03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
After their little coffee date Ferris and Valkyrie had continued to keep in touch. The nurse couldn't help but feel butterflies fluttering whenever his name popped up on her phone but given all she'd gone through in her past she was also trying to be cautious about how she moved forward. As Christmas got closer it found them both working on Christmas Day, something they had both been expecting, but Valkyrie was scheduled to get off in the evening which she was grateful for. They had briefly talked about Christmas on their date already so she told him she'd try to stop by when she got the chance, but when that was confirmed she decided to playfully keep him guessing on if it would work out or not.
When she got off she went home to shower and change from her scrubs to something cuter. She opted for a soft deep green turtleneck sweater that didn't show much skin but definitely hugged all her curves and a pair of jeans with boots sturdy enough to walk in the snow. She made some food for them to share and put it in a container that would keep it warm before she hopped in her car to head to the fire station.
As she was on her way her over it started to snow and it wasn't long before it was thick enough to decrease visibility and forced her to slow down just in case. She made it to the fire station around 7 and parked, pulling her white puffer coat tighter around her as she hurried inside. Large snowflakes stuck to her white hair, making it look almost glittery as she stepped in and spoke to the first person that she saw. "I was hoping to see Chief Felwinter..." she said a bit shyly but with a soft smile.

Thankfully, Christmas Day was mostly quiet. Darcy had seen to it that he didn't spend all of it invested in either real work or class work, arranging a sort of scavenger hunt in the station. Which had been cut short by a stove fire that got slightly out of hand. Thankfully, everyone was okay, including his crew.
Back at the station that evening, he had stripped down and helped clean the drive and spread out more salt before showering and changing. Only to be back out on the roads again, helping plow with his pick-up. He kept an eye on his phone, hoping Valkyrie managed to get off work, even if their tentative plans didn't work out. He was in and out of the station, after all and by six thirty, it had started to snow even more. They had move of the main roads covered though, and thankfully the last round hadn't been too heavy. He stayed out a bit longer, finishing one of the connecting roads for some of the country homes before heading back.
The first person Valkyrie ran into at the station was Conner, who had just got back with the station pick up from plowing himself. He paused, looking the woman up and down, recognition setting in after a moment. She was one of the nurses. the young man nodded and then spun, pointing in the direction of the garage before he managed to make words. "I think...he just got back?" He offered a shy smile, and then continued on his way to the living room.
Ferris pulled into the lot behind the station, dropping out of his truck and walking around to the front to unhook the plow for the next shift. He walked in through the garage glad in a grey hoodie, dark leather jacket pulled over that, still wearing his work pants, heavy socks and boots. He pulled down his jacket zipper and then crouched down to untie his shoes in between the fire truck and the engine. He picked up his boots and carried them over to the lockers, enjoying the cool cement beneath his socks. As cold as it was outside, the cab of his truck had been toasty and he was looking forward to another break before the end of his shift.
He'd reached the door to the garage at about the same time as Valkyrie did, pulling it open only to freeze, surprised to see anyone, let alone the lovely nurse. "Valkyrie, hey! You made it off your shift?" Obviously, he felt silly saying it, but would blame the long day. He was in desperate need of a change of clothes, if not another shower. Meanwhile, the woman looked the epitome of suave and put together and just a bit cute, between the green turtleneck and her puffy white coat, the snow flacks just melting in her frost color hair and those boots. He could certainly approve of the boots. "You, uh, want a tour?" His tone was tired, but the smile was sincere.

Valkyrie thanked Cooner and when she had headed towards the garage she had reached towards the door only to have it suddenly opening from the other side. She jumped a little in surprise and then laughed softly as they were suddenly standing in front of each other. At least he hadn't been hard to find. "Ferris!" she said with a grin and stepped back a bit so he could come inside. "I did, lucky me. I was going to text you but decided to make a surprise instead." Maybe it was silly. "Merry Christmas by the way!"
She shifted the tote back that was over her shoulder as he offered a tour and she grinned. "Oh that sounds lovely, I'd love to see where you spend so much of your time," she said with that warm smile of hers, as if she could melt the snow right off the streets.

He did step inside, closing the door firmly behind him so as not to leave it open to a draft. He returned her grin. His eyes shifted to the bag she carried, taking a moment to puzzle out what she meant. Make something? Oh, right, she had mentioned food. He was far too tired to make sense of even simple ideas at the moment. "We really appreciate it," he said, meaning the food. A lot of the crew's family made something for them to bring and Cisco liked to use the excuse to cook more than normal, but it was a very welcome gift, whether it was a salad or a steak or dessert.
"Merry Christmas," he returned, despite not celebrating at all. His usual go to was the happy holidays tag, but even then it was a stretch. Still, he could handle returning holiday cheer.
Ferris reached out to brush her elbow in a casual 'this way' sort of gesture as he moved past. "Main lobby isn't too fancy," he said of the cozy space with a bench, the walls covered in group pictures and plaques and news clippings and art made by local kids. "Kitchen and living room are over here," he said, leading the way to another door and pushing it open, holding it for Valkyrie to step inside. It was an open floor plan sort of style, a couch and recliners facing a tv with gaming console, the dining room table cover in snacks and foods that were mostly empty and cold. The kitchen in the back was a good size with a long bar top. It was surprisingly clean at the moment, but Connor had been making that his pet project for the day while there were less people around. "Dorm and showers are through there," he added, gesturing to another door but not making any more to enter it, especially knowing his coworker was probably making use of both.

