03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
“Well, I’m not too helpful there. I’ve got my own vices I’m not too proud of; I’m not about to shame you for yours.” She teased with a cheeky grin as she ran a hand through her messy curls and gave them a gentle toss. Maybe she should get a hair cut. Do something different. She liked the idea of getting some more tattoos.
“Hey, I can always pull some strings and upgrade to first class.” Darcy said it like she was joking, but it wasn’t a stretch. In fact; their tickets weren’t going to cost her a thing. She’d already received a phone call from that pack’s current Alpha, insisting on paying for her traveling expenses. As a ‘goodwill gesture’. She was an Alpha after all, and he wanted to assure her that she was to be kept safe. Sadly, that only made her feel worse. Because her paranoid brain took his proactive attitude to mean that he too was concerned that someone might try something stupid. But that was just her being paranoid, right?
“As long as we can stop by this little vineyard about two hours from the Swiss Alps, I’ll be content.” She said with a soft smile, twirling her keys on her finger before easing off the tailgate and walking to her door. “And no, not for a bottle of wine. I’m more of a whiskey gal myself.” She teased as she slid into her seat and buckled up, keys slipping into the ignition. The truck’s engine fired up with ease and she wasn’t even aware of the smile that pulled across her lips at the sound. She only waited long enough to allow him time to get himself situated in the seat comfortably and buckle up before she left the parking lot to Purgatory and took the oh so familiar drive to the south side of town.

Ferris shook his head. “Can you pull some strings to upgrade me to flying the plane?” This was definitely a joke. He knew how to fly jets and small personal craft. Not commercial airliners. “Anything short of me in the cockpit makes me nervous.” If he thought really hard about it, he might realize it was a sort of PTSD. But Ferris had enough going on that he just assumed it was a general dislike of not being in control and left it at that.
The notion of a vineyard didn't pull any flags. Even knowing she preferred whiskey, he assumed either she wanted some other drink or knew someone or something else. “If we visit your old home, visit however you like,” he confirmed. Seemed obvious to him, but he too had no desire to see the people he left behind. So he wouldn't press.
He buckled up and set the leftovers on the floor and leaned the seat back slightly, getting comfortable. He closed his eyes. If not for the fact he knew Darcy would freak out, he would ask for a drink when they got there. And she was right, if he drank too much, she wouldn't have to pester him to know how he was really feeling. He fiddled with the lighter in his pocket on the ride, making interested small talk about her truck and how his classes were going. Which wasn't well but largely because he was busy.
“It has been far too long since we watched a musical,” he commented as she parked at her place and he climbed out with a stretch. It was a little weird the temperature being warm enough to not warrant a jacket.
His crack about being upgraded to flying the plane made her laugh, she couldn’t help it. Not because she thought it was too far fetched of an idea for him to pilot a plane, she knew about his air force days. No, she laughed because she hadn’t been expecting him to say that and honestly; she would much rather be on a plane he was piloting. “I’m good; but I don’t think I’m that good.” She managed out at last after her laughter subsided. “Well, if it helps any I’ll be sitting right there with you.” She offered with a slight shrug, keeping her gaze on the road as she made the drive through town.
Try as they might to just carry on with casual conversation, Darcy was very aware of the way her fiddled with a lighter in his pocket. If not for her heightened sense of hearing; she wouldn’t have truly noticed. It was unsettling, something seemed to be eating at him and she just couldn’t quite get him to spit it out.
It didn’t take long for them to be pulling up and parking in her little gravel ‘driveway’. A soft smile pulled at her lips at his mention of a musical, slipping out of her seat and closing the door to the truck. “You have a point there. But if we’re watching one, you’re picking this time. I picked the last time.” She insisted with a playful wink as she headed up the steps of her porch and unlocked her front door.

Ferris smiled slightly. She laughed, but he wasn't joking. Not that he minded too much. He liked hearing Darcy laugh, even if it was st his expense. And to be fair, he had confessed to crashing a plane once to her so maybe that was why she laughed. "I don't know if it will, but thanks," he allowed. It wasn't that he got motion sick or had a problem with turbulence or altitude. It was a co tool issue. One he doubted Darcy would help him with. "I made it to Vancouver and back, after all," he noted. Even if he had spent the day before on both ends nauseous and unable to eat or sleep.
