03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
Alexis was sitting in a literal closet in bed the hallway of her friend Cece’s house. She had been throwing a party, her parents out of town for the night of course, and as usual things had got out of hand. Alexis, who has already been prone to drinking before her break up with Ellis had only gotten worse in overindulging since they split.
Tonight was no different. Only by this point she had already puked her guts out and her buzz had faded into a dull ache that would only worsen as the sun rose. Her cheeks were damp with tears as she sat on the floor with her knees pulled up to her chest and her phone gripped tightly in her hand, her lifeline.
She could still hear Brett shouting loudly through the house and Cece’s screaming at him to stop breaking things or she’d be dead when her parents came home. Alexis had texted Ellis D. He was the only one she felt like she count on and she pretended like she didn’t feel guilty about dragging him into this.

Ellis D. had been in bed when he received the text from Alexis. The first one in three months that he had actually replied to. He could always tell, as if it was his magic power, when his ex girlfriend was drunk. The thought that she would be taken advantage of kept him up at night sometimes. He thought of her often, despite everything.
It was in the first long pause between texts that Ellis D. had decided to take action rather than wait. He muttered and curses Alexis under his breath as he pulled on clothes and headed out of his house, ignoring the wails of his mother that followed as she tried to figure out where he was going but was too stoned to actually follow. He had work in the morning, early, but when it came to Lex little else mattered. He knew she needed him. He could feel it.
He searched all the usual places for parties. Ellis D. had a nice bike Alexis had bought him for his birthday. He used it to speed along the roads of Sweetwater, looking for where she was. Eventually, over an hour later, she texted again with her location.
Ellis D. showed up guns blazing.
Brett had been one of his closest friends in his past life. Ever since Ellis D. changed, he’d become his greatest enemy. Whispers of his name trickled through the house the moment he stepped in, dark eyes blazing.
A girl from school, one of Lexi’s friends put a hand to his chest.
“You shouldn’t be here.” She said, concern in her voice. “You and Brett always get into it.” Ellis D. didn’t even look at her. His eyes were set.
“Go find Alexis.” He was determined to go find Brett.

Alexis wiped her cheeks against her knees, feeling the wetness of her tears seep through the fabric of her leggings and chill her skin. She jumped when someone opened the closet door and cringed against the sudden light in the dark space.
"There you are!" Yasmine said with a sigh of relief. "Ellis D. just got here, he went to find Brett. We all know how this is gonna end, maybe we should call the cops."
"No, don't. It'll just make things worse," Alexis said, feeling a sense of relief to know that her ex-boyfriend was here. A feeling that not many people felt about their exes, at least in her experience.
She wavered to her feet and Yasmine grabbed her hand to help her up as they made their way to find Ellis D. and Brett. They mostly just followed the sound of where the most noise was. Around Alexis' upper arm was a red mark that looked like it would likely leave a bruise come the following morning, the place where Brett had grabbed her. Her mascara and eyeliner were smudged from her tears.

Ellis D. didn’t need to see Alexis to know that she’d been mistreated by Brett. There were two kinds of lowlifes in this world; the literal ones and the metaphorical ones. Ellis D., because of socioeconomic status, was the literal kind. Brett, with his fancy house and car but lack of virtues, was the metaphorical.
Ellis D. found him with a drink in hand at the pool table. He didn’t hesitate. His first reared back and landed hard on Brett’s cheek, sending the drink and teen flying to the ground.
“I told you to leave her alone.” He told him when he’d stepped away from the friend group, and he warned him every other time he interacted with him. Brett was up quickly, tackling Ellis D. to the ground.

Alexis missed the first punch that was thrown and as her and Yasmine came around the corner into the room what she was Brett tackling Ellis D. Her heart dropped into her stomach and she rushed towards them. Though Yasmine tried to stop her, Alexis shook her off. "Stop! Stop it!! Brett! Get off of him!" she shouted at the boys. It would be her fault if Ellis D. got hurt.

Ellis D. was willing to fight. That didn’t mean he was the best fighter. But when a man had a woman to protect he became anything he needed to.
His back hit the ground hard and fists immediately started flying. Brett had the advantage, being on top. Ellis D. took to protecting his head with his forearms rather than trying to punch back. That first landed blow had been worth it.

Alexis wasn't strong enough to pull Brett off of Ellis D. though she certainly tried. With a simple swing of his arm Brett was able to keep her at bay. But she wasn't alone, several others rushed forward and some members of the basketball team worked together to drag Brett away so was still struggling.
A girl stepped forward, "I called the cops, they are on their way," she announced. There was an instant scrambling of teenagers rushing to leave. Cece was angry. "Why did you do that!?" she said to the other girl, who Alexis didn't know. Cece knew she'd get in trouble now.
Alexis ignored all of them as she moved to Ellis D.'s side. "Are you okay?" she asked, worry in her voice.

