03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
1:45 AM Darcy made the call to grab herself a coat before heading out, and she was glad for it considering the snow and frigid wind chill. The black winter coat helped fight that chill as she slipped into her older truck and got it started. The bench seat practically as cold as ice as she buckled herself in and headed toward the fire station. It wasn’t all that busy in the town at this hour, she passed maybe two vehicles and both belonged to road maintenance; a snow plow and a salt truck.
Darcy too her time getting there, not trying to rush in this weather. But glad to be getting to see Ferris. If only mildly worried her might be a little concussed. Still, she was glad to hear getting to see him. It didn’t take her long to arrive, and she left the vehicle running as she parked and slipped out of her truck to go find her friend. Almost regretting the fact that she hadn’t paused to put on a bra. It was too late to do anything about that now though, so she just pulled the coat around her tightly and headed to the door. She pulled out her phone and grinned at the response that was clearly from Ethan. She chuckled and pushed opened the door, pausing to stomp her feet off on the welcome mat so her shoes weren’t wet.
Darcy couldn’t help but smile as she almost immediately picked up on the steady thumping of Ferris’ heartbeat in the other room. She went through to the left and slowly walked into the living room where she could hear two men, one voice as familiar as her own, and one she assumed belonged to Ethan.

“Chief, what did you take?”
“Nothing. I need my phone.”
“I am not giving that back until your friend gets here.”
“Ethan, please.”
“What. Did. You. Take.”
There is silence for a heart beat. Ethan folded his arms.
“Okay, fine, you remember when that biker stabbed me a couple years ago?”
“The one on cocaine? Are you-”
“You say that like I got stabbed a different time. And he wasn't using coke.”
“Jesus Christ-”
“That's vulgar.”
“You're vulgar. You can't smoke in here, put that away. You need to go back to the urgent care?”
“No. Nope. Nope. It's just…I don't remember what they gave me.”
“Codeine? Fuck, Chief. I thought you stopped taking it because it did this?”
“It's the other one.”
“I don't care which one! Ferris. You need-”
Ferris looked over from where he lay on the couch as the door opened. “Oh, hi, Darcy.” He grinned, ecstatic.
Ethan was a large man. Bigger than Ferris and impressively tan, yet he looked defeated at the moment. He looked up as Darcy entered with relief and an intense amount of exhaustion. “Thank God."
The Fire Chief's heart was steadily thumping nearly twice as fast as his usual resting heart rate. He could feel it. But what was even more cool was that he knew that she could feel it. Fuck, that was hot. Why did he think that was hot.
“Ethan, can I-”
“No. Stay there.” Ethan glared at him and stepped over to Darcy and offered her Ferris’ phone. He put a hand on the back of his neck awkwardly, looking Darcy over. She seemed responsible enough. From how much Ferris had messaged her in the last half hour, he trusted her. And they were probably fucking but he couldn't care less right now. “Long story short, he fell off the ladder-”
“It wasn't my fault.”
“And the urgent care said he should be fine. He kept complaining of back pain so they suggested acetaminophen-”
“I don't think they understand what a seven means.”
Ethan rubbed a hand over his face. “He's self medicating and I don't know where from and tomorrow I'm going to toss his bunk. But right now, I'm tired and I really appreciate you picking him up and keeping an eye on him.”
The tone of the conversation had seemed rather serious, so she didn’t mean to interrupt. But the way Ferris’ smile just made her heart do somersaults in her chest, she couldn’t help but give a little wave and smile as she stopped in the doorway.
How his heart rate changed once he saw her, fuck why did that get to her? The way it doubled and the excitement she could not only see, but hear and smell from the chemical reactions of his body. She raised a brow slightly as Ethan approached and handed her Ferris’ phone. Dark brown eyes took in the larger man and she couldn’t help but feel a little amused.
She bit her bottom lip for a moment as she carefully considered the situation. Did she dare tell Ethan where she had seen the bottle of painkillers? Or, did she keep that to herself and try to help him in her own way?
Decisions, decisions.
Darcy tucked Ferris’ phone into her back pocket and ran a hand through her mess of curls. Deciding it wasn’t her place to disclose that information to Ethan. Not because she didn’t think he deserved to know and be able to help… but because when someone had substance abuse issues, things needed to be handled delicately. Even more so when mental health reasons came into play.
“I’ll keep an eye on him, you won’t have to worry about him with me around… I promise.” She admitted with a nod, eyes moving to take in Ferris where he was at on the couch. His interjections while entertaining, definitely betrayed he was just a little more chatty than his usual self. She gave a gentle pat to Ethan’s shoulder as she stepped past the man toward Ferris.
“Hey, let’s get you out of here so they can get some rest, what do you say?” She ran a hand through his hair, before raising a brow and offering him her hand to help get him up and moving.