He wanted to talk to Darcy. But having tested the waters with his news about Valkyrie, he thought maybe the other bit could wait a day. Only he wasn't sure he had a day. He had barely spent a night at his apartment since she let him leave. Because at least at the firehouse he wasn't alone. He'd claimed his heat was out, but it was warm now.
He climbed out of her truck and closed the door behind him, forcing himself not to pull out another cigarette. He was okay. Or close enough to okay. He shrugged. "Honestly not really sure. Anything that fits the mood is all about romance." Which was the problem. He followed Darcy inside and took his shoes off at the door. It wasn't until he was standing in the doorway that he remembered the pharmacy she had here and last time...maybe this was a bad idea.
"Looks great in here," he said, looking over the maps and pictures on the grey-blue walls. "Much better than the snowstorm before," he added, moving to sit down on the couch. He almost immediately stretched out with a groan. "It's comfy, I guess."
“If not, we can always take shots.” Okay, so it wasn’t a ‘foolproof’ option, but it was something. Whatever would help him relax, short of asking if he can fly the plane. She might have connections, but she didn’t have access to a private plane… not currently anyway. Besides, she wasn’t trying to insult the Alpha, not when he was so graciously trying to be accommodating for her trip. “Hey, that’s right. You’ve got this, barring delays and issues from the weather; it should only be about a ten hour flight.” She said with a slight shrug,
Still standing at her bar, Darcy shook her head with a chuckle. “What’s wrong with a romance? So long as the storyline is decent and not too vomit inducing; I’m game…” She untied the laces on her black boots and pulled them off, her eyes moving to follow him as he made himself comfortable on her couch and complimented the room. “Thanks, it definitely makes me feel a lot more settled than than before.” She admitted with a grin, looking around the room as she moved to put the boots in her bedroom closet. The same place her little ‘home pharmacy’ was still tucked away since the last time Ferris had been there.
“Besides, I promise not to tease you for enjoying a musical romance… not in front of people at least.” Darcy returned from the hallway and gave a playful wink, moving to grab a bottle of water from her fridge. Her bar, which was usually stocked with several bottles in various stage of consumption; surprisingly only had three bottles, two were about half full and the last was nearly empty. They were most definitely in Darcy’s home; but that did not look like Darcy’s typically well stocked selection of alcohol. She hadn’t been kidding when she said she’d been cutting back. Though, she wasn’t sure how long that progress would last.
Darcy sauntered into the living room and tossed the remote to him. “Go ahead and pick something to watch.” She took another drink from her bottle of water before twisting the lid shut and setting it on the table before moving to join him on the couch. She knew she shouldn’t, but she couldn’t help it. She craved his closeness… she craved him. Even if it was just being near him. So, without waiting for an invitation; she eased herself down on the couch, lifting his arm to be around her, her back pressed to his front. “Incase it’s not glaringly obvious; I’ve missed hanging out with you. So pick whatever you want to watch, I’m just glad you’re here.”

"I've never drank on a flight," he said with an amused snort. He'd never thought of drinking when anxious to calm down, but granted, he didn't do anxious all that often. There were a few select places that did that for him and he avoided them as much as possible. Any other time, that internal engine took over and by the time he could face anything he had experienced with it like normal, things had calmed down and he pushed them away easily enough. "Also never actually thrown up on a plane while in the air, so let's keep it that way and I'll just get a water." But there was still a fraction of a smile there. "Especially for ten hours, do not remind me. Seriously." Despite his level tone the entire conversation, he felt the need to add that last word, because he knew sometimes he could seem to be joking.
Her suggestion that there was nothing wrong with a romances in this particular moment made his brow furrow. But he didn't say anything, letting the conversation drift to the paint and then back. "We've watched Phantom together; I don't think you can tease me over anything harder than that." It might not be the most flamboyant musical out there, but it was heavy on the dramatics. Very heavy on the dramatics. He did find it funny she insisted she would tease him to his face in private. That was par for the course with the feisty werewolf.
His grey eyes followed her to the kitchen as Ferris pulled his wallet, keys, cigarettes and lighter from his pants pockets and set them on the side table so he could stretch out without stabbing himself. Her lack of a full bar was a bit surprising. It was strange to see her kitchen had a tile backsplash. He'd not seen that before. He caught the remote in his fingers and turned on the TV, navigating through streaming services to find something he felt interested enough to watch. Except he wasn't interested in much of anything but the pressure to find something mounted.
