Alec and the town council had been working hard on the event. He was truly grateful for everyone who had helped to put it all together, it had been no small feat and his gratitude for each and every person who helped make it happen was unmatched. He couldn't do his job without the help of other capable individuals.
He was there early and had opted for a jacketless suit for the occasion. He was looking as sharp as ever though, ready to put himself out there for the sake of the town. When we the last time he'd actually been on a date? He was busy with his job as Town Councilman and with leading the pack that he rarely took time for himself these days. Maybe it was time to change that. Regardless of who ended up winning his bid, he was going on that date. He was determined in that.
He spotted Gemma Tramell and Harland Shaw and was attempted to join them, but tonight he needed to mingle with the rest of the town too and they saw him all the time. He smiled at them both and give a little wave as he moved through the crowd.
He soon spotted Elijah Vanderson and moved to approach the head of the wealthiest of the founding families. "Elijah, it's so good to see you," he said with a charming smile. He was so practiced in politics that charm came naturally to him at this point. Or maybe he always had the charm and just never thought of it that way. "I'm sorry to hear about what happened but I have no doubt a man like you will be back on his feet in no time."
There was no way in hell someone was going to get him into a monkey suit. He had been convinced to enter the auction and was still trying to figure out how he'd ended up saying yes. But here he was. He was in a casual black tee, though it did have some buttons on the front, and black jeans. He didn't look grungy but he was definitely underdressed in comparison to the people around him as he walked in.
He grabbed some sort of meatball tapas off of a tray and ate it one bite when he spotted Darcy Vance. With his mouth still full and chewing as he walked he reached her as she apologizing to a pretty blonde girl. Though blonde wasn't quite right for that hair color. He licked some sauce off of his thumb, not realizing there was a speck of sauce on the corner of his lips when he reached them.
"There you are," he said to his alpha as he reached the two women. "Thought you might have ditched me." He gave the other girl an uptick of his chin in greeting.
Maverick Sanders was running late and had promised to meet her at the auction as soon as he could. He had said he'd be on his way soon so she showed up to the event alone. She wore a short black polka dot dress. It wasn't nearly as fancy as many of the dresses she saw in the room as she entered but as a college student and hair stylist, she didn't have a lot to spend. In fact, this dress wasn't even new, it was just the 'good enough' dress she already had in her closet. Her curly hair was styled up for the evening and her thin black heels clicked on the floor as she walked. A wristlet purse hung around her wrist as she looked around the room for a moment, biting her lip.
These kinds of fancy events were not quite her scene but she would like them to be one day. After a second she took a breath and straightened her shoulders. She wasn't prone to nerves and tonight would be no different. Her tiny 5'3, thin frame slithered through the crowd as easily as a serpent as she looked around for a familiar face.
She found food first and stopped to chat with the waiter who was passing out tuna tartar bites, taking two, both for her as she thanked him.

Arturo grinned. "Me?" He asked in amusement. "You think anyone can afford all of this, amigo?" he scoffed playfully, running a hand down his chest and stomach and leaving that end point vague. "Ah, no, I do not think so," he answered his own question with a laugh. "I am quite prepared to buy who I want, though," he confirmed, casting an eye over the crowd and catching quite a few of the "bachelors" mingling in the crowd.
He caught Alec Hargrove 's eye and smiled at the werewolf alpha. Though he also noticed a few other faces he knew, including the cute waitress, Iris Whitlock . Arturo enjoyed feeling a bit more attached to the crowd that he usually did. It was something he hadn't gone in for in a while.
The vampire turned his attention back to Giacomo. "But I would not mind you...'lingering' with me," he said with a soft and intense tone as he grinned, very aware it was a silly thing to say. "Fancy anyone yourself?" He asked quickly after, curious and encouraging. He turned his gaze back to the crowd, making note of a few "newer" faces. The tiny young vixen (Max Salah ) was quite something. So was Eowyn Wyrm , though he recognized neither of them and couldn't catch a good look or scent in the crowd. But he was quite aware of the mix of mortals and various others in the building.

