03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
Jack fought the urge to take a photo of the boy as he ate, figuring it would be nicer to at least talk to him first. "Ya, I guess." he said with a small smile. "Mostly when I'm taking photos of other people having fun though." He admitted and moved a little closer to @reece.
"Mind if I sit?" He asked, motioning towards the seat on the opposite of the table as Reece. "What about you?" He returned the initial question.
"Yes! Definitely the boys." Blair replied with a grin. The two girls made their way towards the Ferris Wheel and were soon standing in a short line. Blair stood on her toes to look over the heads of a few people. It seemed to be moving fairly quickly at least.
"After the Festival?" She asked @aurelia. "I don't know yet. Why? Do you have any fun ideas?!" She asked, her enthusiasm rising.
"I'm thinking about ditching this place and do some real fun." She smiled. "I just don't necessarily want to go by myself." She hoped that @blair would take that as a hint to go but if she did not then she would just ask her to join her.
Blair smirked mischievously in reply. They reached the Ferris Wheel and climbed inside and Blair scooted close to Aurelia in a conspiratorial way as the ride started. "Let's do it! What do you have in mind?" She asked. The Ferris Wheel started to rise up and Blair looked out at the rest of the festival and Sweetwater in the distance.
It was a sweet little town, usually, expect when the random scary occurrences started happening. She didn't like that. Overall, Sweetwater was nice but one day Blair wanted to leave, to move to a big city with lots of people and nice things.
Brodie, patrolling, glanced towards his daughter and the Whittaker girl. He liked Blair. She was sweet and her father only sang her praise. The two of them hanging out was a good thing, he decided with a smile.
MJ saw the hesitation. Why would he not want her to know? It was a small town, she'd said. Everyone knew everyone, she implied. She'd find out his name sooner or later. Maybe it was because he wasn't interested in being friends. Well fine. Maybe she wasn't either.
"Cool. Nice meeting you, Michael. I'll see you around, okay?" She motioned to her tray, indicating she had to keep working. She moved away from him then, targeting a group of kids talking and would offer what she had to them.
As the festival hit it's peak a slow fog started to creep over the lawn from the direction of the forest. It was low, no higher than people's calves as it started to fill the grounds of the festival.
Then, in the distance, outside of the borders of the festival and near the forest there was a piercing scream. It wasn't heard by everyone at first, just the people on the edge of the party. They fell silent in order to listen.
A soft, distant sounding call for help was heard and in a slow wave the festival started to get more and quiet as people stopping talking in order to listen. Even the sound of music started to get quieter, though no one could explain why.
"HELP ME!!!" Shrieked a pained cry in the distance.
@charles @brodie @mj @kate @aurelia Jack Hollifield @michael @blair @reece
He was still doing well with his food when he heard the shriek. It was hard to ignore and he immediately looked around. "Anyone know what's going on?" he asked but the clear fear of finding out trapped in his voice. He figured that law enforcement individuals were around so he was not as gung ho about going out but he did want others to know that if they went in a group to search for the sound, he would go as well.
She went to go answer @blair when the sound was heard. "Blair!," she said all too excitedly. "Want to sneak off and see what that was?" They would not be able to not get around the cops long but a head start could mean so much. "Or do you think that we should just simply stay here?"
Brodie was on the outskirts of the party and among the first to see the fog. He didn't like it. He knew they were a mountain town but that didn't seem right. It didn't seem natural.
When the screaming started he pulled his gun out of its holster and raised it.
"I'm going in!" He told whoever was around. He wouldn't have back up...but a girl was in need. He needed to help her.
The Sheriff boldly plunged into the fog, weapon raised, eyes alert.
MJ didn't notice the fog. She was in the center of the party when it started to spread. By the time the girl started screaming, however, she was close enough to hear. She started and dropped the tray she was holding and everything on it.
She happened to be close enough to @aurelia and @blair to hear Aurelia suggest that they go investigate what was happening.
"Don't. That would be stupid." She sounded harsh, even mean, but she said it because she cared about their safety.
When Jack noticed the fog he took notice of the appearance of it. Fog didn't just roll in like this, did it? Not in this weather, not in this way. Right? He found himself crouching down in order to start taking photos of it.
He heard the screams and he stood once more. The sheriff moved into the fog without any backup. That seemed, dangerous. Also exciting. Jack desperately wanted to see what this was. If it was something supernatural then he wanted to be the first to photograph it.
He moved towards the place where Brodie ran into the fog but paused, still on the outskirts of the party.
Silence started to fill his lawn as the fog began to roll out. Everything got eerily quiet. At the sound of the cry for help Charlie's hair stood on end, getting goosebumps on his arms. "We don't know what's happening." He said to his wife. "We need to get the children inside."
He started moving around to collect children, and their parents if they were around, to direct them into the safely of the house. He had a very large house. He couldn't fit everyone but he could get the kids.
He then found @reece and approached him. "Reece, go on inside my boy." He said motioned towards the house where other kids were headed. He then spotted the group of girls, @mj, @aurelia, and @blair. "Girls, come inside now." He demanded them in his 'Principal' tone, standing behind them and attempting to practically herd them into the house.
The growing silence was unnerving and Kate immediately started to look for her niece and nephew as well as Brodie. She had just moved to the outskirts of the party when Brodie plunged into the fog. "Brodie!" She called out, pleading in her town. She turned back to the crowd.
"We can't just let him go in on his own. We have to help him." Maybe it was dangerous, but maybe it wasn't and the girl who was calling for help was trapped or something with little danger to others...
Blair's eyes lit up at @aurelia's suggestion to go into the fog and see what was happening, adrenaline coursing through her with the excitement of the thought. @mj spoke up from near them and Blair rolled her eyes. "You're just chicken." She said.
However, it was then that Principal approached them and started to herd them towards the house. They didn't have a lot of choice if they didn't want to get into trouble later. So much for sneaking. She looked at Aurelia with a disappointed expression. So much for that idea.