Before he could move to make her more space, Darcy was pressed up against him. Her legs resting on his, her hair tickling his chin, her head on his chest, wrapping his arm around her in a forced but welcomed embrace. He was surprised for a moment and then let out a breath and relaxed. It was impossible to tell her just how much he needed physical reassurance. Specifically, from her. He shouldn't want anything and even if he did, he should want it from Valkyrie. Which was also true. But Darcy was comfortable. She was safe and she was always going to be there.
So why was he so afraid to tell her?
He swallowed as she casually informed him she was glad for his continued existence and wanted to be close. She made it seem so easy. "I missed hanging out with you too," he breathed. He settled on Footloose. Not because he particularly liked the film, but because he didn't want to keep searching through films.
That he hadn’t ever drank on a flight wasn’t exactly shocking, but she did find it amusing. She was the opposite. She wasn’t afraid of flying, she just got bored and restless. So drinking helped distract her. Though, she couldn’t help but be relieved he would be on the flight with her. It was odd. He could both excite her to no end -even when she wasn’t in heat- and calm her with his presence. It didn’t make a bit of sense to her at first, but coming to terms with her feelings toward him and understanding the imprint bond definitely helped clarify some things. “Oh, yeah just water for you then.” She said with a gentle shake of her head, she couldn’t remember the last time alcohol made her sick. Namely; because she didn’t usually drink to that point. Darcy gently held up her hands in surrender as she nodded. “No worries there. I’m hoping to thoroughly exhaust myself with hikes prior to the flight so that I can sleep on the plane.”
While she might not have made a habit of flying, preferring to keep her travels by foot or motor vehicle; sometimes flights were necessary. Though, she would have preferred a boat. But sadly; that would have taken too long. And this wasn’t a trip for leisure.
With her focus on removing her shoes, she hadn’t noticed his brow furrow on the topic of a movie genre, and being that he didn’t say anything more on it; she didn’t either. Friends didn’t make a big deal about the movies genre or read into anything. It was just a movie. Besides, statistically speaking; action movies were the ones to worry about. As they got the adrenaline pumping and led to other things happening. And movies with a romantic theme didn’t really have much of an impact of the shewolf. They were cheesy and easy to laugh at, strictly for entertainment; not something she watched and swooned over. “I mean… you do have a point there.” She teased with a grin.
While there was a moment of hesitation in her breathing as she made herself comfortable against him, the released breath as he relaxed helped ease any concern she had that she shouldn’t have just joined him the way she had. But honestly; she was tired of trying to act like she didn’t need this closeness with him. He was her best friend, and there was no harm in cuddling up to him on the couch. She could behave. Especially if behaving meant she got to enjoy closer proximity to him. She let her fingers gently trace along his arm as he responded and she smiled softly. “Well, I think we should try at the very least to make time for a movie night once a month. Or maybe a game night.” Okay, so she had missed him… a lot. And something about his scent made her feel like he needed the closeness as much as she did.

Ferris had never slept on a plane either. He'd tried, but never managed it. He wouldn't begrudge Darcy whatever she had to do to get through a ten-hour flight.
There wasn't likely a movie available to watch right now that would get him excited enough to be in the mood for sex. Not that he didn't want to be interested, but…well…he just felt uncomfortable. He let his arm settle around her a bit more naturally though. This he could handle. Darcy was so comfortable and fit so well against him.
He forced a chuckle at the idea of organized movie night. But…he did like it. He even shifted to grab his phone, unlocked it and handed it to her. “Here. Pick the next movie night then,” he said firmly. So that was a bit unlike him but he had been drinking. “Games not so much,” he admitted. He would play but esp3cially with just two people he wasn't so interested.
Ferris’ gaze drifted to the tv and the movie, soaking in his friend's closeness more than the film.
As much as his presence, and scent excited her and made it difficult to focus on anything, Darcy wasn’t oblivious to something being up. As much as he seemed to ‘relax’ with her on the couch; she could tell he wasn’t quite comfortable. She let out an easy exhale and raised a brow slightly -despite knowing he couldn’t see the action- when he not only grabbed his phone, but handed it to her to pick a night that would work.
