03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
Cisco had said that he was going to get ahold of the new intern and tell her where to meet Tate that afternoon. He had the post it with her number shoved into the front pocket of his jeans but he was hoping he wouldn't need it today. A crowd was just starting to gather in front of the new massage parlor, Blissful Bodywork. They had a purple ribbon ready to cut and white and purple shiny helium balloons on either side of the door, though the cold winter weather was making them droop.
Tate stood in his coat, heavy boots, and fingerless gloves so he could still use his camera without fumbling over the buttons. He chewed on his lip as he waited for the new intern, hoping his camera in his hands would give away who she was supposed to be looking for.

Callie had received enough notice and instruction from Cisco to know where she was expected to be meeting Tate, the photographer she would be shadowing and interning under. So, she opted for trying to look less distracting than her usual efforts, not wanting to be perceived as trying to flirt or seduce her way into staying. She wanted her photos to speak for themselves. Plus, colder weather definitely helped.
She was mingling with the crowd, a pair of dark wash jeans, a long sleeve fitted shirt clung to her form underneath a more comfortable looking sweater and a knit hat was on her head. She had her camera around her neck, not about to show up her first trial day as intern without having her camera.
Glancing around, she finally spotted a man who looked to be maybe in his early twenties, and clearly taking pictures with a very nice camera. Callie gave a smile as she approached him with a nod. “Hey, Tate right? I’m Callie.”
Soon enough a girl was approaching him and based on the fact she had a camera too, he was pretty certain who she was. When she greeted him he offered her a small, reserved smile and nodded. "That's right, good to meet you, Callie," he said. "Seems you did a great job of winning over Cisco. He might not be the hardest to convince necessarily but it's impressive nonetheless." He was trying to make conversation but he was always a bit awkward about it. "What kind of experience do you already have in photography?" he asked, trying to gauge where she was at and what she'd really need to learn from him in this internship.

Callie was surprised to see how young Tate was. Not because younger people couldn’t be successful, but because she thought for sure she might have seen him more around town. But then again, she tended to avoid the spotlight and his job very much called for him to be at anything exciting taking place in town. She gave a soft nod and chuckled a little. “How do you like working for him? He seems nice enough, but I’m curious to know what an employee thinks.” She’d certainly read enough about Cisco in gossip blogs, he seemed to be known for being very open about his fun since his divorce. But gossip blogs could often times be horribly wrong. So far, she knew he ran a pretty right shop at the paper and was a volunteer fire fighter too.
But honestly, she was more curious about Tate. His next question made her a bit more thoughtful. “I’ve taken pictures casually at school events that have been used in the year books, and I handle all the pictures on the websites for the orchards. As well as any of the pictures featured on the brochures.” she didn’t have a ton of experience, but she was eager to be given the opportunity to show up and show out! “How long have you worked for the paper?”
Tate shrugged when she asked more about their boss. "Yeah he's a nice guy. Not a pushover by any means but I've never had any issues or frustrations. It's pretty chill, especially if you can keep up with deadlines. Then it can get a little...hairy," he shrugged again and started to chew on his fingernail absently, revealing chipped black polish on his nails. It was nearly all gone at this point, he really should paint them again.
He nodded when she explained her experience, seemed about right given her age, probably more than others actually so that was good. "Ummm," he thought about her question. "Like 3 years. Right around the time I moved here. You a local?" he asked, looking back over to the massage parlor to see how close they were to being ready. Looked like they still had a few minutes at least.

Callie looked to Tate as he spoke and couldn’t help but smile. That definitely seemed to track from what she could recall of what she’d heard of the man, and from her brief interactions with him. Clearly the man was good at his job, or the paper wouldn’t be as successful as it was. “Thats good to know, I’ll do my best to be mindful of that… thanks Tate.” She said with an appreciative grin, finding it almost a bit endearing that the young man not only absently chewed his nails, but painted them too. She didn’t have anything against that. In fact, it reminded her that she was due to get her nails done sometime this week.
“Oh wow, that’s awesome!” She couldn’t imagine how fortunate it would be to move somewhere new and be able to not only find decent work, but work that one enjoyed. She gave a nod. “Yeah, Calliope Bartlett, like the Bartlett Orchard’s, my family is one of the town’s founding families.” She gave a shrug. It was almost refreshing to meet someone who didn’t already know all the town gossip on the family.
Tate had, of course, heard all about the Founding Families when he'd moved here but he hadn't paid enough attention to even be able to name all of them. He thought he remembered that there were four of them...or was it five? Now he didn't quite remember. "Oh nice, that's really cool. Do you like living here?" he asked. Maybe that was a stupid question. If she'd never lived anywhere else then there was nothing really to compare it to.
