Ever sense Waylon’s abrupt departure for a personal leave, Gemma had been assigned as ‘interim Sheriff’. And her work days got a lot busier and intense. She mostly felt like she was simply playing catch-up on paperwork. Not that Waylon was disorganized, but more so that she was trying to familiarize herself with everything currently going on. Which was a lot. Thankfully, outside of her work and Pack, Gemma didn’t have much of a life or hobbies; so bringing home the work and pouring into all the information was the only thing that made sense right now.
She was currently pacing her ‘new’ office while on the phone with the tribune giving her statement on whatever story was being plastered on the front page of the next issue. She had a killer migraine and just wanted to be done fielding phone calls. She inhaled slowly, and then paused in her pacing, glancing up to her door as it opened and the receptionist. She didn’t need to woman to tell her Alec was there. Even if she hadn’t known him from his work on the town council, she knew him as Pack Alpha to Shadowridge. Her pack.
“Thanks Heidi, I’ll be right out…- what? No, I was talking to someone else… no, no comment. Look, that’s all I know at this time… it’s an active investigation, I’m not at liberty to discuss details with reporters.” With that she pressed the receiver to the base and shook her head, blonde hair pulled back into ponytail swaying as she did. Gemma took a calming breath as she smoothed her shirt, a vintage rock band t-shirt loosely tucked into her dark wash jeans and only ‘dressed up’ by her blue leather jacket. Badge on her hip opposite her gun. A pair of black boots clicking slightly as she made her way out of her office and offering smile to Alec.
“Councilman Hargrove, to what do I owe the pleasure?”
