03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?

"To just watch? Fuck that, you'd pay money to play with me, not throw me to the wolves," he said, finding the idiom to be more than appropriately fitting. Leaving him with her pack like that. Even if he happened to know some of them. "But I imagine that's... You'd have to ask your friends." Which was true. But he wasn't just worried about hanging out with her pack, he worried that they might not want to reveal themselves to him. Darcy couldn't make that decision for them. Ferris might even know some of them, but as humans. "And anyway, what did your friends think about what happened on our hike?" She'd mentioned her "elders" a few times that day.
He nodded in agreement. Not that he really cared much for kids sometimes either. But it was different when it came to his job or a kid he knew. He was responsible, in a way, for them. Fires, medical emergencies, search and rescues, it was always tough trying to do everything to save someone, but kids were worse. Ferris finished his plate, savoring the last bite of eggs and potatoes. Much better than frozen pizza. "Always more reports," he agreed. Though the station had a lot of physical chores that broke up the strain of writing.
The suggestion of going somewhere else was fine enough. But an open mic night made him hesitate. "Uh, what about dessert?" he said instead.
Her laughter was near immediate at his response and she couldn’t help but shrug her shoulders. He wasn’t wrong, she’d have to play too. That is, if she could convince certain members of the pack that he wasn’t a threat. “Give it a little time, most of them aren’t shy about being known by someone who isn’t looking to ‘out’ them.” One pack member in particular was very displeased with her ‘carelessness’, and he wasn’t at all too shy to make that known. She sighed a little, leaning back into the booth seat, moving to cross her legs, her foot not so accidentally grazing Ferris’ leg as she did.
“We’ve got some mixed feelings. Most agree from the account given I didn’t really have many options, but there are still a few that are angry at me for being careless enough to end up in the situation to begin with.” She was honest, having no reason to keep the information from him. It’s not like people in her pack didn’t have human friends, family members or lovers who weren’t aware of the secret. In fact, there were a lot of humans that just enjoyed being a part of their wild lifestyle. Apparently werewolves knew how to party. But typically there was a lot more planning and thought that went into sharing with someone. And that was their biggest complaint… is that their Alpha got reckless and put them at risk of exposure. Or at least herself at risk of exposure. And they weren’t wrong, she made a mistake when it came to the bear, she’d admit that. But she stood by what she did.
A playful grin crossed her lips at the mention of dessert, but Darcy just bit her lip for a moment. Deciding to give a much less spicy thought provoking response. “I know I might look like I turn down desserts, but I will absolutely go to town on some sweets… I just didn’t know if you’d need time after that big breakfast.” She gave a playful wink.

Ferris very much doubted that 'shy' was a word most werewolves would use to describe themselves. Reclusive, guarded, forced to live in secret so the humans at large didn't hunt them down. Those all seemed more appropriate on the whole. But he got the message. "That's...less reassuring," he noted of her explanation of those feelings. He understood why they were upset. Would he have trusted himself with that information? He wasn't sure. Certainly, he would not have wanted it to be some spur of the moment thing. But it seemed like Darcy had done so accidentally. Even if she more purposefully admitted to it immediately rather than try to cover it up. Hell, she could have even just knocked him out and left him at his truck or something. But instead, she had followed him home and rather directly made it clear his note of her being 'lonely' in the ranger station wasn't far off the mark.
Feeling her foot against his wasn't as awkward as he worried it would be. But it did finally make him recall a few choice moments from their night together, he reined himself in. "Glad they aren't angry with me," he said, though the statement was clearly designed for her to correct him if that wrong. They likely weren't pleased, it wasn't like anyone had vetted him with this information, let alone everything she explained the other night. Ferris would rather know if he pissed someone off than to walk into that sort of emotion blind.
The firefighter did not begin to even make a connection of any naught interpretations of his words. He'd over filled his quota. He grinned. "That you do," he agreed, keeping the compliment vague and indirect. Darcy did look fine, he could more than attest to that. "I have plenty of time tomorrow to regret my life choices and work it off," he assured her, stretching out in the booth, his leg brushing against one of hers this time. He slowly shifted it away after a moment.
He caught the waitress as she walked by, ordering a cheesecake and a chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. He didn't need the menu for the dessert list either.
“Sorry, I know that’s not very encouraging, but I’m working on it.” She offered with a slight sigh. It wasn’t even the elders that were most upset, it was her Beta. He was so frustrated with her, he still hadn’t made the time to chew her out, but she knew it was coming. It wasn’t a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’. Darcy knew how seriously they vetted and checked into people before trusting them with this secret. It wasn’t so much just that she revealed herself to be a werewolf, but now they felt they couldn’t adequately protect their Alpha. Though she hadn’t revealed that bit of information.
Still, she offered a softer smile at statement and nodded. “No, so far as I can tell no one is directly upset with you. Most of the annoyance or anger is for me.” Darcy admitted, toying with the ends of some of her curls as she did. She grinned at his response and suddenly became very aware of his leg brushing against hers when he stretched. Heat passing through her chest as caught herself wishing she could feel his skin against hers again. A slight blush gracing her honey colored skin as she looked back to the waitress when she stepped over. She ordered some peach cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