The sound of the door opening was drowned out by the sound of water spraying from the sink. Ferris leaned against the porcelain sink, running his hand under the water as it warmed up, grimacing to himself. He caught a slight movement in the mirror at the corner of his eye and looked up just as the other man spoke.
The young man was painfully familiar. And even more painfully attractive. Which...unsettled Ferris on a number of levels.
His eyes met the guy's in the mirror and he stared at him for a breath, unable to put all the emotions that jolted through him into words or even thought. "Uh, no, I'm alright," he asserted, looking over his shoulder at the man as he moved next to his side. Not the closest he had ever been to another man in the men's room. He'd brushed elbows plenty of times just to take a piss and the fire station was the worst when it came to personal space. But there was something about the look the man gave him.
"Ferris," he said, reaching across himself to offer the guy his left hand that wasn't covered in blood. "Apologies, I'm terrible with names." He knew he had seen the guy around before. Probably have even talked to him more than once.
He reached back to the first aid kit he had set on the counter, pulling out a wheel of gauze and the medical tape and realizing there wasn't actually any scissors in the kit. That was fine, he had a pocketknife, if he could somehow manage to get to it. And hold the gauze. And open the antibiotic and all these things so much easier with two hands. "Think you could you help a guy out, eh?" he awkwardly asked Bastian Pennington.
At some point the music quieted, though didn't stop, as a beautiful blonde woman in her 40s walked up onto the new makeshift stage at the pinnacle of the room. "Hello everyone and welcome to our first, and hopefully not last," she said with a wink, "Sweetwater Bachelor Auction!!"
The servers had taken a break from their drink trays and were moving through the room handing out numbered paddles to keep track of bidders. A quiet man in his 20s in glasses that seemed to magnify his eyes stood on the floor at the corner of the stage with a notebook in hand to write down the winners of each bachelor.
The woman on the stage spoke again as another younger woman approached her holding a top hat and behaving as if she was Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune. "Our bachelor's names have all been added to this hat and the order will be chosen at random. Bids begin at $50, please raise your paddle when making subsequent bids so we know who our lucky winners are!"
"Without futher ado, let's begin! Bachelors, the stage is yours when you're up here so do with it as you will," she gave an exaggerated smirk and a wink and a few little chuckles filtered through the crowd. She rummaged her hand around in the hat for a moment and pulled out a name at random. "Please welcome to the stage...
- Please allow Tristan Morrigan to post first. ***(Tristan, at the end of your post please add: The host of the event smiled to the crowd and motioned to Tristan, "Who will start the bidding at $50!?")*** - Bidding will then begin. Please try to keep posts short for bidding, no more than a paragraph-ish, so we can keep things moving. Bidding will happen for 3 days, so if you want to win a bid please be sure to pop on as often as you can during that time. There is no post order so keep those bids coming. - We have a great group of people here so I'm not particularly worried about this but do try to keep in mind how much money your character would actually be able and willing to spend for such a bid. - Honestly, I'm not sure the best way to do the bidding, so this is what we're gonna try for at least this round and I may or may not make adjustments as the thread continues! - Bidding will officially end the morning of the 25th (or sooner if it's clear that the bidding is completed). - Bachelors were chosen at random by a number generator. - Non bidders are still allowed to post during bidding with no post order

Catching up with the very tasty brunette would have to wait for later, it seemed. Tristan didn't hear the woman at first, what with her being on his bad side, but it became very clear a few words in as the room quieted and the music softened. He half turned to the stage and then glanced back at Elrond before focusing on the woman as she explained the evening a bit more. He wasn't quite sure what people would be bidding on him for...or why... He couldn't imagine they would be buying him to own. But to...borrow? For a date? That sounded like a normal thing.
Were auctions like this normal?
Certainly, the number of werewolves in attendance weren't. Or the vampires. Or whatever else he could smell; it was all a bit much.
He had turned back to the tall table he'd left his roommate at and was setting the drinks down when he heard his name called. He tilted his head and raised an eyebrow. Well, he supposed going first was one way to find out how this was going to turn out.
The werewolf huffed softly and turned toward the small stage, perfectly unaware that he was a tad underdressed for 'formal.' He paused and gave the hostess a nod as he stepped up, and then a bow to the crowd. Tristan wasn't entirely sure what he was meant to be doing. She had said the stage was his but...maybe he should have thought about some talent he could show off? Perhaps that was a bit silly. He wasn't exactly trying to impress anyone anyway. That was simply too much effort.
His dark eyes swept the crowd, not sure if he recognized anyone else with the glare of the overheard light. He could tell from scent alone there were familiar people out there. The man offered one of his signature knowing smiles as he felt those eyes returned. That simple attention felt very nice indeed.
The host of the event smiled to the crowd and motioned to Tristan, "Who will start the bidding at $50!?"

Lorelle had arrived fashionably late. She hadn't gotten the chance to mingle, but she was sure she'd be able to do so later on. The vampire had taken a seat in a beautiful formal red dress with a sheer black fabric on top, giving it the illusion of shadow.
At first, she hadn't had any interest in coming to this event, but she needed to meet new people, and she was also interested in seeing what the auction had to offer. She was curious what they could actually do with their bachelors if they won one, and she was planning on finding out.
When she saw Tristan Morrigan , a mysterious smile appeared on her face. The bidding started, and immediately she raised her paddle. "Me" she said, hoping to make eye contact with the werewolf she had met a while ago.
