03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
He’d been saying a goodbye to MJ when that happened and honestly felt confused. Unlike the other teenagers, Mike wasn’t talking to anyone about going in. Instead he was full of curiosity and thinking over what to do. The adventurous side said he should go all in. Who cares if he got in trouble?
The other side was saying to get the heck out of there.
Maybe he needed to tell himself the other side - that he shouldn’t go and put himself in danger. Or maybe it was just the fog that rooted him on spot. But he had yet to move either way. “What the heck is going on here...?” He murmured.
MJ only looked at @blair, a tinge of hurt in her eyes. Maybe she was chicken. Maybe she was. But despite everything she didn't want to see Blair get hurt. When the principal told them to go inside MJ went eagerly, ducking her head and stepping quickly so she could get away from her old best friend.
The principal was always coming in and ruining the fun but she did not like not seeing her father. She turned to the principal. "IF anything happens to my father that will be your ass." She did not mean it as rude as it came out but she wanted the principal to know that she was serious.
Charlie didn't particularly appreciate the bad language but this was a very stressful situation and it was the girl's father who had gone running out into the fog. "Don't worry, dear." He said to @aurelia with a kind smile despite her attitude. "Your father can take care of himself. I'm sure he'll be just fine." He assured her warmly with a small pat on her back as the entered the house.
As @brodie stepped into the fog the sound of crying got a little closer. "Please..." whimpered the voice. Still, nothing could be seen beyond the continually thickening blanket of fog.
Jack had heard Kate's plea to help @brodie. He hesitated. He was far from having any sort of experience like the Sheriff, but he did want a good excuse to go out there. He grabbed a bat from a nearby carnival game and headed out into the fog to follow the direction that Brodie had gone.
As soon as they were in the house Blair moved to pull @aurelia to the nearest window, pulling back the curtains to look out at the fog. If they couldn't be out there then she at least wanted to see what was going on. She completely ignored @mj.
"What do you think is happening out there?" She asked her friend.
"Where are you?" Brodie called, whipping left and right, barely able to see more than five feet from him due to the thickness. He was now thinking about the stupidity of plunging in without a plan--or a partner--but he was here now and not going back without the girl.
"Come towards my voice. I'm a sheriff. I'm here to help." He kept saying assuring things, hoping whoever was out there would be able to find him.
Kate bit her lip and danced on her toes as she stared out into the fog where Brodie and Jack had disappeared. She was too afraid to follow and felt the fear prickling her skin and her stomach twisting in knots.
Please be safe, please be safe. She thought to herself.
Midday shifts always messed with her. Morning and night shifts didn’t usually faze her, but working odd hours such as 10:00am to 7:00pm, always, without fail, ruined her entire day. Being an early riser normally, trying to find stuff to do before heading into work was a pain in the ass, and more often than not, she found herself laying in her lonely queen bed scrolling through her Facebook page. The few people she had added over her five years in Sweetwater posted about the Founders day Festival, something she had always found an excuse to steer clear of. Whether she scheduled herself to work it, or came down with a ‘debilitating head cold’, Katerina was an expert at avoiding the entire Festival.
Unfortunately, her health was perfect, and her shift ended at a reasonable enough time that heading home was not an option. There would be talk no doubt about her missing the festival for the fifth year in a row, so as soon as she changed out of her scrubs, Katerina put on a brave face and made her way to the festival. Stopping only to grab a coffee - more cream than coffee, but no one needed to know that - her ankle boots crunched over the gravel and her stomach twisted in knots at the sight of the gathered people. Apparently everyone was there. Wrapping her left arm around her waist, pulling her short black jacket tightly, she managed a few smiles before moving towards an unoccupied table and sitting.
Her brown eyes landed on the Sheriff, a cool glass of water amongst the younger residents, and she watched him move. After a few moments she found herself staring at his ass beneath his uniform and her cheeks flushed, dropping her gaze immediately to stare at the lid of her coffee. The scream of a young girl drew her attention back to the world around her, and her embarrassment about ogling the Sheriff was forgotten. Standing up from the table, the short Greek woman jogged towards where the Sheriff was, and glanced towards Jack, unable to make anything other than a worried look appear upon her face, as he too, disappeared into the fog.
“Sheriff?” Calling out, she took a few steps forward and then stopped. If anything happened in there, she’d need to at least be able to help. She would be no use to anyone if she was lost in the fog. Back tracking a bit so that she was no longer touching the fog, she pulled out the pair of gloves she kept in purse and slipped them on her hands, careful not to puncture them with her long nails.
Brodie heard something moving behind him and turned sharply, gun pointed directly at Jack Hollifield.
"Jack!" He said his name as if it were a curse word. "Kid, you can't--" he wanted to cuss, and he noticed for the first time that there was a tremor in his hand. It was slight, still allowing him to shoot straight as long as he didn't try to shoot when it moved into his finger.
"Go back. I don't want you getting hurt." Despite his words, he was thankful for the company. He turned back towards the voice and pressed onward.
[ Sorry, I hadn't seen that Jack had come in before ]
Jack startled when suddenly there was a gun pointed at him, and he tossed his hands up in instinct. His camera bounced on his hip a bit painfully, luckily he had the strap on so it didn't tumble to the ground. He looked a bit guiltily at the sheriff. "Sorry..." He mumbled.
However, as the man told him to go back Jack shook his head. "You shouldn't be out here alone, you have no other back up right now." He said, perhaps defiantly and lowered his hands to moved into a more prepared stance as he held the bat with both hands and tucked the camera behind his back.
"I have absolutely no idea what is going on out there. I know that I am curious but i do not know if it is worth getting into it with my father for but this town seems strange don't you think?"
As Brodie moved closer with Jack the sounds of a voice calling for help turned into crying and mumbled words of 'please' and 'scared'. Then suddenly the soundly the sound called out from less than 10 feet from them, it was clear that whoever was crying was moving towards them while they moved towards them.
The voice was coming closer. It was also less panicked now and more...eerie. Mumbling. Almost deranged sounding, Brodie thought, but what did he know? He still couldn't see anything.
"Stay alert." He whispered to Jack, continuing to move forward.
"We're right here. It's Sheriff Sanders and his friend. I have a gun but I'm not here to harm you, I'm here to help." He quickened his pace, in case whoever needed help was bleeding out.