"Lucky me, eh?" He could tell Darcy wasn't in a comfortable spot after that accident. But at least she was in one piece. Her injuries had healed well, just a bit of scaring. The cut on his arm was more or less healed. He'd pulled the stitches out at least. Still not sure if it would scar or not, but he was hoping it wouldn't leave too much of a mark.
From her blush, Ferris got the feeling him touching her was a distraction. Maybe it was a little evil of him to have done it, but he liked seeing her like that.
Their deserts didn't take long, just the time to plate and scoop some ice cream. He'd ordered two, not just for himself, but in case Darcy wanted more than just the cobbler. Not that he wouldn't eat both of them. He'd have to push a little harder tomorrow during his work out to offset those calories. Not the first time. He thanked the waitress again when the desserts arrived, starting with the cheesecake. "Honestly, never been much for pie," he admitted, using his fork to point at her cobbler. "How's that rank for you with their other desserts?"
“I can handle being the problem child, it’s not the first time I’ve had people annoyed with me.” Granted it was the first time she’d ever revealed herself to a human, but she wasn’t shy at all to being the ‘problem wolf’ in the pack. Not necessarily in this pack, but just in general. She’d been a rather rebellious pup in her younger years. Which wasn’t all that long ago. It felt like ages ago at times, how she missed the freedom of simply being a regular member in the pack. But she wouldn’t trade her current position for anything.
“I’d say a solid 7.5. Not near as the banana pudding, but a solid dessert none the less.” Darcy said with a smile, taking a bite of both the cobbler and ice cream. Thankful for her wolf enhanced metabolism, Darcy was a fan of desserts. especially the ‘home cooked’ style. “Pie is only acceptable at the holiday dinners, in my humble opinion.” She took another bite and looked around the diner. It wasn’t very lively for a little after 9pm, which was to be expected. Maybe four other people scattered throughout, not counting the staff.
“What’s you favorite item from the dessert menu?” She raised a brow, curious to know.

Ferris hummed softly. "Only seven point five, eh? And you ordered that instead of the banana pudding?" Having successfully derailed the conversation away from the open mic night idea, he felt comfortable once again to relax in the booth. His jaw and side still hurt and he was doing his best to sit high enough on his ass that nothing else hurt either.
"Been a long time since I did a holiday dinner." Of course, his holiday celebrations varied a little from what was celebrated here. But he wasn't exactly welcomed home for his family's gatherings. He usually spent his working. Being a martyr again.
He'd just stuffed a massive mouthful of thick, moist chocolate cake in his mouth. He slid the fork out and just looked at her with an expression that read 'what do you think' with a slightly raised eyebrow and amused glint in his eyes. He added a mouthful of ice cream along with it. Finally, he swallowed the mouthful. "Call me basic," he said with a shrug. And then something occurred to him. "Can you... Do you like chocolate?" He was going to ask if she could eat it, but that seemed a dumb way to phrase it, even with almost no one around.
“I happen to know from a good source that they’re out of banana pudding until tomorrow.” She admitted with a playful wink, another bite of her peach cobbler down. She didn’t have many people she’d consider herself close with, but the girl who made their banana pudding was always sure to let Darcy know when she was making a fresh batch. Hell, Darcy had even bought a batch to take home before. Remnants of one might even be in her fridge right now, though she’d keep that to herself.
“Holidays with my chosen family are way more exciting and fun than any holiday with my born family.” She smiled a softer smile this time, thinking of how different members of the pack liked to get together and make a big dinner at least once a month, if she wasn’t working she was always there helping wherever she could. Most of the time being assigned the task of entertaining the younger kids, since she wasn’t all that impressive in the kitchen. “Do you guys ever have holiday meals at the fire station? I know sometimes some family’s bring plates to the emergency responders working through the holidays.” She knew it wasn’t the same as actually participating in a big holiday meal, but it was something.
She watched him eat the bite of chocolate cake and then raised a brow a little at his question, before she chuckled and nodded. “If you ever want to go into a coma after overdosing on chocolate; you should try the ‘death by chocolate cake’ from the local bakery… it’s positively sinful.” Darcy said with a slow exhale, mentioning the local bakery bringing her to think of the shared cinnamon roll. If it wasn’t for the very vivid photographic memory recall of the evening, Darcy might have believed she simply dreamt up the evening. A very erotic and fun evening. Yeah, definitely not a dream. She stretched a leg slightly forward, wondering if he’d shy away from her touch or not.

