03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
Jack jumped when the sound suddenly seemed closer to them. He had expected they were still quite a bit further away. Perhaps it was just that the fog was disorienting. Jack trying to use his hand as a fan to move the fog a bit out of the way. It wasn't exactly successful.
He nodded to Brodie's orders and remained vigilant, his palms getting sweaty on the handle of the bat.
Blair nodded to @aurelia. "Very strange. Nothing like this ever happened in California." She said, still trying to see anything at all out the window. She sighed, wished they could be out there too. "Don't worry, we'll make up for it later. We can go do something fun." She said, nudging her friend in the side.
"I suppose that is true though fun is happening now and we are stuck. Well I know that it is still foggy and scary but I have some marshmallows I stole..I mean friendly helped myself too. Want to eat some to pass the time?"
The voiced called out again. "Please help me..." But this time there was a deep growl beneath it. As the men took another step towards the sound a large shape leaped at them, heading directly for Brodie's chest.
Charles kept a close eye on the children in his home, there weren't a ton of adults, just a handful with some of the smallest children. He didn't bother looking outside. He would wait patiently for news. For now, he just scanned the room, sitting near the front the door so rebellious teenagers didn't try to sneak out.
Blair glanced over at the door to see their Principal sitting there. She was sure his intention was to guard it. How annoying. At the mention of marshmallows though she perked up. "Ooo yes!" She said, clapping her hands together. What teenager didn't love sugar?
Honestly it was times like this that she wished she knew magic. "Hey can I ask you something strange?" she said as she handed @blair a marshmallow. "Do you believe in magic? Not the type of rabbits out of the hat type of stuff. I mean the darker stuff I guess. Like if witches were real?"
Brodie frowned and stopped in his tracks as the voice changed. It inspired fear. He froze and was tempted to run, but there was nowhere to go--at least that's what he felt. He saw the shadow but it was too late. There was nothing he could do except pull the trigger of his gun--which he did--and then succumb to the weight of whatever it was that would fall upon him.
The growl that suddenly heard in the voice made the hair on the back of Jack's neck stand on end. His heart pounded furiously with fear and adrenaline. It was quickly made clear that there was something more dangerous out here, more than just a lost person in need.
Something large leapt up towards Brodie, the gun went off, and the two fell to the ground. Jack hurried forward with his bat and swung at the thing.
Blair took the offered marshmallow and popped into her mouth. The pillow like treat was delightful and made her feel a bit better. "We should go find a fireplace." She said, tugging @aurelia further into the house. Surely a house this large had a fireplace.
Blair considered her friend's question. "I don't know. I haven't thought about it before." She said. "Why? Do you?" She asked curiously.
A gun shot was fired and it made contact with the creature's shoulder. As Brodie looked up at the creature on it's chest he'd see a bear like creature in appearance about the size of a wolf with a skeletal looking face and raggedy matted fur. A red, wet spot blossomed from it's shoulder and it's jaw snapped at Brodie's face before Jack hit in the head with the bat. The creature turned it's attention to Jack and started stalking toward him. It opened his mouth and a voice came out.
"Come towards my voice. I'm a sheriff. I'm here to help." It was Brodie's voice.
The thing that came at Brodie brought no name to his mind--only fear. He cried out as its bulk came down on him, crushing his chest, surely breaking ribs. Beyond the surprise and pain, he also cried out in pure, unadulterated fear. He had never before seen anything like this. It was a hideous beast, and he was afraid his end in life had come. He was full of so much regret...
The end didn't come. In fact, the beast removed itself from him, and Brodie scrambled onto his stomach to see it going for Jack.
"No, Jack!" He called in a panic, fumbling with his gun, firing multiple times, only about three out of five shots actually pointed towards his target.
It was only as the creature stalked towards him that Jack got a good look at the creature, the thing was terrifying and that terror was only made exponentially worse at the voice that came from the monster. It was Brodie, something Brodie had said only moments before. It was then that he thought that perhaps there had never been a lost girl calling for help. Only this monster. But then where had the monster got the first voice...was it another victim?
Jack stood frozen for a too long until Jack called out to him and as the gun fired Jack's first reaction was to turn away, covering his head with his arms.
The Sheriff's gun fired and hit the skeletal wolf creature several times. A woman's cry of pain escaped from the animal with a deep undertone of a growl and a whimper. Clearly quite injured, it stumbled a moment and then scurried off into the fog away from the men.
Kate heard the sound of the gunshots and brought her hands to her mouth, her eyes wide with fear and tears welling up in them. What was happening out there? Was someone hurt?