“Oh, okay. Sure, and I’m gonna hold you to it… barring any town emergencies that might keep you busy.” She teased with a smirk, opening the calendar and glancing over the days before jokingly pointing to the next day. “I’m only joking, how about in two weeks?” She asked, slightly shifting so she could see his face and-
Fuck.
Why did looking at those grey eyes make her heart race in her chest? It wasn’t fair. She fought off the blush that threatened to take her cheeks as she turned her gaze back to his phone and tapped on the day. “Movie it is then… I’ll even pick the movie, you just gotta show up.” She offered as she began to add an ‘appointment’ for the day selected. But her eyes definitely fought to stay on the screen as she did.
“My place or yours?” She asked, letting her head rest more easily against his chest. Sure she didn’t need the closeness to hear his steady heartbeat, but she did enjoy it.

Ferris snorted. "'Barring any town emergencies,'" he repeated in agreement. Which was a drastic difference from the conversation they're had outside the urgent care. He certainly would try to be more careful but...it was hard to be careful when his job was to step in and help other people during a time of crisis. Whatever kind it was. But...even he hoped there wouldn't be any town emergencies any time soon.
And then Darcy said she was just joking, and he felt slightly embarrassed he hadn't caught on to that. "Sounds great," he said. To be honestly the man had no idea without looking at his calendar if he had anything going on two weeks from now. But he was also entirely sure the calendar on his phone was largely empty since he didn't get out much. Just another reason he was annoyed at himself for not reaching out sooner.
If not for her curls brushing up against him and tickling his nose so he had to fight back sneezing, he wouldn't have noticed her looking at him. "I think I can do that," he said, repositioning his arm to help hold Darcy more securely on the couch as she shifted around. "Your place." That was easy. At least right now. Though he did hope things calmed down for him around his apartment. He missed the guitars.
this was the part where he should make some stupid joke about inviting himself over. Or about sex. Because sure, they were friends. But they were still fuck buddies. Or at least, he wanted her to know that was still okay if that was what she wanted. He wouldn't judge. But Ferris felt like saying anything on that topic was dangerous and he had come here to relax. And watch a movie. And make even talk to Darcy about it since he'd sort of promised her he would talk if things got...tough. But he was still pretty sure he would be okay. He wanted to ask for a drink but that sounded like a cry for help.
Who was he kidding, he'd already had three more shots than usual. "What have you got to drink?"
Of course, at the mention of ‘town emergencies’, Darcy could feel a a knot forming in her stomach. Trust her to end up imprinting the n someone who’s constantly putting his life on the line for others. And she shouldn’t even be mad at him for it, though it did happen, because it was so fucking noble of him. She was curious to know if his depression and history with suicidal thoughts helped in his choice of career. She highly doubted it. Ferris genuinely cared about his work and his crew. It was just another one of his winning traits.
“Okay… so in two weeks, my place… say around seven or eight?” Dark eyes flitted from the screen where she’d been focused on her thumbs tapping away the calendar event, to his face once again with a slightly raised brow.
It was difficult being close to him at times. She had to resist the urge to just start trailing kisses up his neck and along his jaw. Especially when all she could think about is how good he smelled. Though, there was still something off in his scent that she couldn’t quite figure out. And it was that slight change that kept her grounded and in check.
His inquiry about what she had to drink was just another thing that let her know he wasn’t as ‘okay’ as he was making himself out to be. She hummed slightly as she handed his phone back to him and begrudgingly extricated herself from both him and the couch as she walked over to her scarcely stocked bar. While that was extremely out of character for her, she wasn’t going to comment on it. She had a few rough days where the alcohol won, but at least she wasn’t replenishing the finished bottles like she used to. Hell, she ran into one of the liquor store clerks while out shopping and he actually asked if she was doing alright because he hadn’t seen her in a minute. When the liquor store clerks knew you by name and drink; you definitely had a drinking problem.
Darcy glanced over the labels. “Okay, so I’ve got some Johnny Walker that’s got about half of it left, some Maker’s Mark that’s nearly gone and some Jim Beam.” She said as she looked back toward the couch and then chuckled. “Unless you meant something without alcohol, in which case I have water, milk and lemonade.” Darcy wasn’t one to typically keeps sodas stocked in her fridge, preferring to drinks her calories in alcohol.

