03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
It had been a long and difficult journey with Brian shifting the key to shut off the ignition of his pick up truck ; the last rumbles of his engine spattered into silence. Brian felt a sigh part his dry lips with the weary man holding out his hands to tightly grip the steering wheel feeling his knuckles blaze into that cream white. A moment between man and beast passed with the two sharing an invisible connection that couldn’t be explained by any ‘ normal ‘ means. It was apart of him no more than the thing they called a soul.
Brian cussed snapping out of his broody state reaching over to open his truck door before slamming it behind him. He needed to get checked into the motel and start unpacking the mountains of belongings. A scrutinising glance trailed across the exterior of the Motel, it didn’t look too bad with the seemingly old building looking in decent condition. After some more looking around the area, he finally found it : the reception.
A half smile and a courteous greeting was offered on his way to the front desk. “ A room for ten nights, ma’am. “ He requested in his rather warm accent slapping down the correct amount of cash. “ Ah, a tourist, are you? “ The lady at the desk asked him. “ Of the sorts . “ Brian replied letting that half smile linger waiting for her to fetch him his keys. “ You’ll be staying in room ten. “ A nod and a wave then Brian was back to his vehicle preparing to take on the tedious task of unpacking.
Brian opened the back of the trunk to start unloading his belongings, but stopped mid way. He for whatever reason stopped to look around him seeing if he could see anyone else in the car park.

Despite getting himself more situated in town with a job, Jasper still found himself staying at the Motel 51. Mostly because it was where his sister was staying, but also because they didn’t seem to mind extending his need of the room. The man had mostly lived out of his vehicle since dropping out of school, so a motel suited his less than ‘permanent’ plans. Sweetwater was nice enough, but he didn’t like to commit to leases like most apartments called for.
The redhead ran a hand through his hair as he checked his phone, ensuring he wasn’t working today, but he was on call. So, he made sure to have the pager charged and on him incase he was needed. For now, he was needing to get his vehicle washed and tend to some laundry. The man was just finishing up putting the basket in the back of his ‘88 Ford Bronco, when he turned to see a new face. Not that Jasper was much of a local himself, but he’d been staying in the motel a few weeks now and had at least come to recognize the vehicles of the people, if not the people themselves.
“It’s not so bad once you get inside, the walls are a bit thin but nothing the tv or a nightcap can’t drown out.” He said with a slight shrug as he nodded toward the motel, his hand pushing the back tire rack closed on his own vehicle. The man looked a bit travel weary. “Town’s not so bad either, bar has an awesome bartender. But I’m biased, she’s my sister.” He couldn’t help but chuckle a little with a shake of his head.
Dazed by his inner thoughts running rampant in his mind they played like a movie that had a run time of his entire life. Brian was torn away from himself and the “ parasite “ that lingered in his skin, he turned to face the unfamiliar voice and face. “ That right ? “ A fleeting second maybe would’ve given away Brian’s true feelings before that friendly smile and tone tucked away his lurking sadness. “ Say. If you could help me with this heavy load, I just might buy us a few rounds? “ Two birds, one stone. Brian wasn’t against the idea of meeting another person especially if he could gain a new drinking partner. They’d both get a drink and then he could get a feel for this stranger place that drew him in like a siren’s call. “ Oh , and by the way . . . “ Brian’s words cut off mid sentence with the man extending his hand out to offer the strange a hand shake . “ The names : Brian Blake. “

Jasper noticed Brian’s unease, the way his thoughts seemed to race and yet remain hidden behind a practiced smile. His work as an EMT left him really good at getting a read on people. So, he responded with a warm grin, hoping to put Brian at ease.
“Nice to meet you, Brian. I’m Jasper,” He said, shaking Brian’s hand firmly. “I’d be happy to help with the load. And those rounds sound like a great idea—nothing like a good drink to break the ice.”
Jasper took a step closer, ready to assist. “So, what’s your story? New in town, or just passing through? This place does have a way of drawing people in.” As they started working together, Jasper kept his tone friendly and light, hoping to chip away at the walls Brian had built around himself.
Ironically , Brian’s defence mechanisms that Jasper picked up on instantly shielded the man from the wolfish truth . A half truth with the devil being in the details that would elude the blissfully unaware stranger . Although , it hadn’t occurred to Brian that his own mask had been unveiled .
“ Glad to hear that , Jasper . “ Funnily enough some of his actual smile managed to worm itself through his facade at the mention of drinks and a possible new friend . “ Are the folk around these parts usually this nice or is it just you ? “ He mused .
