03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
This season of cheerleading was going to be the best one yet. Kalena was determined to make it so. She had pushed the girls harder over the summer than she ever had before, and they'd shown up for basketball season. They were doing amazing feats on the football field during halftime, but that wasn't the head coach's primary focus. Kalena was all about the cheer competitions. The team would spend the second half of the spring semester traveling to compete. They were going to get the gold this time, not silver.
"Some of you," she said, wrapping up her post-practice speech, "look like you've been having eating competitions with the football team. That needs to stop. If your body isn't in the best shape it can be in, then your mind won't be in the best shape it can be in, and if your body and mind aren't unified in perfection then your movements will be sloppy and you'll be the death of the team." She always did this. She was walking up and down a line of girls as they looked ahead. Ever since Kalena became head coach, the team functioned more like a military unit than a sorority. Some complained, but at the end of the day they were better for it. In Kalena's mind, cheerleading was a sport, not a social status.
"If you didn't get the steps down from today then check your emails tonight. I'll have a recording of the movements sent to all of you." She glanced towards her assistant, who nodded and wrote a reminder down on her clipboard.
"Lastly, don't forget to be at the school this Saturday at 5:00am for the team run." She ran her eyes over the girls one last time and then nodded her head. "You're dismissed. Go ducks!" The girls declared 'Go ducks!' back at her before dispersing. Some stood around to talk, others went straight to the locker room. Kalena herself began to retrieve the cones she'd set out to help them learn positioning on the field.

Jack didn't make a habit out of checking up on his teachers. He hired them because he trusted them and he usually let them just do their thing unless he had a specific reason to peek in on their instruction. This was not one of those times, he had no particular reason to be here, other than he just enjoyed how successfully the cheerleading team was doing. Or something of that nature.
He happened to walk up just as Ms. Irwin began her lecture and he found himself smiling and nodding at her severity.
As the girls began to disperse and passed him by he cast smiles in their direction and most smiled back while others looked intimidated to see him there. He cast his gaze over towards the girls that were standing around chatting and then made his way towards Kalena. "It's easy to see why the team is doing well," Jack stated. "When do competitions start?" His tone was conversational rather than authoritative.
Kalena was scooping a cone from the ground when the fine man that governed the school approached. She cast a sidelong glance from the corners of her eyes, observing his actions and motions. Ever protective of her girls, she wasn’t thrilled at the way he smiled at them—she knew girls well enough to know he’d be stealing hearts unintentionally (surely)—but she was glad he was friendly at least.
Dressed in short Nike shorts and a fitted tank with her hair in a high pony, Kalena straightened up, cones in her hands, and smiled pleasantly at Hollifield.
“The competition started the moment I assembled this year’s team.” She smirked at him, sure he’d appreciate her perspective.

Jack grinned appreciatively at her comment and her smirk. "I wouldn't expect anything less from you, you've been a great asset," he said agreeably. It was impossible not to notice her attractive qualities. Her long dark hair and eyes, the way her legs looked in those shorts, and the toned arms underneath her tank. Though he was at least professional enough to notice these in his peripheral vision rather than openly checking out one of his employees.
Kalena would have been more flattered if he had checked her out. There was nothing wrong with appreciating beauty...among peers. She still hadn't shaken catching the way he'd been glancing at her cheerleaders. The part of her that thought the best of him--not because she thought the best of people, but because he was a founding family member and her boss--decided she'd seen something wrong. It was all good.
"Thanks, Jack." She said with a nod of her head, tone oozing with a confidence that implied nothing less than, I know.

Jack smirked at her confidence. He had always been drawn to strong, confident women and Kalena was no exception. Employee or not, that wasn't the sort of the thing that would stop him even if it did make him slightly more cautious than normal. At least while on the school premises. "Perhaps you can offer some tips to the boy's basketball coach, his team hasn't done well in years."

Jack chuckled at her response. "Don't tempt me, I may just take you up on that," he half joked back though his wheels were already turning. Still, he wouldn't want to fill her schedule up too much and risk the good reputation of her cheer team.
He reached down to pick up one of the remaining cones. "You'll let me know if you need anything from me then?" he asked.
Kalena smiled, earnestly entertained by the banter with Mr. Hollifield. She’d heard a range of reports about him, some good, some bitter, so it was fun to have this exchange and begin creating an opinion of her own. She’d reach out a hand to take the remaining cone from him, adding it to the stack she was already holding.
“Sir yes sir.” She confirmed, having heard, processed, and accepted his offer for assistance should she need it. Of course, she would never take him up on it. She’d do it all herself and she’d do it well.

Jack handed over the cone and then raised his hand to his forehead, fingers together, and gave Kalena a small salute and an accompanying grin. "That'll do, Pig," he replied, quoting a classic movie, and turned to leave unless she stopped him.
Babe. Kalena was no movie buff, but it was a classic movie. It was also, however, entirely inappropriate. Pig? Who in their right minds called a woman pig? Was it supposed to be flirty? She wasn't having it. The salute had made her smile but the title dropped the smile rather quickly. Thankfully he was turning to leave, so he didn't see her scowl at his back.
The comment would stick with her for the rest of the evening. Her boss, a founding family member, had just called her a pig. What a moron. In her spite, she hoped she didn't see him again anytime soon. She had a feeling she'd come with a sharp tongue ready to skewer.
