General personality:
Arturo would describe himself as a casual entertainer. He is confident and social, playful and enthusiastic. Of course, in the past and even to this day, he carries an immense amount of pride. Of what and how much has changed and ebbed and flowed since his life as a human, but he's always been a bit vain in his appearance and comfortable in his combat skills. He likes to believe he has grown a lot and continues to have the capacity to learn new things and better himself. Otherwise, what is the point of living forever? He's spent enough money to learn that while money is certainly helpful, he's bought enough antique weapons to know none of it will bring back the old days and money can't buy him everything. He's lost enough friends and lovers to know he'd rather feel pain and lose than be alone forever. He's seen enough death to know that life is fragile, and most people only get one.

But if his centuries of life have taught him anything, it is that time can be fast and slow, just as something can be known and unknown. Even if he lives to see eternity, he doubts he will know everything. So while he purses knowledge, he is not driven blindly by it. He does have a soft spot for cats and collecting.

He's a supporter of everyone living their best life and is very unapologetic about his own.

General History:
Arturo was born to be a bullfighter. His father and his father's father did so before him. His mother was even involved in the entertainment as a flamenco dancer. Staring down a magnificent beast and slaying was more than an art form to his family. It was written in his DNA. He was bred to be a showman and to a hunter and to awe the world. Those dreams were rocked when his father made a fatal mistake in a show and the bull killed him and trampled a few others. Their family name besmirched, no one would hire Arturo himself. Life was an uphill battle from there.

Fortunately, he was taken under the wing of a patron of the arts, a man who at first Arturo knew very little about but that he was keen to give away money to those favored few he deemed special. And those he favored the most, he could set up for life. Unfortunately, that patron was vampire. Santiago was quite fond of art and collecting, but what he chose to collect, as any immortal vampire who must need to survive on blood, was people. The handsome young bullfighter was one of his very favorites, though he maintained a distance. Food and playthings were not to be changed lightly. But years later, accidents happen, and in a moment of weakness at the thought of existing without Arturo, Santiago chose to 'save the man's life' as it were. 

Arturo has hated his sire ever since, in a complicated war of internal emotions. He stayed with the man for a long time until he felt master enough of himself. Though he always seemed to find his way back.

The rest is history, in no particular order. He fought in multiple Spanish and later European wars from civil wars to the Napoleonic, served as a guard in Vatican City, was an outlaw turned bounty hunter in the American West, sailed the Caribbean as a dashing pirate, traveled the Silk Road, became a smuggler in feudal Japan, dabbled in Hollywood producing films, climbed Mt. Everest, was captured and tortured by the Spanish Inquisition, and lived a plethora of different lives. Some in the name of boredom, others in the name of searching for that next beast to slay.

1775: After his time spent as a pirate, he visited North America and the rambunctious new land that Britain claimed as a colony. His timing couldn't be better. Though, he felt this way less about the historical timing of the opening of the American Revolutionary War and more so of his chance meeting of Lorelle Irving. She was a precious, but determined little thing at the time. AS their affection for each other grew, so did her determination and he was hard pressed not to grant the woman her wish to save her family. But while his affection for her never waned, he eventually sought another adventure, with the promise that one day, they would find each other again.

After a while, he felt a strong urge to have a 'family' of his own, coupled with the need for a new safe haven. As a vampire, he had very rare moments where he felt 'unsafe' or unable to defend himself. But Arturo was never one to live on the go. He built a life for himself here, taking the bits and pieces he had collected from his past and founding the coven in Sweetwater with vampires he sired himself and those in larger region. While often known to be a recluse, the 'playboy million business owner' is a people person and enjoys finding what joy and pleasure he can in the humans of the small town. He encourages those in his coven to do the same but won't stand for any nonsense.