Ethan offered another relieved sigh and looked back at Ferris and shook his head. “Thanks,” he said, clearly worried about his boss though it was impossible to separate any emotion from the frustration of his desire to rest. Still, he stayed in the room on the off chance he needed to offer support. Which meant he saw Darcy run her fingers through Ferris’ hair. Yeah, they definitely had a thing. Or used to. Good for Ferris.
“Ethan doesn't need to babysit,” Ferris pointed out, which earned a dubious noise from his coworker.
“Wouldn't be so bad if you would shut up.”
“You took my phone.”
“And I don't regret it.”
Ferris rolled his eyes. He might not always admit it, but the two of them more than anyone had a brotherly relationship. He looked up at Darcy again, that same rush of feelings making it hard to think straight. Or maybe that was the drugs. “That sounds splendid,” he agreed, accepting her hand. Ferris managed to pull himself to his feet, only a little unsteady. Which was probably how he had managed to go an hour or two without anyone noticing. He could stand, but if they were going to walk anywhere, he leaned on her slightly for balance. “You're driving, right? Cause I really shouldn't. You know, Ethan's a terrible driver.”
She couldn’t help but chuckle at the exchange between the two. It was clear they had a close bond. She shook her head a little with a soft smile. “No, Ethan deserves to get some rest.”
She helped him to his feet and couldn’t help but find the whole situation unfolding, vastly entertaining. Ferris being so loopy was going to be hilarious, but she’d try not to poke too much fun at him. Especially considering how relieved she was to just see him after the swift end to their earlier phone call, and his texting her about his falling off the ladder. She just wanted to help make sure he was alright, especially after taking the painkillers. She knew how just one had affected her, and he’d admitted to taking two!
As Ferris leaned on her Darcy fought off the rosy color seeping into her cheeks, glad it was cold out and rosy cheeks were common in the cold weather. She chuckled again, looping her arm around his back as she began to guide him to the front. “Then, I guess it’s best if I drive. My truck’s running out front, where’s your jacket?”

He had thought about taking just one, but he'd fallen four or five feet to freezing ground on his back, shoulders and the back of his head. His helmet and protective gear had saved him from any worse effects, but from the difficulty and pain in trying to move, he'd taken two. Three or four and he wouldn't be conscious and he wasn't feeling that much difficulty with the world at the moment. Her arm around his back would have felt him reeling if not for the medication so he was quite pleased with himself.
Ferris was more than warm in a t-shirt and his dark blue work pants. Some, probably Ethan, had already helped him put his boots on, though they weren't done up very tight so maybe Ferris had taken a crack at that earlier. He didn't remember. At Darcy's question, he pointed to the line of coats and jackets and bags and other miscellaneous personal effects hanging off the well by the door she had entered. Which probably wasn't all that helpful except he knew he didn't need to tell Darcy which was his. Not because she knew what his wardrobe looked like entirely, but because it very definitely smelled like him. And he knew exactly what she thought of what he smelled like. "Guess," he demanded playfully.
Darcy gave a final wave to Ethan as she followed the direction Ferris pointed back toward the entrance. Sure enough, there was an assortment of coats and such all hanging on hooks. She rolled her eyes at his playful demand, but of course she’d oblige. Darcy took a sharp inhale through her nose, filtering through the unfamiliar scents until she found his. The unmistakable smell of maple, rain and smoke. Undeniably one of her favorite scents, she picked the coat off the hook and gently released him to hold up the coat.
“Here you go.” She offered with a smile as she held up up and open for him to slip it on more easily. Barring any complications with his jacket, she’d take his arm over her shoulders and get him headed out the door and to her truck, careful not to step in any slick spots. She’d open the passenger side door and see if he needed help getting in.

