03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
Seriously that was the coolest thing that had happened since he’d gotten there. Hearing about it from some random guys. But waiting until night had been a pain. But he had done it. Given there was nothing fun about visiting one during the day!
Mike thanked god he always had a flashlight on him when he’d finally squeezed through a window onto the inside flicking it on. Already the darkness of the home and the old nature creeped him out...
Awesome!
A part of him wanted to say screw the motel. He’d just move in here and ghost hunt. But the other side of course said he’d get caught. So he’d have to settle for this one for now. “Haha this is gonna be awesome.” He grinned.
Jack regularly visited the Lament House, always seeking to capture some of the action through photo or film. He hadn’t been too lucky so far but had heard the sounds of, well, lamenting when he walked by at night.
It hasn’t been his intention to go inside tonight, he was simply driving past when he happened to catch a flash of light inside through one of the dusty windows. He slowed down and parked. People didn’t normally brave the old house. Maybe this was some strange new occurrence?!
He stalked quietly towards the house. His camera out, he set it to record a video and hit the red record button as he stepped inside and started to follow the light.
Really, he hadn’t been in this place five minutes. Did he already seem to have some sort of... Ghost or something around? Lord he would be that lucky. In fact he was hoping something would happen so if it did. Bonus points! He stepped a little closer to get a look.
Of course, he saw the red button first. It was dark and all.
When the boy first came into his view Jack's first reaction that it must be a ghost. He jumped and his hands gripped the camera tighter. However, he then caught the site of the flashlight in his hands just as the boy spoke and Jack sighed, his heart still pounding. "You scared me." he said with a small sigh, sure that the beam of the light would soon land on him.
"What are you doing in here?" He asked. "Hunting for ghosts?"
After all he was hardly the one to startle easily but the guy had come from out of nowhere! Who the hell was he anyway? Some sort of reporter? The camera seemed to suggest so anyway. “I should be asking you the same thing! Man I nearly crapped myself!”
He didn’t mean it in a mean way. He only meant it in the sense he had not seen it coming. “I mean... Ghost hunting on private property? Hahaha what have you that idea?” He asked nervously.
Jack gave a little smile and shrugged one shoulder apologetically. "Ya, I saw the light and thought..." He paused and shrugged again. "I guess it doesn't matter now." He finished and turned off the red light, stopping the recording for now.
"If they wanted to keep people out then they shouldn't make it so easy to get inside." He added with a little sly grin. "Perhaps we can look around together?" He suggested. It might be nice to have some company, to have two people looking in two different directions.
"I'd sure like to catch something on camera." He admitted though it was an understatement. As much as Jack liked photography, his dream was to photograph something supernatural.
It was super easy to get in this place, wasn’t it? He wondered why they would make it so easy now. We’re people afraid of this place or something? “I’d be cool with ghost hunting together,” he explained. Though he hoped t wouldn’t go badly like if he were a creep or something. “Photography is a good idea too. I bet there are all kinds of orbs.”
He then questioned. “Do you do that for a living?”
Jack nodded with a smile. He hoped at the very least that he'd capture some orbs. Though he kept his fingers crossed that he'd get something even better. He'd have to see how lucky they got.
"Ya, I do." He answered the boy's question. "Mostly for the tribune but also just about any other photography needs the town has." He said. "I'm Jack by the way."
Honestly, photography was pretty cool. Even if Mike had never been very good at it - he did always find it cool to look at. Especially spirit photography. “Spirit photography is ultra cool honestly,” he explained in a perky manner. “Not that I’m any good at that stuff myself. But I like looking at it - y’know?”
Of course, he was sure he didn’t do that for the paper though. “I’m guessing you don’t do it for the “tribune” though,” he hedged. “Just out here for pleasure?”
The kid's approval made Jack smile. "Ya, I think so too. Hopefully one day I'll have something of my own to share. Maybe tonight." He said with a lift of his brows.
He chuckled a little at the followup question. "Correct, not for the tribune. Just a passion project of mine." He answered. "So, what's your name, kid?" He asked in a friendly way.
Mike nodded. He wondered how often one even got ghosts on camera. All the time? Once in a while? It seemed like they flooded the internet when I got on library computers. “So you haven’t gotten one before then? I’ve always wondered if it happens a lot or just a little,” he admitted. “A lot of that stuff on google looks so fake.”
Oh! His name. He hasn’t even introduced himself - good job. “Sorry I’m Mike. New to town,” he managed putting his hands in his pockets. “And you are...?”
"I've tried several times, it's trickier than the internet makes it seem. Or perhaps there aren't any actual ghosts here. I'm hoping it's not the later." He said with a little chuckle and a shrug.
"Nice to meet you, Mike." He said with a little smile. "I'm Jack."
Just then he heard a thump from upstairs and his gaze was drawn above them and then towards the stairs. "Wanna go check it out?"
He wondered why the world could make it easy on the internet though. Again, photoshop he guessed. “Well that’s the part that sucks about photoshop anyone can use it,” he explained. “That’s probably what happens with most of the “ghost photos” on the net.”
Mike nodded his head in acknowledgment of his name before the thump got his attention. “Hell yeah. I’m curious what that was now.” He explained. “Unless it’s literally a third party.”
