03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
His comment made her brow raise slightly with a playful grin taking to her lips as he nudged her. Honestly, he wasn’t wrong. Even if he only meant it in jest; Darcy could be quite raw and gritty. She wasn’t exactly all that ‘put together’ lately. But, there were worse ways to be thought of. It wasn’t as if he hadn’t seen her in those painfully gritty and raw moments after changing from a wolf into a human before, or witnessed her very naked and injured… it was rather strange to think back on how their, well; whatever this thing was- all started.
It wasn’t lost on her just where he might think no she was taking the conversation. Because let’s face it; subtlety was not Darcy’s strong suit when it came to her very obvious attraction and desire for Ferris. But honestly, regardless of the imprint bond; he had easily become her favorite person to spend time with. Even when things weren’t explicitly sexual between them. Which, outside of her friendship with Rhett that could occasionally be considered rather strained; she didn’t typically have. In her time living in Sweetwater, Darcy could count on one hand how many ‘friendships’ she had made that extended beyond a few moments of shared physical intimacy.
But with Ferris… it was just, different.
Yes, she wanted him in every meaning of the word, that much was obvious. But she could contain herself and be there for him in less physical capacities too.
Though, sometimes it wasn’t as easy to rein in those more carnal desires for him to be inside her. Hell, just the thought could make her blush and any supernatural creature with heightened sense of smell could pick up on just how she was feeling.
Still, watching his face process as she teased the idea of a more naughty response, only to pop off with an actual ride; amused her to no end. She tsk’d at him with a gentle shake of her head. “Now who’s mind is in the gutter.”
Hers. One-hundred percent.
His slight pause and look of almost, confusion -maybe?- made her feel a touch embarrassed over the show of affection. Of course she shouldn’t have done that, that wasn’t something people who were just friends with benefits did.
But they weren’t just friends with benefits. They were also actual friends too. Which is likely what made the show of affection more confusing. Because ‘friends’ didn’t act like this either. And now she was thinking too much and letting all those frustrated thoughts toward herself resurface over her stupid choice of words. So she continued to tug him in tow to the line for the ferris wheel, which wasn’t all that long. Darcy was thankful for the less intense lighting of the festival, as it helped downplay the obviousness in her blush.
Why was she suddenly nervous?
It was stupid, wanting to ride a silly festival ride. It wasn’t like they were in some cheesy rom-con and he was suddenly just going to confess feelings or anything so ridiculous. So why did she suddenly feel melancholy?
Did…
No. That would be ridiculous.
She didn’t actually want him to have deeper feelings for her…
Right?
Of course not. That would be so selfish.
Ferris deserved the best -most ‘normal’- life imaginable. Not some twised supernatural horror story where the girl is actually a wolf, where hell hounds caused forest fires, and vampires fed on people or where sirens abused people…
“Ya know, we can just walk around and play some of the games, or just walk; no need to drag you onto rides if you’re not feeling it.” Darcy still managed a smile, though this one seemed to not quite reach her eyes and she gave a slight shrug. Now she felt guilty, knowing what he’d been dealing with, that she was pushing him for something he might not be entirely in want of made her feel bad. And not just him coming out to the festival. But her tendency to turn things to a more sexually charged setting. It wasn’t fair to expect him to just be fine and want something just because she did.
Especially when she doubted there would ever be a time where she didn’t want him like that.
Fucking. Imprint. Bond.
“It’s up to you.” She found herself saying with a softer tone and she nearly dropped his hand. Why was she like this? Why did she have to get all in her head over something that really didn’t have to be so complicated. She was the one who was supposed to be cheering him up and helping him have fun.
She was the one who was supposed to be happy and smiling and not at all weighed down. So, she smiled again and gave his hand a gentle squeeze before nudging his arm. “Or we can try some other beers.” of course, because alcohol was exactly more of what she needed…

The Fire Chief glared at her, expression more tired than accusing. He shook his head and snorted. So maybe he was thinking about her more and more each time her elbow bumped his or she took his hand. But someone had sent him quite a lot of videos. She was such a tease.
Especially for kissing him like that. But rather than dwell on it, Ferris simply brushed it off. He had enough on his mind and it was easier to let his feet carry him after his friend and into the line.