Brian had already reached into the back of the truck grabbing some of the heavier belongings before answering his question . “ That’s a story that would be best told over some drinks . “ He grunted holding the box . “ But , I reckon you would be right about this odd place drawing me in with a chilling pull . "

Of course, this question caused Jasper to chuckle a bit as he offered a casual shrug. “I’m actually not from around here myself, but from what I’ve seen the people are nice enough.” He recalled his first day in town and receiving a phone number while at Rosie’s before going to see his sister. “They definitely give off a more genuine welcoming attitude than that of most tourist towns.” He admitted with a nod.
While he generally preferred to travel to smaller, less trafficked towns; Sweetwater was where Bex was, and he missed his sister. Though, he was surprised she had stayed here as long as she had so far. But, he supposed the town had a nice little charm about it. That, and the locals all seemed to be exceptionally attractive. Oddly enough, it wasn’t even the supernatural elements that drew him in, as the young man was rather blissfully ignorant to such things. Though, he was finding it odd just how much history the little town had with odd occurrences.
“Well, let’s get you settled here so we can get those drinks and swap some stories.” Another half grin as he grabbed some of Brian’s belongings and raised a brow. “Which room have they got you in?” He asked as he readied to follow the other man’s lead. It seemed a lot of people from all walks of life were easily drawn into the charming little town.
Surprised. Brian just from first impressions alone had gathered Jasper had been from this town. Maybe, it was the way the other man carried himself and spoke so freely. “ Could’ve fooled me. I was convinced that you were one of the locals until just now. “ Brian wouldn’t comment on the bit about the ‘friendly’ townsfolk with the texan only meeting two people so far. “ Most towns tend to despise tourist especially weary travellers from afar. “ That last bit about the ‘ weary travellers ‘ sounded personal with his tone growing somewhat distant.
Brian had struggled with his recent visits to the towns that were along his route. They had treated the wolf in sheep’s clothing two ways : indifference or disregard. It seemed most people cared little for outsiders and even worse if you were a tourist, so Brian not being a tourist was his only saving grace. Sweetwater might be the change he needed right now and it was shaping up to be a real opportunity.
“ Let’s get to it! A bottle of Jack is singin’ my name , can ya hear it ? “ Another grunt as Brian carried the belongings up the stairs. “ Room ten just up ahead . “ They’d finished climbing the stairs going right across the walkway before passing multiple numbered rooms. “ Here she is. “ Muttered Brian fumbling with his keys. “ Say — did I ask what brought you here to this town, I mean? “ Hopefully, it be the change of topic that would divert Jasper’s attention away from his self-loathing.

Jasper adjusted his grip on the heavy load, giving Brian a knowing smile. "I get that a lot," He admitted. "I've always had a knack for blending in, I suppose."
He listened carefully as Brian spoke, picking up on the subtle notes of weariness in his tone. "I can understand that. Some places aren’t exactly welcoming to newcomers. But Sweetwater’s a bit different, I think. There’s something here that feels… well, let’s just say it’s more inviting than most places I’ve been."
As they climbed the stairs and made their way to room ten, Jasper couldn’t help but feel a pang of empathy for Brian. He could sense the man had been through some rough patches, and Jasper knew a thing or two about needing a fresh start.
When Brian asked about his reason for being in town, Jasper’s expression softened. "I came to see my sister," He said, a hint of warmth in his voice. "She’s lived here for a few months now, and I figured it was time for a visit. Needed a break from my usual routine."
He paused as Brian fumbled with his keys. "Sometimes, a change of scenery is exactly what we need, right? Sweetwater might be just the place for that." Jasper hoped his words might offer Brian a bit of comfort or at least a distraction from whatever burdens he carried. ”And that I can, a drink will be nice after you get situated.”
Brian felt another sigh part his lips . “ Reckon that must be nice . “ he muttered quietly more a less to himself , but it was loud enough for Jasper to hear the comment . “ I tend to stick out like a stick in the mud. You see : usually most folk don’t take a likin’ to me . “ a shrug then another groan with the heavy load starting to take it’s effect on the man . “ Call it what ya like but it’s the truth . “ A brief pause let Brian listen to Jasper’s response that weariness from earlier no longer subtle . “ Maybe , it’s the atmosphere , or the . . . shit , I don’t know . “ he tried to make sense of the eerie feeling the two shared about this place , but the shrouded answer only frustrated the man .