Ellis D. had managed to get in some more blows, but not as many nor as powerful as Brett's. That much would be painfully obvious the moment Brett was pulled from him. A dark red stained the front of his shirt and was smeared across his lips and jaw, the culprit a nasty split in his lip that went high enough to pass the edge of the lip. Ellis D. was still glaring, still angry. Another hand reached for his shoulder before Alexis got to him and he jerk away from it.
Then his eyes found her. She was okay. He was relieved...and mad all at once.
"Don't worry about me." He grumbled, leaning to his side to groggily get up. He was one of the kids who would normally be running at the mention of cops. He couldn't get caught.

Alexis' expression was pained, filled with nothing but worry in spite of his words. Alexis ignored the commotion as she focused on Ellis D. The blood on her ex made her stomach twist and her hands shake.
She moved to help him up, if he let her. "That looks pretty bad, we should take you to the urgent care. You might need stitches," she said softly. "Let me take you."

Ellis D. didn’t need any help getting up. She could grab at his arm if she wanted, but he’d get up using his own strength. That’s always how it was. For a time there he’d slipped, let her in, started to depend on her...but Alexis had her priorities, and he hadn’t been one of them.
“Go home, Lex.” Ellis D. said to her, not quite a demand but something a little more irritable. He used the back door to leave the house, stepping on solo cups as he went. Lights from the police lit up the night sky. If she followed he’d keep his pace friendly, but if she didn’t then he’d trot away.

Alexis frowned when he told her to go home and as he started to walk away she hesitated for a moment, watching him leave. She knew she probably should just let him go. She shouldn't have even texted him. It wasn't fair to him but she couldn't help it. He had been her everything and she still loved him even though she had been the one to end their relationship.
After a few drawn out seconds she jogged a bit to catch up to him. "D, please don't be like that. At least let me drive you home," she said, a small tone of pleading in her voice.

Ellis D. couldn’t have put the emotions coursing through him as he walked away into words. He didn’t even try. In fact, he suppressed them to the best of the ability and honed in on his irritated anger. It didn’t look good to show up to work black and blue, much less with a split lip. Brett had got him good. He’d make sure next time, if there was ever a next time, he came better prepared.
Her footsteps behind him were simultaneously relieving and infuriating. She had done this to him. All of it. Her interest in him, their relationship, their break up, and now this. Alexis was a selfish source of toxicity in Ellis D.’s life and it was about time he told her that.
He cut a glare towards her, but the venomous words died on his lips. He could say words that hurt, surely, but he found he didn’t want to when he looked at her. He was glad she was okay. He was mad she wasn’t his.
“No, it’s fine.” He grumbled, tone less angry than his glare had been, thought by now it softened. “I’ve got my bike and it won’t fit in your car.” His bike was just ahead, leaned against a bush that would never regain its shape.

Alexis' stomach tightened and her steps faltered for a moment at the glare on Ellis D.'s face as he looked towards her. She hated to see him angry, especially when it was directed at her. It soon faded but she still felt guilty. He wasn't wrong, his bike wouldn't fit in her car.
Behind them a voice called out from the house. "Lexi! Let's GO!" One of her friends shouted at her. One of the friends who had encouraged her to end things with Ellis D. and likely wasn't happy to see her following him out of the house.
Alexis glanced back at them. "I'm coming!" she called back after a moment and turned back towards her Ex. "Hey," she said, reaching out to snag his upper arm just enough to stop him for a moment. "I'm really sorry, D. But...thank you for coming." Her eyes were pleading and desperate. She had needed him and he had come. She was convinced he'd always come when she needed him.

Damn her, he would. He liked to think he wouldn't. Every time he said this was the last...and every time he came again. It wasn't that he wanted anything from her. He didn't. He did and he didn't. No, it was because he was like that. He was the friend who did anything for his friends, and much more for someone he loved. Had once loved. Still loved? Just thinking about her was infuriating, much less looking at her now, wanting to take her with him, wanting to go with her, wanting to kiss her despite the blood on his lips.
He turned back when she took his arm, searched her face as she gave her apology and thanks. This was the last time. Even he wasn't convinced.
"Yeah, whatever." He said, shaking his arm loose from her hold. "Don't do it again, Lex. You aren't an idiot. Don't party like one." He turned on the tail of his words. If he didn't he might not have left.

Frustration boiled up inside of her. He brought out the passion in her more than anyone ever had, both on the negative and positive side of the 'passion' coin. This time it was those negative feelings of irritation at his tone. She hated when he talked to her like that.
Her gaze narrowed and she put her hands on her hips as he stared to walk away. She made an frustrated sound and actually stomped one of her feet before she turned and stalked away. She did cast one last look over her shoulder at him before she went inside and her friend hurried her out of the house.
