03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
Ferris' New Years resolution, as always, was to cut back on smoking. Sure, stopping altogether would be ideal, but he knew how to set reasonable goals for himself and after failing to quite cold turkey twice, he had a feeling maybe that wasn't the best call for him. Probably too it depended on the people and support and what other things he could find to help offset his need for a nicotine fix and the slight dopamine hits.
Presently, he was down to two smokes a day. the first of the day was sometime around breakfast. On his off days, that looked like an early morning jog, a shower (today he managed to pull himself together enough to shave), some eggs and rice, and a smoke. He didn't like smoking in his apartment. Not that his clothes and place didn't smell like smoke, but even he noticed the smell when he smoked indoors. Typically, he found a spot out back of the apartment building where he could stay out of peoples' way and not incur too much judgement. But it was cold and the parking lot was covered in snow and rather than slip on his ass or freeze, he leaned against the brick in one of the covered walkways, lighting up and taking a relieved deep breath of smoke.
He didn't have riding lessons these days, but he figured he would take his truck over to the station and have one of the crew help him attach the plow so he could clear some of the side streets and drives out to the country homes later this morning.

In all her time of living in Sweetwater and dealing with the harsh winters, one might think Halah would have gotten used to it, or would have at least invested in a better pair of winter boots. Or really any shoe with a better grip than that of her typical heels, flats and sandals. Especially for having to deal with the stairs at the apartment complex. The grounds keeper did their best to salt and tend to things, but it wasn’t really his fault she didn’t make smarter purchases when it came to her shoes.
She locked the apartment door and tucked the keys into her pocket, she gave a soft smile and nod to a man smoking in one of the covered walkways. She wasn’t opposed to meeting her neighbors, but she had already started her way to the stairs and didn’t want to backtrack. At least she was dressed appropriately for the weather, despite her flats.
So it wasn’t all that surprising when the wet steps caused her to slip. Try as she might to grip the railing, she wasn’t quite paying attention and when her foot slipped, she took the last three steps on her ass before landing a bit awkwardly at the base of the stairs, clothes near immediately taking on the water from the melted snow around the walkway.
“Well this is just perfect.” Hal muttered under her breath as she rubbed her lower back. More embarrassed to realize she absolutely fallen within sight of the man outside smoking. And now her jeans were soaked.

He nodded to the woman from the 200s on the other end of the complex. He'd seen her in passing a few times, considering how long each of them had been here. Something with and H. Hannah? He didn't remember, they hadn't exactly met, just some laundry and overheard phone conversations and passing on the stairs. Ferris didn't know too many of his neighbors, if he was being honest. He wasn't home often, and when he was, he was either asleep, playing video games, playing guitar, or staring up at the ceiling. He probably knew more apartment residents from the few times he had been here for alarm calls than he had from actually saying hello.
The woman looked like she was more ready for a summer jog than the snow. Hopefully she didn't slip on the stairs in those shoes.
He watched her start down the exterior stairs and then only a second later the sound of her foot catching. He was already moving to the railing as he watched her bounced down the last few on her round ass. Well, at least she hadn't cracked open her head. He allowed himself a small chuckle around his cigarette knowing she was mostly alright. In one piece anyway. Still...he had got up out of concern and he still felt that way. Ferris rounded the walkway and took the stairs a lot more easily and confidently in his boots. "You alright?" He asked, around his smoke, offering her a hand up.

Hal wasn’t quite concerned with being hurt from the fall, though she’d fully expect to be a bit more than sore for a few days. That would definitely throw a wrench in any of her plans for fun. Maybe she’d just take a few days to herself then, she could read, maybe call her mother and catch up. All of which sounded so boring in comparison to calling up one of her playthings. Still, the last step definitely bruised her tailbone.
She looked up at the offered hand and accepted with an appreciative smile. “I do believe my pride is bruised more than my ass.” She said with a soft chuckle, her dark hair still pinned in a half-up half-down style, and while her jeans definitely were soaked now, her black coat and purple button-up shirt were still fine. She ran her black manicured nails over her coat, patting to ensure it wasn’t too wet. “Not exactly how I prefer to meet my neighbors, but I suppose it works. I’m Halah.” She offered her right hand to shake.

Ferris hauled the woman up to her feet and while he almost let go of her hand, he didn't quite, just to make sure she had some point of balance in case she had really hurt something. Once she let go of his hand, he would drop his arm.
With an apologetic expression, he pulled the cigarette from his lips and shifted so he could breathe out not directly in her face. He chuckled softly. "That's a relief." Did he mean that sincerely or...? "You might want to rethink your footwear, Halah," he suggested, looking down at her shoes and then up again, though the way she pat down her coat was distracting.
"Ferris," he added, sliding his hands in his pockets. "You need some ice or anything?" He asked with concern. Yes, he knew there was ice and literal snow all around them. That was the point. It was funny. His apartment was just at the top of the steps to grab something, but since she was headed out, he figured she was in a hurry and say no.