Unlike the other . Brian wasn’t reading Jasper’s overall character instead sticking to replying and judging him on first impressions alone . Jasper was soft spoken and nice — he reminded Brian of his younger brother . When Jasper replied to his question about his sister ; a weight was lifted off his shoulders . It took the attention of him momentarily and that short time would be used for Brian to focus on Jasper . “ That’s good . “ he added . “ A break can help , but I’d say family is an added bonus . We all need people in our life , Jasper . “
The room unlocked with a click followed by a cringing creak as the door swung open revealing the time-worn room . “ Change of scenery , huh ? “ Brian said sarcastically looking into the room before flicking a glance at Jasper . “ Let’s get this out of the way . “ Walking on ahead something fell out of Brian’s heap of belongings and it didn’t seem to alert him . A shiny object lay on the dirty carpet . It faintly glinted in the sunlight that cracked through the motel window . Whatever , it was called to Jasper wanting to be discovered before Brian noticed . . .
While he did in fact catch the comment, Jasper didn’t feel quite so compelled to press on say anything more on it. A lot of it had to do with the way he was raised and just his general personable attitude and personality. He was always one to offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it, current company a prime example of just that. Still, he couldn’t quite speak for all of Sweetwater. Mostly he’d just been familiarizing himself with the roads and fastest routes to and from the Hospital, so most of his conversations were had with hospital staff, emergency response workers and officers. Though he had been quite enjoying the bar where Bex worked as well as Rosie’s. “Well, maybe you’ll have better luck around here.” He offered, hopefully giving the man something to be a bit on the more optimistic side about.
He couldn’t help but chuckle a little as Brian seemed to try and offer input on what could be part of the appeal to the little town. It would likely continue to stay just a bit of a mystery. But, amusing nonetheless. “Guess you’ll just have to stick around and figure it out.” He offered with a nod.
The shift in conversation to himself was one that made him smile. He might not always be in agreement with his parents, but Bex was always the best part about being born into his family. “Oh, you don’t have to tell me twice! I think I’ve had enough time away from my sister, I’d like to stick closer to her… she’s been through a lot.” No one should have to suffer the loss she experienced, and Jasper carried quite a bit of guilt over not being closer when she was going through the worst of it.
Jasper followed the man into the room and nodded at the question. “I just realized… I wasn’t doing what inspired me in my life. So O I switched things up, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.” Of course, eventually this meant he would need to actually answer the phone when his parents called, but baby steps. They needed to calm down and realize that him dropping out of that school wasn’t the worst thing in life for him.
His thoughts were interrupted by something shiny falling from Brian’s load he was carrying, catching his eye, Jasper bent over to pick it up. “Hey, I think you dropped something…” He trailed off as he picked up the shiny item with a raised brow.
Words drown out the inner workings of Brian Blake , it was nice not hearing , or feeling the beast for the first time in a lonnngg time . Jasper’s replies and tad bits about his life helped the Texan distract himself with getting the belongings in the room , so much so that he had failed to notice one of the bags that had fallen off the pile . It wasn’t uncommon for him to zone out mid task or even while in the middle of a conversation that was something Jasper would come to learn about him .
“ Gosh darn i— “ Brian’s words caught in his throat with his eyes instantly catching sight of the object that had fell onto the carpet . A single silver bullet . It had been knocked out of the ammo box upon smashing against the ground and rolled out from the now open box . “ Careful , it’s a / real / one . “ Cautiously , he made his way over to the side of Jasper motioning with his body language for him to back up . “ Nothin’ wrong with a little home defence . “ A silent prayer was heard in his head with Brian hoping Jasper knew nothing about bullets and just assumed , it was just a regular bullet .
“ Ever seen or even held a gun before ? “ Brian quite drastically shifted the conversation away from new beginnings and family . There was no doubt Jasper might jump onto this situation, so why not try to ease the nerves just in case the man reacts . “ No offence — but you don’t strike me as the man to use guns. “ A reluctant hand reached out to grasp the bullet, then like a jolt of electricity the wolf within recoiled ! It thrashed against his very core as his palm closed around the bullet . A quiet hiss sizzled from within his hands the silver starting to irritate his skin and threaten to bring about the wolf pre-emptively . Brian cringed “ nonchalantly “ turning away to return the bullet to the box of rounds trying his hardest not to appear in any sort of discomfort . Invisible and aggressive . The wolf snapped it's mental fangs at the unprovoked assault its response to this rude awakening was the appearance of wolfish fur starting to cover his upper body . It began to itch the skin with the urge to change growing worse by the second . . . .