At least until she changed her mind suddenly. Ferris looked at Darcy in the darkness, her face and curls highlighted by the lights of the Ferris wheel and the string lights hanging overhead. Maybe he should have noticed sooner. Was he being a bad friend? He could blame his own problems and mental shortcomings all he wanted but it wouldn't help. “Level with me. What's wrong?” Even more than the kiss, Darcy suddenly being so indecisive and flaky was…weird.
It didn't matter what he was or wasn't feeling. Left to himself, he would be in bed at the station or just laying on the couch watching some of the crew play games or clean. Or hole up in his office and clear out reports.
Instead, he was here. With his best friend. And she was clearly not telling him something.
To be completely honest, she ought to have expected the direct question from him. The two didn’t seem to really pull their punches with one another, so it truly should have come as a surprise to her. And yet, Darcy found herself biting her bottom lip and trying not to look so obviously thrown. “What makes you think something’s wrong?”
Okay, maybe not her best attempt at deflecting, and one he would very clearly see through. Darcy ran a hand through her curls, before gently shaking her head. She couldn’t tell him everything, but he deserved more than simple deflections.
“I just got a little stuck in my head for a minute.” She started, offering a sheepish half smile as she gave his hand a firm squeeze. “I’m good, I just don’t want you to feel like I’m pushing you too much into anything. ” And that would be what she chose to share. Because telling him anything more personal felt like it might just be too much…
That she was ‘too much’.
“If you’re fine with me dragging you along for these things, then just tell me to shut up and we can get back to my regularly scheduled shenanigans.” This time her smile did light up her eyes and she gave a playful wink, bumping her shoulder with his and trying to shake off her own thoughts.

Ferris didn't say a word. Only looked her, folding his arms loosely. He didn't know there was a problem. Not really. But she was acting strange, not like her usual self. Not like she was spaced out or not present, but like she was one person one minute and a different one the next. It was concerning. The Darcy he knew wasn't such a pushover or indecisive. Hearing her poor deflection was almost insulting. But at the same time, he of all people wasn't going to judge.
Not when he had days where he just felt empty for no reason. Sometimes there just wasn't an answer and the best thing someone could do was to accept that and move on.
“The fuck does that mean?” He asked only because she replied to him. Not that she seemed all that interested in talking. “You could say nothing in less words,” he pointed out. He accused her, but gently. Not angry or upset, just…tired. He would rather her say something important or not waste either of their time or effort by explaining nothing. “The point is that you don't care about that. So either commit to the ride or tell me you don't want to hang out.”
It seemed easy enough to him. Not that he was trying to be callous or avoid trying to understand. But they had been having a fine moment until her facade slipped and now he was pretty sure she was faking whatever this was just for him and it was weird.
He didn't move, not even when the line stepped up and the people behind them gave them looks. If she wanted to make this a scene, Ferris didn't care. But he wanted her to pick what she wanted to do and to be happy about it. Not to feel guilty or obligated or anything else that was going to make sitting next to her on a ferris wheel weird. “If I’m going to committ to sitting really close to you for the next fifteen minutes, I want you to want to be there. And to actually be there.”
None of this “stuck in her head” bullshit. Even he was better at managing his depression than whatever that was.
Darcy winced slightly at Ferris’s words, feeling the sting of his bluntness. She knew he was right—she’d been holding back, trying to mask her confusion and guilt. She took a deep breath, her initial instinct to give as good as she got… but it was Ferris. He wasn’t being unreasonable. She was the one who messed this up.
Again.
“You’re right, ” She admitted, her voice softer as she didn’t even hesitate with a response. “But there’s no where else I’d rather be than here with you” She shifted her stance, meeting his gaze with a mixture of determination and vulnerability. “I want to ride this ride with you.” whatever bullshit she was working through in her mess of a mind, one thing she wanted to be made perfectly clear was how much she wanted to spend time with him.
Darcy offered him a sincere smile, trying to convey her genuine feelings. She reached out and took hold of his arm to ease them forward in line, hoping to bridge the gap her indecision had created. “Let’s ride the Ferris wheel. And if you’re up for it afterward, we can grab some another drink.” She didn’t care if other people were watching or if they were considered to be ‘making a scene’. She cared about reassuring the man she loved that she wanted more than anything to enjoy this time with him. “Je te le promets, je veux être ici. Je veux être avec toi.” Swapping things up be slipping into French was more for herself, trying to refrain from being overheard. Small towns liked to talk after all. Plus, sometimes it was easier to be open in her native tongue.