He didn’t seem to have any issue helping her to her feet, he was strong. She gave a nod as she looked to her shoes with a shrug. “I seem to forget the need for a decent pair of winter boots, I’ll have to get some before I fall again.” She teased with a gentle chuckle, and then winced slightly as her hand patted her right front pocket.
Ferris. Wasn’t that the fire chief’s name? Hal looked him over and then realized that was where else she’d seen him, in the paper. Usually in his fire safety gear. “Wow, cute and funny.” Hal laughed a little with a shake of her head as she reached in her pocket for her keys and frowned a little she’d have a bruise from her keys jabbing her hip as she fell. “Ferris, like Sweetwater’s fire chief?”
The idea of wet jeans while she worked was not appealing at all. So she’d just skip out on her morning coffee. Lovely. But her comfort was much more important than her being caffeinated. “I’ll pass on the ice, but do you think you could help me back to my place? I need to change before I catch a cold wearing these all day.” Perhaps it was simply out of habit, but her voice took on a more melodic tone as her request.

She called him cute and he had to re-evaluate if she was also cute. But that wasn't the word that came to mind when looking at Halah. She wasn't quite the same exotic bird that Valkyrie was, but her sharp features meant he more than liked looking. Halah was...alluring. Between her looks and her accent that he couldn't place and the tight jeans...
Then Ferris realized she had also called him funny. That was arguably more distracting. He offered a small, impressed smile. "Most people would call be an ass for that," he pointed out. "Yeah," he said, not really surprised she knew his profession more readily than he knew hers.
He'd taken a step back to take in another breath of smoke and watch that and the steam of his breath float off on the faint breeze. His initial look was curious, as she asked him to help her back to her place. It was only a flight of stairs with a railing that she should have used the first time and then down the covered walkway, but...he supposed she had a point about the wet clothes. So he was a sap for a damsel (or really anyone) in distress. He shrugged. "You need a hand up or just a spotter?"

Hal wasn’t exactly shy when in came to, well; really anything. But she still took such delight in being checked out. And then he gave her a small impressed smile and she gently shrugged her shoulders. “My, my; sounds like you’re hanging out with the wrong crowd.” She teased with playful click of her tongue.
“That’s why you look so familiar. I like to keep up with the town papers at the library.” She admitted with a nod, then watched as he stepped back to breath in form his cigarette and appeared to consider her request. “Normally I might just ask for a spotter, but a hand might held ensure I don’t have the misfortune of stumbling again.” Hal said with a nod, not even slightly embarrassed to be asking for his assistance.
“Shall I take the lead?” She asked with a raised brow.

Ferris only shrugged. He didn't hang out with that many people he really cared about and he liked them enough that they could call him an ass and that was normal. He got the feeling she was flirting with him, casually at least.
"And you're at the library because you're...a librarian?" He guessed. Or maybe an audiophile, he supposed. He didn't have the look of a classic librarian, but he could be a sexy librarian. Especially with how she spoke, between the foreign accent and her fancy words. Yeah, librarian fit.
Although a little disappointed he wouldn't get to watch her ass walk up the stairs, Halah had a point. The railing hadn't done her much good on the way down, after all, so why suspect using it at all would do any good. "Sure," the firefighter said. He took another long pull from his cigarette before walking over to the nearby disposal to throw it out. He walked back to the stairs and held out his hand to the woman. "Lead the way," he said, walking a stair behind her on the other side of the steps while he offered his support.

Hal fought off the urge to shiver. Truth be told, she enjoyed the cold much more than she did the heat. But that didn’t mean she dressed well for it. At least not her footwear. She raised a brow at his question, lips pulling into a smile as she nodded.
“Yes, actually.” She glanced back at him with a nod, getting prepared to start up the stairs once again. Though not without moving to accept the aid offered to her in the form of his hand. He had really nice hands.
Hal made sure to take much more measured steps on her way back up, not trying to take yet another tumble down the stairs. She eased her way to the top and was thankful that the walkways were at least covered. “Would I be imposing too much to ask for a spotter on the way back down the stairs after I change?” Hal turned to ask with a raised brow, not having released his hand yet. Realizing this, she glanced at his hand for a moment and then let go with a soft smile as she raised her brow. “You could come in for coffee so you’re not waiting outside.” Her voice once again taking on a more melodic tone.

Ferris relinquished Halah's hand at the top of the stairs, though he noticed she didn't seem so eager to let go. She seemed more than a little unsettled over her fall, what with how careful she was going back up. Of course, that seemed mostly her own fault with her choice of clothes and footwear.
He shrugged again and put his hands in his pockets to keep warm. "Long as you promise to put on appropriate shoes," he said, though he meant it to be teasing. Sort of.
Coffee didn't do much for Ferris. He drank it from time to time, but the flavor wasn't something he liked. He didn't own a coffee maker and buying it every morning would be too expensive and eat into his cigarette money. But like she said, it was cold out. He'd much rather be inside. But at his place, not her apartment. Still... "Alright, I guess," he finally admitted. Getting to know his neighbors wasn't so terrible, especially since she seemed quite shaken up.