He smirked as she suggested she had an inside man or woman. Or maybe she could just smell it? That was a weird thought but considering everything else she had shown she could do, he wouldn't put it past her.
Ferris nodded as she mentioned chosen family. Not that he had much of that besides his work family, but he thought that counted. Calvin was the goofy younger brother. Ethan was the older brother who tried a little too hard to be everyone's friend, but he was a 'fixer' sort, it was his nature. Cisco was the other annoying younger brother who couldn't keep his pants on. "Uh, yeah. Usually, it's just me and the two other full timers. And none of us really cook so always appreciate when families bring something. Last year I just made a shit ton of pancakes for Christmas. Ethan ate so much he threw up," he added with a laugh. Ferris had sat in the bathroom with him giving him crap for it.
His jaw set a little at the use of the words 'coma' and 'overdose.' They hit a little hard, even in a light-hearted conversation about chocolate cake. Ferris forced a smile though. "If it's anything like the cinnamon rolls, I'm done for," he said, this time with a hint of suggestion that he meant more than just the cinnamon roll. He did appreciate how she played it up though. But to avoid necessitating any further discussion on the topic, he took another bite of cake, finishing it up along with the ice cream.
Feeling her leg brush against him again this time, he understood was no accident. He didn't move his leg this time, because he was comfortable and here first and she could touch him, that was fine. He turned his attention to the cheesecake, drizzles with a bit of cherry or strawberry syrup. Ferris slid the plat in between them in a silent offer for Darcy to try some if she wanted.
Darcy smiled as he shared about the Christmas morning pancakes. Shaking her head, curls bouncing, as she chuckled. “Ah, sounds like you guys know how to enjoy yourselves.” She could imagine working in public safety like they did, and the hours they pulled, it definitely bonded them into sort of a little family.
The setting of his jaw wasn’t lost on her, just Darcy wasn’t quite sure what the issue might have been. She merely noted it and figured she’d have to find a way to bring it up some other time. Maybe not in such a public setting. Instead, she smiled again and finished her peach cobbler. She also took a sip from her tea before speaking again.
“Oh, I don’t know if anything can top those cinnamon rolls.” Darcy said with a soft nod, a devilish idea coming to mind as she mulled over whether or not she’d do it. When he didn’t shy away from the touch of her leg against his, she began to get a not so innocent train of thought.
She moved forward slightly to put a bite of cheesecake on her fork, while slipping her foot out of her ankle boot and not so subtly rubbing up his calf. And if he didn’t move or stop her, she’d gently start her way up his thigh.

