Jack didn't vocally answer the question about if she'd see him around but he did toss her a little wink to confirm that he had every intention of continuing to see her around the college campus should this tryst of theirs continued. He was very much in the frame of mind that one day she'd find herself a boyfriend and she'd fall in love and tell him that this had to end. He would respect her wishes of course, but now that she'd wore him down enough to make him break his rules, he had every intention of continuing this for as long as they could. He already had half an erection in his pants at the thought and was getting rather excited to leave this restaurant.
But, all in good time. He wanted to fully enjoy this date experience and not just turn into another hookup moment...though he did expect it would lead to that by the end of the night certainly. He nodded as she explained that she wasn't worried about Alexis and Jack could do nothing but to trust her intuition. He gave her a smile and a nod. "That's good to hear," he said just as the food arrived.
He regretfully moved his arm from around her so that they could eat, though he stayed close enough that their legs were still pressed together under the table. "When was the last time you came to town here?" he asked, wondering how often she left the boundaries of sweetwater.

Of course, whether or not they actually saw eachother or ignored one another when she started college in the fall would likely heavily depend on if they were still doing, well; whatever it was they were doing. She didn’t want to think too much, she was a female after-all, and not immune to overthinking things. But that all sounded like a concern for ‘future Callie’ to be concerned with whenever that time came. For now, she was going to enjoy everything she could with him.
Honestly, Callie didn’t believe Alexis would tell anyone if she ever found out, though Callie worried if she ought to tell her before she found out at random. She wanted to cultivate trust with her friend, after all. Callie smiled with a gentle nod, gently running a hand through her hair before glancing up as the food was brought. This of course meant Jack removed his arm, but their legs stayed in contact, so; she wouldn’t complain.
Callie’s mouth watered at the sight and smell of the dish, she was definitely ready to enjoy some food. “Oh, maybe a month ago? I like to go shopping out of town periodically. Though mostly when I’m itching for a drive, I go visit my family on the reservation.”

The food was amazing but it was hard to even focus on it when he has something even more delectable right beside him. He liked hearing her talk, he liked learning more about her, and whatever things turned out to be later, he was going to let himself enjoy that for what it was.
“Oh? Tell me more about that, I don’t know about that side of your family.”

Despite being a rather ‘slender’ female, Callie wasn’t too concerned to be seen eating. They were on a date, she was hungry and she wasn’t one of those girl who pretended not to enjoy pasta or carbs. In fact, her spaghetti carbonara was delicious. It was obvious the kitchen kept high quality ingredients on hand. It also didn’t hurt that since this was technically her first drink in nearly four years, the alcohol definitely made things more enjoyable. But regardless of how enjoyable the meal was, it was difficult not to feel a rush of excitement every time she thought of the man sitting beside her.
His genuine interest in listening to her talk about her family was enough to make her blush. She wasn’t used to someone caring enough to ask, let alone actually listen. “Oh, of course!” She started with and excited smile. Then Callie went on to explain that the majority of mother’s side of the family resides in the Southern Ute Reservation, in southwestern Colorado. About how many summers she spent with cousins and family members on the reservation when she was younger, and unable to help but smile as she explained that every so often, her mother would tell her and her siblings the Ute’s creation story. “It might seem farfetched or childish; but there’s such a sense of comfort to be felt from the familiar tale.” She gently shook her head with a soft smile. ”Would you like to hear the tale of the Ute tribe?”

As she told her story he let his hand move back down to her leg. He stroked her softly as he listened intently to her story, actually listening to all the details and smiling as he learned more about her and laughed at her stories. He ate a little here and there but it was clear he was far more interested in her than his meal.
“Of course, I’d love to hear,” he said with a genuine smile and his hand squeezed her thigh softly.

Callie had never someone pay such attention to her as she spoke. And, it almost made her a touch nervous. Why did his focus being on her and actually listening to her make her feel nervous?! It wasn’t in a bad way, just… different. It made her want to open up and share more with him, to help Jack known her on a deeper level than most people who claimed to ‘know’ her.
His hand on her thigh only distracted her a little, bringing a slight blush to her cheeks as she took a sip of her drink and offered her charming smile, turning to direct more of her focus squarely on him. “Well, It starts with Sinawav, the Creator giving Coyote a bag of sticks that wasn’t to be opened until he reached the sacred grounds… but Coyote was foolish and consumed by his curiosity he sought to peak into the bag. With just a sliver of the bag opened; people rushed out of the bag, speaking in strange tongues and scattering faster than he could stop them. He did get the bag closed, but with only a fourth of the bag’s content still inside. He took them to the sacred valley and dumped them out there.
There number were small, but those few were the Utes, the real Utes from around here. The Coyote then returned to Sinawav, and he scolded him, telling him he didn’t know what a fearful thing he had done. Coyote confessed that he tried to catch them, but was frightened because they spoke in strange tongues he didn’t understand.
“Those you let escape will forever war with the chosen ones, They will be the tribes which will always be a thorn in the sides of the Utes,” said Sinawav.
“The Utes, even though they are few in number, will be the mightiest and most valiant of heart.”
Sinawav then cursed the Coyote “You are an irresponsible meddler. From this time on you are doomed to wander this earth on all fours forever as a night crawler.”… Callie offered a somewhat condensed version because she felt a little foolish sharing in such a public setting, but also taking comfort in how attentively he listened. “I know it’s a touch silly, but spending time on the reservation with my family, seeing how different traditions are still followed… it’s nice to feel apart of something that meaningful.” For the first time, Callie’s carefully curated armor of playful flirting and disarming charming was falling away and allowing her softer, more vulnerable side to peek through.
And that… That was terrifying.
“Well, this is delicious, but I do believe I’ve had my fill. How was yours?” Her not so subtle attempt at changing the subject, easing her hand over his and tracing fingers along his arm.