It might have been a small, casual gesture but they were still in that new phase of whatever this was that even the small touch was greatly noticed and sent a little burst of warmth through her chest. She smiled genuinely as they walked through the fire station. It wasn't anything fancy but it looked well equipped and maintained. "This is nice, looks like a pretty decent place to spend so much time without feeling like you're going crazy," it was as much a comment as a question, hoping he didn't hate it too much that he was stuck here when he had to work.
"Are you hungry? I made Thai food. Enough to share for whoever else is working tonight," she said, nudging the bag over her shoulder with her elbow. They had talked about Thai food on their coffee date. She didn't know if he'd remember but she had said she'd make it for him sometime and tonight seemed as good of a time as any.

Sweetwater Fire Station was an older building. Nothing on the level of 'historical' but certainly not modern. On the exterior. And the plumbing. But they had redone the wiring just before Ferris moved here and while most of the interiors were cheap (minus the very nice sofa) they were all well maintained. "The Fire Chief has a zero-tolerance rule for not cleaning up your own messes," he said with a nod. Of course, meaning himself. But he wasn't joking this time. "And we try to update or refresh something every year. Last year was the couch." It was a large charcoal grey "L" shaped thing that even less than a year old, it looked a bit deflated, yet somehow even more comfortable for it. Most importantly, it was clean.
"Gym and stairs up to the classrooms and offices is over here," he said, indicating another door that connected to a hallway and also back to the little lobby. It was small in comparison to where he had first started working but he did agree, he enjoyed it. "I sleep here every other night so I suppose I agree," he said with a small smile. Before he could make to show her said gym or his office though, Valkyrie mentioned food.
Specifically Thai food, which was something they had talked about. Really, anything Asian Ferris enjoyed, but that...even better. He couldn't keep the excitement from his eyes. Her suggesting it was for everyone made it a bit less awkward. Sure, she made it for them and for him but if it was for the station then this wasn't officially a date. Just...a two-person party. With Conner and Alvarez, he supposed. He gestured for her to take the lead to the bar counter. "Starving. By all means, we...I appreciate the thought, Valkyrie," he said. "Do you need a hand getting anything ready?" He asked, realizing he probably should have asked that sooner. But he had told her he was a terrible cook, right? Probably. It might be best he just...round up the meager troops, as it were.

This was certainly still in the early stages. Today wasn't even an actual date. Valkyrie had to admit though that as nervous as she might be to get into another relationship, she really liked Ferris and was enjoying getting to know him.
She moved over to the counter as he motioned and when he thanked her, using her name as he did, she smiled softly back up at him. "It was my pleasure, really. I couldn't let our firefighters have a cheap meal on Christmas after all," she added, her eyes sparkling but the expression in them was enough to tell him that while she was happy to bring food for everyone, she had done this for him.
"No, I just need to pull it all out. So I guess just plates and silverware," she said as she began to pull dishes out of the bag and set them out with serving utensils she'd brought with her. There was Pad Thai noodles, Tom Yum soup, Thai Green curry with rice, chicken satay, and mango sticky rice as a little sweet treat. It was a lot of food for sure and yes, she'd spent a decent amount of time preparing it all.

Ferris still wasn't really sure what to make of them together. Honestly, thinking about it was a bit too early. But he did enjoy Valkyrie's company and really appreciated her being here. Not just for him, but for the people and place he cared about so much. Which, in a way, was also for him.
He chuckled as she references them not having a holiday feast. Some of the other firefighter's families had made various casseroles and meats and other sides over the month, left over taking up various space in the fridge. Cisco had made a lot as well, the man often using them as an excuse to try something new. "You calling my plan to make hot dogs and hamburgers cheap, eh?" He teased in his not quite teasing enough tone. "It's an American holiday staple," he added, tone still serious and trying to look hurt, but the slight grin ruined the effect. He had no such plans to make anything, considering they had plenty of leftovers to heat up and he wasn't about to grill outside in this weather or touch the range.
"Plates and utensils," he repeated with a nod. "I can do that." He stepped around her, perhaps a bit closer than necessary, but not quite touching. There was plenty of space and he wasn't trying to force anything. Being comfortable and close to her wasn't quite 'normal' just yet, but he wanted it to be. It would just take time. And the right place. Now certainly wasn't it. Now, was Thai food time. He opened one of the cabinets for plates, pulling out a small stack and setting them on the counter along with some bowls while Valkyrie unloaded food. He kept a careful eye on each new item, eager to taste all of them, recognizing most, admittedly never having tried the soup or mango sticky rice. He was really looking forward to that.
"It smells great," he said, setting down a fistful of forks, knives, and spoons. "Looks even better. Quite an impressive spread," he noted appreciatively. She'd put in a lot of time and effort. Probably all morning or the night before. "Thank you," he said. And then before he could feel anymore awkward, he moved away from the counter. "I'll be right back, just wanna tell the others," he said, quickly exiting the room and tracking them down. While they both appreciated the heads up about eating, only Alverez followed him back to the living space, eager to get herself a plate of everything.
Ferris introduced the two women quickly, leaning on the counter as Alverez collected what she wanted and sat at the end of the table. Ferris recalled they had talked a bit about cooking but... "I didn't realize you were such an accomplished chef," he complimented, grabbing a bowl and starting with the soup, but then, as his stomach grumbled at him, he broke down and grabbed a plate too. He was going to eat all of it. Especially the green curry. "You have a favorite?"