Ethan waved back and turned to go back to the dorm to try and get some rest.
Ferris grinned as she rolled her eyes, watching as she sorted through scents for his. Not that there was much to watch, which was a bit of a disappointment, but there was still something fun about studying her sharp, attractive features and catching that light in her eyes as she figured out which was his. This time it was a worn leather jacket with a soft lining. Not quite built for full winter weather, but he was a bit attached.
He wasn't prepared for her to let go of him, staggering slightly as he found his balance. "I'm good," he assured slowly, appreciating the help from her holding it open. He'd probably never managed to put it on himself. As Darcy guided him quite willingly outside and into the cold 2am air, he slid a hand into one of the pockets and produced his lighter. He actually had no desire to smoke. Or at least, not any pressing need but he sort of just...wanted to. To feel normal. Or pretend to be normal. Except he wasn't normal, and he knew it. But before he could even shake a cigarette out of the pack, she presented him with the door to her truck.
He stared up at the seat a moment, putting away his smoking supplies and gingerly putting a hand on the door for balance. A grin slowly etched across his face. "You know what happened last times you drove me somewhere?" Between the fun in the cab and the drive to the fire tower. As if that wasn't just last week or she'd already forgotten. Clearly he had something on his mind. "There's an exterior camera over there," he said, turning a bit and pointing up at the corner of the building. "Which is why I don't park on this side of the lot."
The cold air felt great against her face as they stood outside her truck, her brow lifting curiously as he grinned at her and spoke. The red blush creeping into her cheeks at the reminder and she couldn’t fight off the playful smile that pulled to her lips, biting her bottom lip for a moment. “Oh, I definitely remember, clearly I enjoy whisking you away for fun.” She teased, giving a playful pat to his cheek before looking where he pointed.
Darcy raised a brow as she stepped closer to him. “Whatever do you have in mind… should I be aiming to find us some privacy?” She teased with a playful wiggle of her dark eyebrows, running a hand up his chest. “Are you thinking dirty thoughts, Daddy?” Okay, so maybe that was a bit much, considering they were in a parking lot that had surveillance, but she couldn’t help it. He brought out a very specific and playful side to her that typically people didn’t get to see, but was becoming rather ‘normal’ around Ferris.

Ferris smirked as she expressed that she did remember. Of course, she remembered, but it was fun to hear Darcy say it. The man possessed no amount of subtly at the moment, for himself or for interpretation of anything else. She made it sound so fucking magical and to be honest, it had been. Especially that night in the fire watch tower. That had been entirely unexpected. Now...now it was mostly expected.
"There's a saying about that, yeah? Once is an anomaly, two's a coincidence, and three's a trend?" There wasn't a saying like that. Maybe a quote somewhere, but he was mostly pulling things out of his ass. It seemed to be working pretty well. Feeling her move closer behind him made him shiver, but obviously not with cold. The hand around his chest thoroughly distracted him from making any attempt to climb into the car. He turned around with a soft demanding hum as she made some very naughty promises, still using the truck door for support. "You have to ask? I'd call you a fox, but we both know that's not true." Thankfully, the cameras didn't have any microphones. His other hand found her hip, sliding down and around to slip into her back pocket and give a playful squeeze.
"You don't need to find somewhere, I told you, I parked out of camera range."
“Oh? Well, I guess if I’m becoming predictable I should play things cool and closer to my chest.” She gave a slight shrug, taking her hand back and watching him curiously as he spoke and reached to give her ass a playful squeeze. She couldn’t help but smile at the action, and his words. Glad for the privacy that being out at two in the morning offered.
“Oh, well I don’t know if we should… are we trying to start a trend?” Darcy poked at his side with a raised brow. While she was absolutely down for the fun, she wasn’t sure how she felt about being that predictable or expected. It wasn’t easy, but she could dial it back. Be a condensed version of herself if necessary.
Great, now she was all in her head and feeling a bit odd. And that… that wasn’t her at all. She rolled her eyes, reaching in the vehicle past him to cut to engine and pocketed the keys. “Fuck it; I’ll be predictable. I’m not going to try and act like I don’t wanna jump your bones every time I see you.” She ran a hand through her wild curls and offered him her hand. She also was silently hoping he might not remember quite everything she was saying. “So where are you parked?”