"Eight or night?" He suggested. He worked until 8pm two weeks from now. Just like today. Nine would give him time to change and shower and try to function normally. Hopefully more normally than tonight. He accepted his phone back and leaned over to put it back on the table before laying pack
While he knew she would get up, it was hard to ignore that desire to stay close. To either pull Darcy down or follow her. But at the same time, he wasn't sure either was a good idea, so he let the moment come and go.
His gaze moved between her in the kitchen to the tv and back. "Beam," he said. Largely because he had had it before and knew what he was getting into. His reply made it very swear he unhappy. Enough that even he heard it in his voice. He had to pull himself together. "Now come over hear and sit with me."
“Lets call it at nine, that way you can change and such after work. And I can get all the snacks and such together.” She offered with a nod, already making a mental note to herself to place orders in advance on food so she wouldn’t have to cook. It wasn’t that she couldn’t cook, but she didn’t typically feel like cooking after work. Especially as peak season was approaching for the guided trail tours.
Darcy knew he had already had more than he typically drank in one sitting, so that he was asking for another drink, it was clear she was right in her earlier assumption that something was off with him. But, she relented. “Okay, be right there.” Shaking her head with an amused smile at him as she grabbed a glass cup and the bottle of Jim Beam, before returning to the living room. “Here you go, wasn’t sure if you wanted the bottle or a glass, so I brought both.” She set them down with a flourish and sat on the edge on the cushion so he could sit up if he was ready to have his drink.

"Great," he rumbled. He didn't sound d like it, but he was looking forward to it. And ideally meeting up before that more casually. Two weeks was a while. But he supposed he could manage if she could. Ferris was rather terrible at keeping up with friends. Especially when he was in his head about something. "I feel like you're doing all the work. I can bring something?"
He stretched again on the couch, doing his best to watch the movie rather than just look at the TV. But it was really just there for white noise so he wasn't thinking about anything. He watched Darcy pour a single glass and then bring the bottle. He just assumed it was for her, considering the first time they were drinking in his apartment and she downed most of a bottle.
When she said it was for him, he wasn't sure what to say for a moment. Apparently, he was really obvious. For the guy who had one, maybe 2 drinks normally, he was already at twice his usual. Maybe he thought she wouldn't have noticed. But of course she was paying attention. It was almost as if Darcy could read his mind. Or, since she said werewolves couldn't do that, like she was picking up on something about his scent that was apparently a cry for help. Like that time up on the look out tower when he was staring down into the darkness below and she'd poked him gently. He hadn't said anything then. And he didn't imagine he would say anything now. But it proved she was paying more attention to him than he deserved.
"Thanks," he said, pulling himself more upright and turning so he was seated almost normally, but his back against the arm of the sofa and legs on the cushions. It gave him the ability to drink and her plenty of room with him on the couch. Ferris leaned over and picked up the glass, trying not to make eye contact with the bottle.
While having set plans for two weeks out was great, Darcy would be lying if she said she wasn’t hoping to see him more between now and then. But then again, if he still needed space she wasn’t going to insist otherwise… though honestly, she was going to need to find hobbies to fill her time so she didn’t just sit around moping. “That’s totally up to you, why don’t you bring a favorite snack or something?” Unable to hold back a grin as she had the mind of a teenager apparently and was suddenly thinking of how he was the best snack in her opinion.
Fuck, she was a mess.
Okay, so perhaps it was rather obvious how much she paid attention to him. She found out where he lived by following his scent through town, for fuck’s sake! She definitely paid close attention to him, even if he didn’t quite realize it. Sure, she might try to hold back and ignore just how intense her feelings for him were; but that didn’t mean it was easy. It was a lot like when you put a phone on silent; the notifications still were all there, just not announcing themselves so persistently. Though, she had a feeling she occasionally wore her feelings quite obviously on her face. She’d have to work on that.
Darcy watched him for a moment, unable to help but grin slightly as he adjusted his position on the couch. Watched him pick up the glass and suddenly she didn’t care if she was crossing any invisible lines anymore. Something was not okay, and she needed him to talk to her about it.
So, without any explanation or invitation; Darcy stood and then moved herself to straddle his legs and sit to where she could face him. She hugged herself to his chest silently for a moment before letting out a soft breath. “So… do you wanna talk about it, or should I wait for you to get a little more alcohol in you?”