Jasper looked at the shiny object before realizing it was a bullet. But honestly, he didn’t have much experience with guns himself. He was more into boxing himself. Though if he had to guess, Brian seemed more like the hunting type. He was a bit impressed with how solid the butter was, and shiny. Was it, silver perhaps?
Nah, that would be ridiculous. No one hunted will silver bullets. He gave a shrug as he watched the man take the bullet and shook his head. “Hey, no offense taken; you’re right in that assumption. I box and work out to keep in shape and blow off steam. Though I supposed if I’m going to stick around here I might want to get at least familiar with a hand gun.” He chuckled a little, not quite piecing together that Brian was in pain touching that bullet. Because that would be crazy, right?
“But also, now. I’ve never really had a reason to handle a gun, my sister’s girlfriend was gunned down in a bar, so I’m not quite fond of them.” He shared briefly, knowing that overall was his main reason for avoiding the pieces. Besides, he felt most conflict could be resolved peacefully, or with fists.
“Look, I think we’ve about got the last of things in. Do you want a hand unpacking or are you ready to get that drink?” He asked with a friendly smile as he ran a hand through his read hair, glancing around casually.
Brian felt a stab of guilt upon hearing the mention of Jasper’s sister’s girlfriend’s death . It upset him knowing that the Texan had unknowingly caused a reminder to that tragedy and Jasper had to relive it . “ Apologies . “ He sighed , half turning to give him a sympathetic look .
“ I reckon that’s just about all of it . “ Brian made a loud noise as he dropped the last of the more heavier belongings onto the floor . “ Jasper , you’ve done more than enough , friend . “ He flashed that familiar smile using his hand to wipe away the sweat that had formed around his forehead . “ Absolutely . Just wait outside for me just got to do something . “
Brian slipped the bullet into his pocket grabbing one of the bags out of sight from Jasper . He took the bag into the bathroom where he laid it down ; his hands reaching down to unzip the zipper . ( “ Just in case “ ) Brian thought to himself looking down at the shiny revolver that rested inside there . Quietly , he grabbed the firearm feeling the weight of it before he flickerd the cylinder to the right and carefully placed the singular bullet into place .
A few more moments passed until Brian left the bathroom with the man walking up to join Jasper . “ Alrighty . “ He hummed . “ Lead the way . “

Jasper nodded at Brian's apology, his expression softening a bit. "No need to apologize, Brian. It's just one of those things." He said, giving a small, understanding smile.
Watching Brian drop the last heavy item with a thud, Jasper chuckled. "You've done your fair share too. It's no trouble at all," He replied, wiping his own brow with the back of his hand. "I'll be right outside."
Jasper stepped out into the fresh air, taking a moment to enjoy the brief respite. He understood the need to settle in and feel secure in a new place. As he waited, his thoughts drifted to his sister's girlfriend, and he took a deep breath, letting the memories wash over him briefly before shaking them off.
When Brian rejoined him, Jasper gave him an encouraging nod. "Alright, let's get you properly settled in. This way," he said, leading the way with a steady pace. "You'll like it here, Brian. Sweetwater's a good place, and we'll make sure you're taken care of."
As they walked, Jasper made small talk, pointing out different landmarks and giving Brian a sense of the town's layout. "If you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask. We're all here to help each other out." Jasper added, his tone warm and welcoming.
Brian quietly walked alongside Jasper feeling at ease with the company of a good friend and the comfort of his revolver in his jacket ; it’s bulky weight occasionally bumping into his side reminding him of the firearm if he ever had to resort to the worse case scenario . That grim thought would be drown out by Jasper’s warm tone that enthusiastically spoke about the town’s layout and the many landmarks some of which Brian stopped to gaze up at letting the other explain it to him in more detail . “ Y’know , I have read some of the town’s leaflets , but you’re doing their job for them . “ He’d stop beside Jasper feeling his expression shift at his next comment . “ I do hope that’s case . I’m still getting used to the town’s hospitality and welcoming people . “
“ Actually . I do have a question . “ Brian pondered how to ask the unusual question and eventually found a way to phrase it without it sounding strange . “ Do you know if there’s any groups of people that hike in the forests or nearby mountains ? I saw there’s quite few places to walk and hunt . “ Oddly , he found himself surprised by his own question with the man preferring his own company to that of others , so why did he have this sudden urge to find a group of people similar to him ?