If privacy was what one called being recorded on decent quality surveillance camera, then yeah, 2am outside the back of the fire station on Sweetwater main street was privacy. Ferris wouldn't call it that, but he found the idea more amusing that anything else, despite going out of his way to keep even something as minor as flipping off a coworker off of said cameras. But he was the one suggesting it.
"It's a little late to worry about that now," he pointed out, watching her seem to think something over. In the meantime, his let go of the truck to slide his other hand in her other back pocket. Which meant leaning over him pushed in into the side of her truck. He winced, pulling his hands away from her to find support on the side of her truck and keep from sinking to the ground. Thankfully, however, the drugs seemed to be doing their part with forcing him to pretend he wasn't in pain. Though he was aware enough to reach up and rub the back of his head carefully. Ferris snorted. "You say the weirdest, sexiest shit to me," he informed her with a small laugh.
He blinked, taking her hand on instinct but not moving. "Darcy. I already said I shouldn't drive," he said, confused. Okay, so maybe he wasn't paying that much attention.
Darcy felt a pang of guilt over him seeming to feel a bit of pain after she leaned into the car for her keys. She bit her bottom lip as she watched him run his back, but instead of talking about his back or being in pain, he was talking about her saying weird and sexy shit. “What can I say; it’s a gift.” She pretended to shrug it off and grabbed his hands, moving him enough from the truck to close the door and put his arm over her shoulders again as she started walking with him.
She shook her head a little with a chuckle, pausing to face him, one hand helping hold him up, the other rubbing his cheek as she spoke. “You’re not going to drive. We’re going to your truck so I can ride you, I’m making good on my promise of car sex.” Darcy said with a playful wink, pulling him down just slightly for a quick kiss before she continued walking with him toward the direction of where his scent lingered.

Ferris was easy enough to move, still not quite steady on his feet. "You're a gift," he corrected with a grin as she led them more or less toward his truck. "Speaking of...I have no fucking idea what to get you."
"Oh," was all he said at first until she winked at him. "Ohhhh." Sex. As in ride him. Right. He wasn't sure that was such a good idea in the parking lot. Not to mention that he wasn't really himself, but it never seemed to occur to Ferris if he was actually capable of consent or not. It occurred to him that even if he was physically capable at the moment, he should probably say no. "Long as I can lay down or something." Which was what her riding him already implied. This whole 'balance' thing and 'attention' weren't quite his forte at the moment.
"The Ford Superduty," he said, gesturing at it again so she could ferry both of them. He fumbled for his keys, producing first his wallet, then the American Spirits, then his lighter, before finally finding his keys in his coat pocket. He tapped the unlock a couple times and the lights flashed.
The blush in her cheeks deepening at his correction of her statement, and she couldn’t help but smile. “Oh, you don’t have to worry about that. I’m a sucker for giving gifts, but I’m not expecting anything in return. Besides, I just enjoy spending time with you.” She admitted a bit awkwardly as she ran a hand through her curls and cleared her throat as they walked.
Watching his face as he seemed to finally grasp what she was saying was rather adorable and very entertaining. And while part of her definitely felt she should pause and maybe just take him to her place, the part of her that was itching for a little risqué sex was winning out. “Whatever you’re most comfortable with… did you happen to get any condoms for your truck?” She asked with a raised brow, leading him to the Ford Superduty. Watching him as he unpacked his pocket for the keys, finally finding them and unlocking it. They reached the vehicle and Darcy raised a brow. “Front or backseat?”