So maybe he was being a bit too direct. He wasn't trying to start a fight or make things awkward, but so they were. Darcy at leaat seemed to realize her cagey attitude wasn't what he wanted when he asked how she was. If she was going to poke him to talk to her and not bottle things up, he was going to do the same. And she didn't have any excuse.
When she still didn't quite explain what the problem was though, he didn't push. She didn't want to talk and they were holding up a line. So he let it go and stepped forward, moving them up to the second spot. “Good. So do I.” He might not want to be here alone, but she was good company, and he hoped his actions of staying with her spoke more eloquently than his words did.
He grinned. “Really keen on the drinking today aren't we,” he noted. “Sure. I won't say no.” He reached into his pocket to pull out his lighter and a cigarette as he figured out the French. He thumbed the lighter a few times, trying to figure out how Darcy meant it. How to respond. “Uh. Je veux-”
“Excuse me, sir,” the ride attendant looked over at him, interrupting the moment and Ferris' thoughts. “This is a smoke free ride.”
Ferris looked at him, faked an apologetic smile, and put the pack and lighter back. Right. Sure. But he’d like to see the guy stop him on the ferris wheel.
“Like to see him stop me,” he mumbled, not finishing his previous sentence. He was still thinking about it though. He wanted to be here and with Darcy, too. But the way she said it… “Think they'll kick me off?” He asked seriously. “What about for your…shenanigans?”
Darcy hadn’t intended to make herself seem so flaky, not when she truly did want to be here with him and to enjoy whatever fun they thought to make of this festival and such. Still, she managed to dance around completely answering his question for the time being. It just… wasn’t the time to talk about it. Instead, she offered a more natural smile as she followed him to step up in the line once more, giving a nod to his words. He might not always have the most eloquent way of speaking, but the fact that he expressed wanting to ride the ride with her, and was still standing right there with her; she couldn’t ask for more.
“I mean, I am the one buying your drinks. And have been drinking less lately, so I just figured the town festival is as good a reason as any to enjoy a drink or two.” And it was just a few beers, it wasn’t as if she was hammering down something heavier.
Of course Darcy was curious to know what he was going to say in response, but being interrupted by the ride attendant, she couldn’t help but chuckle with slight amusement. “Oh, if your attempts to smoke don’t get us kicked off, my shenanigans will definitely get us booted from the ride.” She teased with a mischievous grin and a wink. They moved forward once more and would be seated in the next available seat after the attendant got the pair ahead of them situated and secured. As the Ferris wheel turned a bit more and came to a stop, the attendant opened the gate and nodded for them to move on in.
“Come on.” She said with a smile as she tugged his arm and moved to slide into the seat.

She was buying tonight. Which, if he wasn't careful, would also turn into her driving. Not that it really mattered, Sweetwater was a small town, he could always walk to his truck. But he liked feeling able to do his own thing, even if he didn't particularly want anything at all and would just end up laying there watching TV. More importantly though, he knew Darcy was trying a lot harder than him and succeeding at not giving in entirely to her vices. She was a great friend, and he wanted to support that. To that end, he'd try not to drink too much in front of her and of course would give her a hard time about overdoing it.
"Guess we're screwed no matter what," he noted with a snort. So maybe he shouldn't smoke on the giant wheel, that would be the decent, polite thing to do, otherwise everyone else on the ride was going to be inhaling secondhand smoke. Ferris might be a smoker, but he wasn't oblivious. He knew it was his choice and he wasn't inclined to make that choice for other people. Hence why he smoked out back at the station or his apartment and why he didn't usually light up in his truck. It was harder and harder to keep his own rules though.
Ferris continued to play with the lighter in his pocket as Darcy tugged him forward on their turn. He was at least feeling better than when she had first joined him, and he didn't mind her fun. He slid into the seat next to her, stretching out as best he could, which wasn't much considering how tiny the metal seat was. Nor was it very comfortable. Ferris pulled the bar down and into place over their laps and the attendant stepped up to check it and then stepped back and sent them on their way, the ride slowly rotating backward. Ferris settled one arm on the left side of the ride and the other across the back, brushing against Darcy's shoulders.
