03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
Horseback lessons had been slow this season. Which was fine with Ferris because that meant he had to worry about less people. It was less money and less tips though, so it was a bit tougher there, but he’d managed to stretch his pay checks out with simpler food, not to mention paying Darcy back for some of those shared groceries went a lot further than shopping for one.
He only found himself at the barns once or twice a week these days between his work schedule. Even when he didn’t have lessons though, he still worked out of habit. Supposedly it was to help exercise some of the horses, though the Vandersons had plenty of hands around to do that. Even the excuse of the small paycheck wasn’t the real reason. It was more about the simple act of doing something. Of keeping his hands busy so that he didn’t slip any further than he already had, especially while he was still debating about getting back on his meds. It was one thing to say he wanted to. Another thing entirely to do. Besides, one would need to talk to a doctor about that and while he knew a stellar nurse, she probably wasn’t going to write a prescription for antidepressants. Plus…it felt awkward, putting something like doctor patient confidentiality on whatever their relationship was.
Ferris led a feisty flaxen chestnut mare back to her stall after grooming her down. Having just finished up a lesson, she was at least a bit more content to settle in. Just in time for meal time too, from the look of some of the stable hands filling bowls and feeders. He removed her halter and rubbed her forehead affectionately before stepping back and closing her in.
The firefighter ran a hand through his hair and looked down at his watch. He had another lesson scheduled in an hour at 4pm but he was starving already. He wasn’t sure if he really had time to take a break and get food, but he needed something. The in mind, he trudged back to the main building and the tiny old staff lounge there to check out the vending machine. It had been a while since it was restocked, which made his options pretty slim. Gum, Cheetos, various pop tart flavors, and a few of those protein snacks with a mix of cheese, nuts, and meat. Which would have to do.
He threaded a worn five dollar bill into the machine, relieved that it accepted it with the right amount of credit. Only for the spiral to get stuck, the snack pack leaning against the glass.
“Perfect,” he grumbled as the machine cheerily returned him his change in quarters. He scooped them out and then kicked the machine half heartedly. “Just perfect.”