Jack had always found the native american tribes to be so fascinating. Their origins stories and histories were filled with so much magic and supernatural aspects that it was very unique as far as other societies went. "Oh, so Coyote was a person and then cursed?" he asked, genuinely engaged in the story. He had at first assumed that Coyote was indeed a coyote in the story but perhaps not. "What sort of night crawler?" He had heard the rumors of Sweetwater being heavy in supernatural appeal though he had never seen anything himself and believed it all to be superstition or myth.
He could see how different she was being right now. It wasn't that her flirty sexual self was not the real her but rather that maybe she hid under that part of herself to avoid being vulnerable in other parts of herself. Yes as she offered this part of herself to him, even in such a small way, he felt honored to be someone she trusted and he wanted to know her deeper and deeper.
"Well I'm definitely full," he admitted. "Very good though, I've never been disappointed in this place. Did you want dessert or are you ready to continue our date elsewhere?" he asked, letting her know subtly that leaving the restaurant did not mean their date would be over.

Not only did Jack listen, he engaged with questions and Callie couldn’t help the way it made her heart flutter. His genuine interest made her almost feel nervous! But in a good way. “You know, I’ve never asked that. But I know that a lot of tribes believe differently, and a few of my uncles like to say that Coyote became the first half man half beast cursed to a lunar cycle.” of course, such tales were often chalked up to being some crazy fever dream or a story parents told children to get them to behave. Though, when the town dealt with all those animal attacks and wild fires last year, she couldn’t help but wonder.
“I guess that all depends on which story you think is true. My dad says it all ‘a bunch of hokum’, but my mom said she believes she met a werewolf when she was a child.” She gave a gentle shrug of her shoulders, but still had that same easy smile.
“Oh, I don’t think I’ve got room for dessert right now.” She teased with a soft laugh and couldn’t help the curious lift in her brow at his words. “Let go ahead and continue our date elsewhere.” Callie’s eyes sparkled excitedly, curious to know what else Jack had in mind.

At her denial of dessert Jack raised a hand to call the waiter over and paid for the meal quickly, leaving a good sized tip that made their waiter almost forget he had been eyeing Callie earlier. Jack took Callie's hand and placed a kiss on her knuckles as they left the restaurant. Once outside while they walked to the car he continued their conversation. "So what do you believe then?" he asked with a smile. "Real? Or a bunch of hokum?" His thumb gently stroked the back of her hand while they walked towards the car.

Callie followed Jack’s lead, taking his hand and unable to help the blush that took to her cheeks when he pressed his lips to her knuckles. Okay, it truly wasn’t fair how badly she wanted this man. She careful considered her words at his question, gently tapping her chin.
“A few years ago, I wouldn’t have said it was all just stories… but after what happened with my cousin, and all the fires and animal attacks last year…” Callie gave a slow exhale and shrugged, not caring if he found her belief silly. “I feel like there’s definitely something more going on than we realize. I mean, Sweetwater has an unusually high number of huge wolves in the area, but most of the violent animal attacks happen around full moons. But maybe that’s just how my mind wants to make it all make sense.” It was only a little difficult to focus on her thoughts instead of the thumb running over the back of her hand.

Jack hummed thoughtfully. "All good thoughts," he had to agree. Though it could just as easily all be explained by something logical and scientific rather than supernatural. Jack didn't think he wasn't open minded but he was healthily skeptical. Until he experienced something for himself, it was all just hearsay. The human mind was fascinating and could be made to believe just about anything was true. He had no intentions of telling her she was wrong. She might be right for all he knew. "Perhaps there is a research project somewhere in there," he said with a little grin and a chuckle. Ever the teacher in him to think of such things.
They made their way back to the car and Jack opened the door for her before he climbed in the car himself. They were in the car for about 10 minutes or so before he pulled up to a planetarium and parked. There were only a few cars parked here and the placed looked closed but Jack hardly seemed to notice. He was soon opening the door for her again with a sparkling smile on his face. "Have you ever been here?" he asked her.

