03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
Darcy had become well aware of another new wolf in town, and figured it might be a good idea to meet with him. Technically she could have asked one of the pack sentinels to do it, but she liked to meet the new wolves on her own. Sure, it could be dangerous, but Ferris was only a-
Wait, not Ferris.
Rhett.
Rhett was only a phone call away, her Beta. Ferris wasn’t involved in pack stuff, but she knew exactly why her mind wandered to him. The imprint bond was quite the intense thing. Plus, he had been staying a lot over at her place, which she loved; but knew not to let herself get too used to. After all, it wasn’t like they were a couple… as much as she ached for there to be something more than just their odd friendship and friends with benefits thing… it got confusing.
And was not what she wanted to be thinking as she strummed her fingers along her jean covered thigh. These jeans were dark wash and hugged her in all the right places, she had on a pair of black combat boots and an oversized green flannel with the sleeves rolled up. Her wild curls had refused to be tamed this morning and she just let them be, slipping out of her truck and looking around the motel parking lot.
She didn’t need to try hard to locate which room was his, the scent of the new wolf easy enough to pick up on. Darcy walked to room 10 and gave a quick knock. It was only about five thirty, and still daylight for a few more hours. If anything, she might invite the wolf out for a meal or a run, depending on his preference.
Brian had been sat in his usual spot in the motel room , it was underneath the ruddy glow of the yellow light at the oak table that was wedged in the corner. Bottles , leaflets , and the distinct shine of his .357 was enough to paint a depressing but odd scene . Through the haze of alcohol and his own self loathing icy blue eyes stared at his hand that was extended out in front of him ; thoughts of it becoming a wolf paw flooded his mind’s eye . Then , he would feel a short agony followed by his pink fingers retreating where they’d take their new form claws covered with light brown fur . “ What am I ? A beast or a man . “ A somber mumble parted his lips until that knock at his door stole from him from the depths of wolfen contemplation .
( “ Shit . “ ) Why did people visit him at the worse times ? Brian had unexpectedly began to learn how to transform at will even if it was stone cold drunk . Again , he thought of the wolfish paw taking on a shade of pink and flesh , then within a few painful seconds it returned to a hand — the only evidence of his grizzly practice was the wild smell of the wolf .
A quick glance in the bathroom mirror revealed Brian’s half decent appearance . A dirty green and black shirt , blue jeans , and well worn brown boots . It would have to do but his main concern was his drunken state that might leave a sore impression with his visitor , oh well . He undid the locks on the front door and opened it to be met by the face of : another stranger . . . if he paid attention to his senses this would’ve been obvious but he didn’t care about that side of him .
“ Hello , Ma’am . “ Brian groaned out the words : a pitiful attempt to mask his clear drunkenness . “ Not to sound impolite , but ain’t late for house calls ? “
Honestly, Darcy hadn’t considered exactly what she might even say. Which was precisely why it wasn’t her who generally reached out to a new wolf in town first. But then again, she wasn’t typically known for sticking with the typical pack protocols in place. But still, she was quite the quick thinker and trusted herself to come up with something. She could easily pick up on the familiar scent of alcohol before the door was opened, so she wasn’t so completely taken aback when he unlocked the door and opened it.
Darcy offered her usual charming smile as she gave a polite nod of her head, then a slightly embarrassed chuckle. If he took note of her werewolf scent, he made no sign of showing it. “Oh, sorry I wasn’t trying to intrude…” She offered an apologetic dip of her head. Clearly in his inebriated state he wasn’t likely going to be ‘up for a run’ or a hike. So there went that plan. Instead she extended a hand.
“The name’s Darcy, I’m one of the local forest rangers and I just…”
Okay, so much for being quick thinking on her feet. Perhaps she should have had a better plan?
“Like to periodically stop by our town visitors and offer some special discounts on guided tours of the caves and trails.” Perhaps not the most eloquent offer, but believable and also true. Darcy was all the time trying to get more visitors interested in the guided tours. Plus, her bag always had a stack of blank vouchers to support this claim, she temporarily rummaged through the work brown leather bag that hung over her shoulder for a moment, pulling the vouchers and a pen out and offering a smile.
“Sorry if my timing isn’t exactly ideal, I’m usually at work earlier in the day and don’t get to making my rounds until about this time.”
Okay, that one was definitely not a lie and came out much more smoothly. “If you’re interested I can leave my information with you and you can get to see some of the amazing trails in the area.”
Also, not a lie.
Darcy might have been throwing things out in a slightly less awkward attempt of conversation with the stranger, but she did love her work as a forest ranger and was very much in support of everyone getting the chance to see just how breathtaking Sweetwater’s hiking trails and caves were.