“I will absolutely change my shoes, promise.” Hal couldn’t fight the slight grin that pulled across her lips as she looked back toward him and even shot a playful wink. She definitely would swap her shoes, though she was more concerns with the wet jeans. Thankfully her coat was made for this sort of weather.
Hal stepped a little further down the covered walkway and stopped at her apartment’s door, flipping through her keys and finding the one for her apartment and glancing back to Ferris as she open the door and began to step inside. “Come on in, I promise I don’t bite.” She gave a playful wink as she stepped into the apartment and slid out of her coat, laying it across the coffee table as she walked in. She stepped through the living room and into the kitchen space, pushing the ‘on’ button to her coffee pot.
”It’ll only take a minute for the coffee to brew, it’ll probably beat me.” Hal teased with a smile as she stepped back toward the open section in the wall that separated the living room and her bedroom. No bedroom door in sight. Just the way she liked it.
“Cups are in the cabinet above the coffee maker.” Hal called out from her room as she unbuttoned her jeans and kicked off her shoes. She pushed down her jeans, having to push a little as she definitely enjoyed her jeans fitting tightly. Under the jeans the bottom half of a one piece lingerie set became visible. Clearly, the woman liked to add a little sexy flair to her daily attire. But then again, Hal hardly owned anything that wasn’t considered sexy.
The dark emerald green lace complimented her fair complexion, she stepped to the dresser, bending over to pick a new pair of jeans.

He followed to her apartment, noting the number. He knew surprisingly few of his neighbors. The science teacher was one. There were plenty of high school and college students... Plenty of people he knew could live here and he wouldn't have noticed, even after five years. He didn't get out much and the few "block parties" he had been working or chose to avoid. the only people that Ferris knew where they lived were his best friend and any home that had caught fire in the last five years. It was probably for the best when the Fire Chief didn't know your address.
Ferris closed the door behind him without looking at it. The first thing that struck him about Halah's apartment was just how...*light* everything was. It was a bit more compact than his place, and a different layout, but he noted all the similar furnishings. Same countertops, same flooring, same light switch covers. It was actually eerie, though more so because he realized he had never been in another apartment here. He should really get to know more of his neighbors.
"Thanks," he said a bit belatedly about the coffee and the cups, her words drawing his attention toward the bedroom only to realize he could see half the bedroom from here on account of the door being open. Correction: On account of there being no door. Specifically, he could see the half of the bedroom in which Halah was pulling down her tight soaked jeans to reveal sexy, dark green lingerie and Ferris had to wonder if that was normal. For her. Actually, was it normal for him to be standing here watching? No. It wasn't. He turned his attention to the coffee machine and stepped into the kitchen as it was the only place without line of sight on the woman's bedroom.
It became suddenly very obvious that Halah had invited him here for a reason and it wasn't the coffee. Even still, he opened the cabinet above the machine and pulled out a mug.

Okay, so Hal was very aware that she didn’t have a door to her bedroom, one of those ‘open floor plans’ with the exception of the bathroom. And even with knowing he could see her should he choose to look, that didn’t stop her or make her move. Hal didn’t mind anyone seeing her, she was quite comfortable with her body. She felt his gaze on her, but didn’t make any move to indicate she noticed.
Instead, she just thumbed through the jeans in the drawer and settled on another pair of dark wash denim. But even wait the pair of jeans picked out, Hal couldn’t help but wonder if she could sweet talk the fire chief into a little fun… if only just to see how strong of a will she was working with here. She hummed softly as she slid into the jeans, but now didn’t like how the shirt looked with this pair. She removed the shirt and tapped her chin, as she looked at the emerald green fitted lingerie. She added a cream colored sweater and then stepped to the doorway.
“The purple shirt didn’t work with the new jeans, but I feel like this just a bit too distracting for work.” She raised a brow as she looked at Ferris. “Definitely too cold for this weather.” Hal couldn’t help but shake her head with little chuckle as she walked past the kitchen toward the dryer in the little hallway, and sifted through a few sweaters as she hummed a little soft melody.

Ferrys was very glad the woman felt so safe and comfortable inviting a total stranger into her home. That was all well and good, he wasn't some creep who was going to stare. Certainly not the type to walk back there and press her down on the floor and take her for teasing him. It honestly alarmed him the thought crossed his mind. What the fuck was wrong with him? Coffee. Focus on the fucking coffee that you won't drink. He knew what the problem was. It was the suspicion that she was doing it on purpose. That Halah wanted him to look.
He watched long enough to see her thighs and the lace and the rest he kept behind him. He could control himself for both of them. The coffee was about halfway done when the woman stepped back out and spoke. He turned to look at Halah, finding her blessedly clothed, if in an entirely new outfit. "Didn't work...oh," Ferris realized too late she meant in a fashion way. He didn't really get fashion, but he supposed the sweater looked fine. "I think you look great." A little distraction never hurt anyone. As long as she was comfortable. "Might want another layer," he suggested more clothes rather than less, watching her move to the laundry area and continue to go through clothes. For a moment he wondered if she was just going to remove her current sweater then and there. He looked back at the coffee machine as it grumbled to a halt. He poured two mugs. "Do you take cream or sugar, Halah?"