The idea of turning it into a research project was intriguing, though she wasn’t sure if she was the person for it. Maybe she’d run the idea by Kota and see what she thought. “You might be onto something there, it’s definitely worth looking into.” She admitted with a nod, she’d enjoy reading something written on that, so long as it was done in a cohesive way. She followed him back to the car and wasn’t surprised when he opened the door for her. He was quite the gentleman, and she really liked that about him.
Callie smiled at Jack as he opened the door for her, feeling a flutter of excitement at the unexpected stop. The planetarium looked almost abandoned, its dark, quiet atmosphere adding a sense of mystery.
"I’ve never been, I was supposed to go for a school trip years ago, but was sick and missed out." She said, stepping out of the car and taking in the empty parking lot. The way Jack seemed so relaxed, like he had something special planned, intrigued her. It felt like they were sneaking in somewhere they weren’t supposed to be, and she found herself drawn to that sense of adventure. "It looks kind of eerie when it’s this quiet."
She glanced at him with a playful smile. "Are we even allowed to be here?"

Jack took her hand as they started to walk towards the planetarium. His smile grew wider as she asked if they were allowed to be here and he simply tossed her a wink without answering her question. The intrigue was exciting and he liked the idea of keeping her on her toes a little longer. The suspense wouldn't last long though because when they reached the front door it was opened for them by a woman smiling at the two of them. If she was bothered by their obvious age difference she didn't show any signs of it. It might have also been dark enough that she didn't even notice it Jack supposed, but he wasn't really thinking about that right now.
"Welcome to the Planetarium," she greeted them. "The whole building is yours for the next hour. It's only me and the night guard here and we'll be sure to stay out of your way," she informed them. "Have a lovely time."
Jack thanked the woman and squeezed Callie's hand. "Come on, I want to show you something," he said as he directed her further into the building. He didn't walk particularly fast, letting her stop at various things if she felt the pull, and eventually they made their way to a room that was hardly a room at all. Half of the ceiling wasn't there at all, leaving it open to the night air, and a giant telescope stood in the center of the room. On the ground near the telescope was a beautiful daybed that had a small table with champagne, a bouquet of roses, and some little chocolates. The daybed had the softest looking pillows and a furry blanket as well and had scattered rose petals on and around it. "Surprise," Jack said in a gentle voice as he stood behind her. He wrapped his arms around her middle and pressed a kiss just in front of her ear. "Do you like it?" he asked quietly.

If she wasn’t quite so distracted and appreciative of his hand taking hers, she might have been a touch concerned about the wink. Was Jack really the ‘breaking and entering’ type? He certainly was proving to bend and break certain rules for her recently, but that seemed a bit of a stretch. Still, she couldn’t help the excited and slightly nervous feeling that swirled in her stomach. When the door was opened by a woman, Callie felt the nervousness melt away and she couldn’t help but smile.
Had he booked the planetarium for an hour for them? Talk about butterflies in her stomach taking flight!
She gave a polite nod of thanks to the woman and looked to Jack as he gently squeezed her hand. “Lead the way.” Callie said, clearly happy to follow this man anywhere. Everything was so much more fascinating and easy to enjoy without a crowd to compete with and wait around to see the different exhibits and such. And of course a few things caught her attention and she was thankful that Jack didn’t seem at all bothered by her getting distracted.
Still, nothing could have quite prepared Callie for the sight before her as they entered the observatory. The giant telescope and amazing view would have been thrilling enough, but the daybed, champagne, roses, and- were those chocolates?
Her jaw dropped slightly as she took in everything, her breath catching in her chest as he wrapped his arms around her from behind and pressed a kiss near her ear. “Jack… this is amazing.” Her voice soft, Callie was trying not to act like such a girl, but she couldn’t help it.
First the restaurant, and now this? No one had ever put so much effort and planning into something for her before. She leaned back against him, hugging his arms around her a bit more firmly for a moment before she turned to face him with a rosy blush to her cheeks. “You didn’t have to do all this…” She started, but grinned as she moved her hand to his shoulders and laced her fingers behind his neck. “But I’m really glad you did… thank-you.” Callie said with a smile before gently biting her bottom lip and leaning up to kiss him.

There was just something that he found so satisfying in spoiling her. Maybe it was the idea that he knew that no one else had and that she deserved it. He liked showing her what it meant to have a real man care about you. That thought hit him hard all of a sudden. Because he did care about Callie. Sure, their whole relationship had been exciting and hot and fun to indulge in but she was more than just a pretty girl with a smokin body. She was Calliope and he really did care about her.
"You, Calliope, are most welcome. I'm so very glad you like it." His hands splayed across her back tenderly as they kissed and he inhaled deeply as their lips were pressed together, soaking her up as much as he could. He broke the kiss and looked down at her, his hand moved to her cheek and his thumb stroked her cheekbone softly as he smiled. "You are...just so beautiful," he said softly before letting his hand fall. "Come on, we've only got an hour," he added with a grin and pulled her over towards the daybed.
"They said we should be able to saturn's rings tonight," he commented as he lifted the bottle of champagne. "Would you like a drink?" He knew she didn't drink a lot and that she had had a drink at dinner so he wasn't sure if she'd want more or not. It wouldn't matter to him either way. She was still underage after all and he should care about that more than he did.
