video game, playing at her Dad's house and currently destroying her much older competitors in Halo. Kenna did love showing off her video game skills to guys, they never expected that the teenage girl would kick their asses.
After a long, intense round she picked up a phone and saw a message from Harland Shaw that had been sent a while ago. Dad. It still felt so strange to have someone around to call that, let alone for it to be accurate. The Blossom Bash. Of course. She was hesitant to go, it was a lot of people and that felt a little overwhelming. But she was also starting to get lonely. Maybe just being around a lot of happy fair goes would help. So she texted out a quick response.
Heading over in 10
Then headed to her room to get changed. She pulled on a pair of white shorts, a tan floral tank that peeked her belly, and simple white shoes before tossing her hair in a high pony, tucking what she needed in her pockets and heading out the door. Not too much later she arrived at the fair and she tucked her hands in her back pockets as she walked with her shoulders raised about halfway to her ears and keeping her eye out for Harland Shaw and Gemma Tramell.

Tristan was momentarily distracted by just how many werewolves he could sense here. It made him even more on edge and protective of his person. Gemma's scent he recognized, but the others he did not. Though, he could tell one of those present was the other Alpha. The one he had not yet met. He was an older leader, from what Tristan could tell. Hopefully, they wouldn't come to any sort of encounter in such a public place.
Despite his own dislike for unwarranted touch, he was a physical sort and felt much more comfortable with Elrond. Perhaps, from an outside view, a little too comfortable, but Tristan was quite dedicated to making good on his side of their bargain.
He hummed an affirmative. As much as he preferred his meat rare or raw and considered most barbeque to be grossly overcooked, he would admit that he still enjoyed it. Meat was meat and sauces were wonderful. But if he was asked to rank any of these barbeques from the contest a 1 through 10, the most he was likely to give any of them was a 4. So probably it was best not to ask for his opinion. "Pulled pork it is," he said, taking another breath and then guiding them onward, following his nose to one of the closer tents that was set up barbequing. He didn't recognize any of the men and women behind the table and at the smokers and crock pots and burners. He looked over the menu, having to contain himself from asking for one of everything. Even still, he ordered a pulled pork sandwich, ribs, pulled pork nachos with everything on it, grilled corn on the cob and two lemonades. "You will eat some of that?" he asked hopefully.
He picked up a stack of napkins and some utensils, and then helped Elrond locate somewhere to sit before returning to the booth to pick up their order. He had to make two trips.
Of course, listening to Ferris talk was important. He didn’t want to be seen as careless or uninterested in any advice the seasoned fire chief might have to offer. He gave a nod, those were both great options, and would also give him a little more face time with members of the community. In his new job, he wanted to let people know they could rely on him in an emergency. And that would be more difficult to cultivate if he wasn’t out and about in the town.
Just another reason why he was enjoying this town festival. It was a great way to let people see his face in the community, so perhaps they might recognize him when he was on the job. The red hair was definitely sure to help at least a few people remember him. “Ya know, that’s actually a great idea. Thanks Ferris.” And he genuinely meant it.
Hearing of the previous summer’s fire issues was concerning, but clearly the fire chief, his team and the forest rangers seemed to be on top of it. Besides, Jasper was sure he’d eventually find himself on a call if he was needed. “Well, event if the EMTs aren’t needed on scene, if you need an extra set of hands, I’m happy to help.” He assured with a grin, his eyes drifting to fall on a very attractive blonde in a very eye catching red sundress. Okay, now he was ready to mingle with the crowd once more.
“Ill see you around Ferris.” Jasper gave a nod to the man, but his attention was definitely not on anything but getting himself introduced to the cute blonde. The man ran a hand through his hair as he looked about trying to spot that cute red sundress once more, and finally spotting her and offering a charming grin as he approached Alexis Vanderson. “I can see that you’re gorgeous, but what else should I know about you?” Definitely not his best line, but the red sundress had him very distracted.

Kota loved the Spring Apple Blossom festival! She had been there since early that morning helping various vendors set up, she helped tag prices on things, passed out different raffle tickets for loads of prizes donated by local businesses, and with her daily tasks over Kota was free to attend the rest of the festival. She had took a quick trip to the parking lot and squatted between two vans to take a rip from her little glass one hitter texting her sister at the same time.
O-M-G I am hungry are you free yet? I needs to get my grindage on no cheezin' the weasel !
Kota like her Father was a huge Pauly Shore fan so despite the rabble of her text, Calliope would totally understand the verbiage or she would just think Kota was a dork like their Dad.
Send location. I am having a small "SALAD' in the parking lot xoxo.
Harland nodded in reluctant agreement, "You're right, I avoided mine every chance I got," still he sighed his own reasoning is that Harland had missed so much already and had a lot to make up for, but he did want her to have own space.
The big man was about to offer his arm to his biggest support when Alec Hargrove approached them and spoke, Alec was the packs Alpha and leader, to Harland the man was the law and president for all he cared. Harland was very loyal to Alec and saw the man as both a best friend and wise old man at the same time. Har was closer to Alec than his own Father. Then the ding of an old text alert sounded from his shirt pocket, but he shook hands with Alec first, "Oh you know I got a title to defend sir, I have my dignity on the line this year," Harland joked with his pack leader unaware of how close her and Gem stood not that Harland cared the pack and the whole town probably knew more about their deep seeded friendship than even Har or Gem knew, a few of the older women in town always joked that Gem needed to claim her man before the old women did. Harland always laughed it off, he could make the move as well...but.
Pulling his cell phone out and flipping it open a big smile spread over his face, "She's coming, ten minutes," he replied to Gem looking at Alec, "There's someone you need to meet if you got the time," Harland "quickly" texted back (it took several minutes for him to type he text):