"I think...I've ridden one of these once before," he observed, not at all shy about looking over the side as they lifted into the air. "Not very private," he noted. For a small festival, it was probably asking too much for the Ferris wheel to have larger, more spacious and interior compartments. But even still, there was some space.
Darcy’s gaze flickered to the side, catching Ferris’s arm brushing against her shoulder. A soft smile curled on her lips as she leaned into the casual contact, enjoying the warmth of him close. She wasn’t one to shy away from moments like this, especially not when the tension between them always hummed beneath the surface. The ferris wheel might not have been private, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t push her luck a little.
“Oh, I don’t know,” She teased, her voice taking on a playful lilt. “We could probably get away with a few shenanigansif we really wanted to.” Her voice lowering as the ride lifted them higher into the air. “Privacy’s overrated. Sometimes the fun’s in the risk.”
Her hand slipped along the bar, her fingers grazing his leg in a light, teasing touch. Darcy’s boldness flared up as the ride took them above the festival lights, the view below giving her a little extra thrill. “I mean, who knows what kind of trouble we could get into up here.” She added with a playful wink, her eyes glinting with mischief.
The lights from the festival below cast a soft glow over their faces as the Ferris wheel carried them higher. Darcy wasn’t one to shy away from a little boldness, especially not with Ferris. They had a rhythm, a comfort between them that she enjoyed pushing every now and then. And tonight? She felt just bold enough to push a little further.
“Besides,” She continued, her eyes sparkling as she looked up at him, “If you’re worried about privacy, you could always use that as an excuse to hold me a little closer.” She shifted her shoulders so they were more fully pressed against his arm, making the invitation clear.
Her grin widened, daring him to respond as she added. “Unless you’re too scared to make the first move, Ferris.” And there she was again, back to herself and her playful antics with him.

Ferris snorted. He liked his privacy. But he also enjoyed how unashamed and confident Darcy was. Still, as much as her videos had turned him on earlier, he would leave the initiating to her. And he wasn't at all surprised when she slid her hand along his thigh. Just a light touch, innocent enough, if not for what he knew she wanted. What he knew he wanted. Things were so comfortable and natural between them at this point.
His gaze turned from over the edge of the ride and toward the ground over to the playful brunette beside him and that mischievous shimmer in her eyes. "A lot of trouble, from the look of you. How did they even let you on this ride?" he questioned firmly.
A soft, intrigued sort of hum escaped him at her suggestion. And then a raised eyebrow at her goading. He was pretty sure her hand on his leg was the first move. Much more suggestive than his arm around her back. But he would concede her the point. Darcy had done a lot of the heavy lifting tonight. The least he could do was hold her. He hadn't explicitly thought to use the lack of privacy as an excuse, but at her request, he would happily do so, moving his arm from the back of the seat more directly against her shoulders, pulling her against him just so. His hand stayed on her shoulder at first, and then, as she settled her warmth against him, moved to her side. "So subtle," he said once again. But he appreciated the more obvious suggestions, because he was anything but subtle himself and wasn't great at reading it.
He was tempted to explain he wasn't afraid of anything, but that wasn't quite true and it was a bit too on the nose sometimes. The ride slowly rotated them back down through the darkness.
Darcy smiled as Ferris pulled her closer, the warmth of his arm settling around her. His touch, casual yet firm, was exactly what she’d wanted. She wasn’t the type to shy away from a little boldness, and Ferris had never made her feel like she needed to. His teasing, his banter—it was all part of the fun, and tonight she was enjoying the push and pull between them.
“Oh, I’m trouble, all right,” She said, her voice low and playful. “But you already knew that.”
Her hand remained light on his thigh, but there was no mistaking the intent behind it. It wasn’t just about the physical contact; it was the comfort, the trust they had built. She could feel the way his body relaxed against hers, the way his arm tightened just slightly around her waist as if to keep her close. That small shift spoke volumes.
Leaning in a little closer, her lips almost brushed his ear as she added, “And I think you quite like my sort of trouble.”
The slow rotation of the Ferris wheel dipped them lower again, the lights of the festival sparkling below, casting their shadows across the metal bars of the ride. Darcy glanced up at him, her grin still playful, but there was something more in her gaze now—something that lingered in the space between them, a silent invitation.
She tilted her head, letting her hair brush against his cheek as she turned to look out at the view. “Gotta love the view.” She mused, her fingers tracing a slow, teasing circle on his thigh and moving a bit higher.
