03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
Axel and his gang were chilling in their apartment. They were also being loud.
"Guys, maybe you should turn that down." Axel said lazily from where he lounged, his cigarette dangling out of the corner of his mouth. He had a book in his hands, though he was looking past it right now to the gang members who were playing guitar hero. The volume was turned up the loudest it could go. It was 10pm.
"Nah, man." He was told.
"If the music's too loud you're too old." Said the other.
Axel sighed and shook his head. He wasn't the oldest, nor was he the leader, but he often times felt like both.
They were going to get a noise complaint. He knew it.
Kate had just finished closing up the diner and headed home to her apartment. It had been a good day and she was in a good mood, though certainly tired. However, as she neared her apartment she started to hear some loud music and people talking over the noise as well. She frowned, the closer she got the louder it got. Did they have it as loud as it could go? She could feel the ground vibrating under her feet.
She heard a baby crying across the hall and sighed. She didn't want to have to do this, but someone did. And maybe if she asked them nicely then she wouldn't have to call Brodie.
She approached the door, her hair pulled up in a pony tail and wearing her diner uniform, probably smelling like oil and french fries, and knocked.
One of the other members got up to answer the door. He opened it a crack, saw who it was, then let it close again.
"Who was it?" Axel asked. The member shook his head.
"No one we know or want to talk to." Axel sighed and got up from his seat. He was the only mature one in the apartment, that much was obvious. This wasn't his first time considering leaving the group of them. He considered often but never acted.
He opened the door to see the hot diner neighbor. She didn't look happy to be there but Axel smiled at the sight of her.
"Hey..." he said, shoving his hands into his pockets, cigarette still dangling from his lips. He waited for her to give an explanation.
The door opened a crack and Kate couldn't see much more than a shadow and the vague features of a mostly hidden face and then the door closed again. She frowned, her brows furrowing. They did NOT just shut the door on her!
She lifted a hand to knock again but before she did the door opened and her hand fell awkwardly to her side. She wasn't sure if this was the same person who had closed the door on her before but it didn't matter. The door was open now. "Hey." She said, crossing her arms across her chest without thinking about the subconscious action. "Do you think you could turn the music down? You're keeping everyone awake. Including baby Emma across the hall." She said. "I think her parents deserve a little sleep with a newborn at home, don't you?" She asked.
Axel was a relatively reasonable fellow. He thought they were too loud, too. He was also, however, loyal.
"That's not my music." He let her know.
"As for Emma she cries during the night every night, with or without music. At least her parents have something to shift the blame to tonight." He wasn't trying to be a dick but her crossed arms and ruler-of-these-apartments attitude wasn't going to have Axel doing her any favors.
"Shut up and sleep with her already!" shouted one of his friends from inside the apartment.
King was one of the ones playing guitar hero too loudly. He didn't care that it was upsetting someone. He also didn't care about the potential ramifications it might have on his job or his reputation. It was fun right now and he was in full Carpe Diem mode.
"Shut up and sleep with her already!" He called from inside, then added, "Or if you don't then I will." Kate Bartlett was easily the hottest broad in town. King liked himself some booty. She had a nice booty. Hopefully she liked forward men and would take him up on his offer.
Kate chewed on the inside of her bottom lip at his response. Her arms crossed over her chest hadn't meant to come across as rude, mostly it was a protective action. This was a room full of several guys who easily had the strength and possibly the personality to overtake her if they wanted to.
She wasn't sure who the voice was inside but she sighed a bit impatiently. "Okay, that may be true about Emma but she's not the only one who is being kept awake. Could you guys please turn it down?" She asked.
Axel smiled at Kate. "I think they can but I can't Kind of a living with other guys code thing. I'm not going to get into that. I bet they'd turn it off if you came in and hung out."
He shrugged, then looked over his shoulder at King and the others.
"Hey, will you guys turn that off if we had a house guest?"
King was the guitarist for the game. The other member was on the drums. He was better at the drums but he liked the challenge of the guitar. They were doing well but with the hot distraction at the door their score started to go down. When Axel suggested they bring her in he was happy to oblige.
"The diner chick? Hell yeah!" In fact, to prove his point, King reached over and turned the tv off right then. The other gang member wasn't happy about it, but King could apologize later. He stood and went to the door, standing next to his shorter friend and pushing the door open a little more. He didn't hide the way his eyes ran over Kate's form.
"You want a drink?" He asked, assuming she'd already agreed to come in and join them.
This was a terrible idea. She shouldn’t be doing this. These guys did have a reputation after all. She wondered if all the rumors she heard were true. She sure hoped not. A small town like this did get some pretty crazy ideas though so maybe the tales she had heard whispered were all just exaggerations of the truth.
Before she could even agree or disagree the music was shut off. She rubbed her lips together in thought. She didn’t like the way they looked at her, didn’t like that she’d be inside their home alone with three men. If Brodie found out...perhaps she should have just called him rather then getting involved.
“How about we take drinks down to the courtyard?” She suggested with a smile, grateful the music was off. “It’s a nice night.”
