03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
There was a big hole left in the world after her father’s passing. He had been more than just her dad, more than a great mechanic, but also a giving community member. Every year they cleared all the cars from the garage, shuffled around equipment and put up enough Christmas lights to be seen from space. The lights were the same but they didn’t seem quite as bright to her now. They also certainly didn’t go up as fast without him. It was all hands on deck for the employees of Fix it Auto stringing lights and placing tinsel on railings. She knew that no matter how much of a pain it was, dad would have wanted them to keep the tradition. Seung plugged in the last set of string lights and then came down from the ladder (newly purchased after Mikey's tumble this year). Her eyes swept over the mostly empty garage like an army general inspecting the troops. Chairs for guests to sit check, space heaters on check, alcohol in the ice cooler and punch bowl check and most importantly the start of the food reserves. Their Mom was prepping the large folding table with a hodgepodge of Korean and American holiday foods. Seung had gone out of her way to make sure everyone knew the party would be potluck since with werewolves on the invite list the more food the better. There was double fried chicken, Japchae noodles, a smattering of side dishes and a rice cooker on warm. There was even a ‘Christmas cake’ with snow like whipped frosting and meticulously arranged strawberries. Hands on her hips she nodded to herself and checked the time. People should be arriving anytime now since it was just now growing dark. It was crazy how early it got dark in the winter. Her eyes darted to Mikey who was trying his best to finish putting up ornaments on the tree. She had of course extended an invite to the other members of her pack…and then to their new employee and by extension his pack. Seung hoped the ‘holiday spirit’ would keep the peace. Especially since there were some non-werewolf members of the community that she knew would show up out of respect and tradition.
A warm atmosphere filled the garage and spilled into the parking lot with Christmas music playing softly over the intercom.
[ Thread is open to any who might have a reason to have been invited by Seung, Mikey or even a friend of a friend/ or anyone that just saw the lights and wants to crash. For long term Sweetwater residents it is possible to know about the party from having been invited in the past. It’s a potluck so if you were invited you should probably bring some food! Also look out for the mistletoe Because it’s a busy season we should probably go with free for all for posting]
Rhett had been at the shop all day, putting aside paperwork for the day in exchange for helping get ready for the party. He had never been around when Mr. Royce had been the one to host the parties but he liked that Seung and Mikey had decided to continue the tradition. It seemed like something he would do. Family was important and so were the traditions you held with them.
Rhett had been sure to tell Darcy Vance about the party as well. Casey was already on the invite list of course and so it was likely that other members from his pack would show up too. He was sure there would be plenty from the Shadowridge pack, given that Seung was part of that pack. It could certainly be interesting to have both packs together given the bad blood between them, but after getting to know Seung, Rhett didn't have an automatic distaste for the members of the pack. Moreso the alpha who was the one most adamant about getting rid of the Bloodrose pack.
Rhett did a lot of the heavy lifting that day, helping to move the largest and heaviest objects to make room for their guests. Once Mrs. Royce started to bring out the food, Rhett placed a couple of cans of cranberry sauce on the table too. He had forgotten a can opener and hoped they would have one on hand. He loved the stuff, in spite of how much other people seemed to dislike it, and he was shit at cooking food. He couldn't wait to dig into Mrs. Royce's Korean foods.

West borrowed the Royce's kitchen to do something he had only done once or twice in his life: bake. He'd made pot cookies before, which had been a stupid idea because he didn't actually like cookies. Of course, they were better when they got you high, but if that was all they had going for them, then what was the point of all that effort? Why waste the chocolate chips and the milk on a piece of sugary cardboard? No, brownies were much better. Especially when he had help.
West had intended to arrive early to help set up and use the oven, but Mrs. Royce overheard and he was almost immediately dragged off to the fiery hells of the Royce's kitchen, full of Korean spices he'd never heard of, a questionable amount of casseroles(what even where those anyway?), a small roasting turkey, and a vast array of knives. West had never feared for his life before, but the look Mrs. Royce gave him suggested he might want to start. He brushed it off and casually offered to help, like he knew what he was doing, and somehow managed to be mildly productive in the kitchen while also having Mikey and Seung's help to distract their mother from getting too closely involved with his desert of choice. She complimented him on his determination to do it himself like he was a fifth grader working on a science project, but he would take it.
He sat on the couch in the back of the garage, trying out a brownie as the decorating was finished. "Hey, Mikey?" he called casually to the man, looking around the shop. He made stern eye contact with his friend and lifted the half-eaten brownie in the air. "We're gonna need to cut these in half," he said firmly.
With some input from her best friend, Darcy had decided to make two different sides for the potluck Christmas party she had promised Rhett she would show up for. So, after a trip to the store for supplies, she spent the afternoon making loaded baked potato skins and bourbon candied bacon. As someone who didn’t boast of cooking often, Darcy definitely deferred to a recipe online for both sides dishes.
This was the most use her kitchen had been used this week, namely because she had spent a good bit of time at work. After getting the potatoes baked and gutted, she put the bacon in. The delicious smells of potatoes and bacon were enough to make her stomach growl. She took a brief recess between mixing the potatoes filling all back up and mixing the honey bourbon sauce for the bacon, opting to take a quick shower and send a few texts. She knew Ferris was working, so she couldn’t invite him, but she smiled at another name in her contacts and typed up a message to Bex Brekker . Who knew, she might have already been invited, what with her working at Harland’s Alehouse. But on the slight chance that she was off work and free, it would be nice to have another familiar face around.
Christmas party @ the auto shop tonight, please be there so I know more than maybe three people? 🫣
It’s a potluck and I’m bringing food
She tapped ‘send’ and shook her head, heading for her shower.
After dropping off a plate of goodies at the fire station for Ferris and his crew, Darcy rolled on up to the event, parking a little ways up the road so she wouldn’t get parked in, it was her way to ensure she could leave whenever she was ready. Light wash jeans hugged her form perfectly, paired with an open backed beige knit sweater and her favorite pair of brown ankle boots. The open back left her with limited options on a bra, so she just went without. Sure it was cold, but it didn’t bother her. So she grabbed the decent size container of loaded baked potato skins, set the platter of bourbon candied bacon on top of it, and grabbed a gift bag that contained a bottle of Crown Royal Maple Whisky.
The air was full of so many different scents, some familiar and some new. But Darcy gave a smile as she enjoyed the bright lights and the festive decor, but felt a sense of relief at the sight of Rhett standing near the tables of food. Darcy didn’t go to parties often, but had told her Beta she would be there. So she came bearing gifts of starch and candied meat, as well as the bottle of alcohol for the hostess. “Hey you.” She nudged his arm with her shoulder as she set down the sides on the food table, only feeling slightly out of place. “Should I give this to Seung, or her mother?” She asked him with a raised brow.