"We try. Some of us too much," he agreed. But they had to take some moments to enjoy. A lot of their work would be crushing otherwise. Sometimes it still was. But it was nice to have that close bond with someone, to know they would have your back and you would have theirs.
Ferris hummed slightly. "Probably not. But don't let the hostess hear you say that," he added with a grin, taking another bite of cheesecake. So maybe that was just a onetime thing then? He couldn't tell if Darcy was trying to say something or not. First bringing up the bakery and then the cinnamon roll as a euphemism, then skirting around the idea. Was that a hint?
He was glad she at least took a bite because he really shouldn't have ordered two deserts. But he couldn't help himself. What he didn't expect was her to brush against him again. Ferris froze a moment, looking up at Darcy with a sort of questioning look and then realizing he was acting like a complete idiot. He looked away and swallow his bite of cheesecake, quickly going for another as her foot slid higher up the inside of his thigh. He was quickly running out of dessert to stuff his mouth with. If the conversation line had been confusing, this certainly was not. This wasn't just Darcy asking after more dessert, this was a blatant demand for his attentions. He'd never had a woman play serious footsie with him before, and while it was hot, it also made him skittish. "This, uh...cheesecake is really tender, eh?" he suggested, trying to be subtle in asking her to be gentle and hating exactly how stupid it came out with his accent.
Her brow peaked at his words, intrigued by what he might mean. She personally didn’t know the other fire fighters, though she’d met one of the volunteers a few times for clarification on information being printed by the Tribune, aside from that the most she interacted with his team was when they responded to forest fires or in aiding with missing campers and such. “I’m sure you keep things from getting too crazy, they respect you.”
She chuckled a little, she’d never want to insult the wonderful staff at Rosie’s. It was the best place in town to get breakfast, or a decent steak. Last thing she needed was to end up on someone’s bad side and her food start tasting subpar. But her attention was on Ferris. The way he looked up at her, she met his gaze with a playful wink, taking her time cleaning her fork from the bite of cheesecake. She rested further back against the booth and very gently let her foot graze up his inner thigh.
“Mmm-hmmm.” She took another bite of the cheesecake, this time wiping a little bit of the fruit flavored syrup off the plate with her finger, and slowly sucking it off her finger in a very obviously suggestive way. She moved her foot to gently rub his other thigh. She liked the way her action made his heartbeat quicken.

He nodded. He sure tried to keep things under control with being too overbearing. He was their boss and coworker. He wasn't their parents or quite their friend either, but somewhere in the middle. It could be awkward at times, but his goal was to make sure everyone and everything was in good physical condition, and sometimes mental condition, to do their job. Even the parts of their job that was just being ready at the station.
The image of her licking her fork cleaned was burned in his mind alongside the one of her licking something else. It wasn't just his heartbeat that started slightly rising. She didn't have to touch anything specific, just to imply it and he could feel the mood around them shifting. He managed another bite of the cheesecake but caught himself staring again, following her finger from the plate to her lips. Now she really was teasing him. Tempting him into making a move, either to stop her or to tease her back. He wasn't sure he could manage the later without interrupting her fun though.
They finished the dessert and Ferris nearly sighed in relief. "Where's that open mic night at?" he finally stumbled into saying. Not because he was interested. But because maybe a change of scene like she had suggested would be good for both of them.
Ferris could be difficult to read at times, which only added to his appeal. He kept her own her toes, it was way more interesting than what she was typically used to. Even now, she could tell he was enjoying her touching him, and he didn’t make her stop, but he was suggesting going to the open mic night? She eyed him curiously, not quite moving her foot away just yet. Though looking up toward the waitress and giving a sweet smile. “Can we get the check please?” She asked with a nod, then looking back to Ferris. She slowly moved her foot back down his thigh and calf, then slipped her boot back on and straightened up in the seat, maintaining a look of amusement.
“The biker dive bar down the road, toward the outskirts of town. Not as nice as Harland’s, but they’re trying to draw people in with the live music options.” Plus some of her pack preferred to drink there over supporting an establishment owned by a Shadowridge pack member. Darcy didn’t share that issue. Harland’s was her favorite of the bars in town. But for mic night, taking place this evening would be at the dive bar. “Your truck or mine? She asked, watching him with a curious gaze. She couldn’t tell if he was stopping her advances, or just relocating.

"Separate, please," Ferris was quick to add as she released him from the spell of her touch. Not that he minded paying, but this wasn't a date and he didn't want to set a precedent for him paying any time they went out, because he didn't have the money for that. He certainly didn't want her paying for his meal. That would be weird.
He looked back to Darcy. "Never been," he admitted, taking a moment to fish in his pocket for his wallet. "I'm a creature of habit," he added. The hostess returned with their checks but he stayed seated for just a moment longer, pretending to search through his slender wallet for his credit card, but he only had ten cards in it.
Darcy asked about who truck they would take and he decided at that moment to pull his card out and get up from the table, slightly too fast, feeling the pull in his side as he stood. Ferris grimaced, leaning heavily on the table to stretch his left side. He looked back over at her and that curious look of hers. "I need a cigarette first. And I don't really know where we're going," he started off vaguely, moving to the hostess stand so he could pay before waiting for her and stepping outside. He couldn't figure out what she wanted with him.
