ELIJAH VANDERSON Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Species: Human Species Appearance: N/A. Occupation: Realtor, formerly an Antiquities dealer Residence: Vanderson Estate Age: 46 Birthday: March 20th Height: 6’2” Weight: 191 lbs Hair Color: Dirty Blonde Eye Color: Blue Sexual Orientation: Straight
Notable features: Generally sporting a neatly trimmed beard or five o’clock shadow
PERSONALITY
Likes: - His extensive collection of art or rare items - His privacy, though not at all opposed to paying someone to violate other’s privacy - Enjoying the power and influence afforded to him because of his name, wealth and position in the town - His children, they’re what he’s most proud of in his life, though he might not openly admit that to others
Dislikes: - The constant parties thrown by Siobhan - His trust being broken - Liars - Being out of control in situations and settings that should be manageable
Strengths: - He’s extremely professional and very charismatic - Intelligent - Very perceptive - Wealth and influence due to his position in the town and his family name
Weaknesses: - Alcoholism, he tries to keep this to himself, but over indulges a lot - His anger issues, His kids and personal life are near immediate triggers - Isn’t good at sharing his feelings or emotions - His kids, Elijah has a hard time telling them ‘no’
General personality: Elijah is your typical wealthy and sometime reclusive man. He’s very much about his work and antiquities and art collections, but those all pale in comparison to how much he loves his kids. But he’d never openly admit that, as he’s far too professional to ever be caught ‘gushing’ about his kids. Elijah enjoys his privacy and quiet, not often seen at the parties his wife is so fond of hosting. He’s charming, and a bit too comfortable flirting, though mostly it’s chalked up to him just being friendly and charismatic.
HISTORY
Education: Master’s Degree in Archaeology and a Bachelor’s in Business Years in Sweetwater: 38, with roughly 8 years collectively spent traveling for work or school Family Members: Parents: Charles Vanderson (DECEASED) & Irene Vanderson (NPC, 68) Siblings: Dominic "Nico" Vanderson (39) & ______ Vanderson (OPEN, male, 35-38) Wife: Siobhan Vanderson (OPEN, 42) Children: Price Vanderson (21), West Vanderson (OPEN, 20), Alexis Vanderson (18) & Claire Vanderson (NPC, 12)
General History: Elijah was fortunate to not only be born a Vanderson, but also their eldest son. Charles and Irene spared no expense and sent him to the best schools and introduced him to the most beneficial of people. It wasn’t until he was seven that his first sibling came along; Dominic "Nico" Vanderson . Nico and their youngest brother were closer in age, so Elijah focused more on his schooling and kept more of a civil interaction with his siblings.
Despite influence and wealth at his disposal, Elijah genuinely cared about his grades and how he did in school. So he worked hard to remain at the top of his class and even impressed his father when he received a free ride to the college of his choice due to his grades and proficiency in sports.
It was during his second year in college when he was introduced to Siobhan. She’s was beautiful, smart and from the ‘right sort of family’. The two began dating, and things were going nicely, even going so far as to get engaged before their second year together. Another two years after getting engaged Siobhan became pregnant, so at the behest of their families; they married in an intimate ceremony at the Vanderson Estate.
That year, the day before Christmas Siobhan gave birth to their eldest son, Price Vanderson . Price quickly became Elijah’s pride and joy. He made sure to take time off from his travels to be more available to his wife and son, during this first year especially, which resulted in Siobhan finding out she was pregnant with baby number two before Price was even walking. Sadly, Siobhan experienced some slight complications during her pregnancy and spent a good amount of time bed-ridden. So it wasn’t at all surprising when after giving birth to their second son West Vanderson; she developed a very severe case of postpartum depression. She couldn’t relate to her children and began to resent her husband for being gone for work. When Elijah realized what was going on, Siobhan was admitted to the hospital and kept for three months while they regulated her medication.
During this time Elijah moved the boys in with his parents at the family estate, along with their nanny. He took as much time away from his schooling and work to be as present ad he could be during their mother’s absence. When she returned, her attitude toward her boys had been fixed, but she still found herself resenting Elijah. Even more so when he insisted she stay with his family until she got ‘back into the swing of things’. Anytime he was home, they spent more time fighting and arguing than ever, resulting in Elijah losing his temper and breaking more than one valuable piece of art around the estate. It was at this time that Charles insisted his son seeking anger management classes in private. It was at this point in time that Elijah took to drinking more heavily and trying to spend more time away.
His times at home were mostly miserable when around Siobhan, so he spent the majority of his visits home just with the boys and his parents. Until one of his visits home Siobhan was acting much more friendly than she had in the previous year, but she also seemed to be plying him with copious amounts of alcohol. For the first time in nearly a year Elijah woke up in the same bed as his wife. He didn’t recall the events of the evening, but Siobhan seemed to be in good spirits with him so he just went with it. And about a month later Siobhan was announcing another pregnancy.
Elijah was swamped with travel during this pregnancy so it seemed to fly by, and before you know it; Siobhan was giving birth to their daughter Alexis Vanderson . Being this first female born to the Vanderson name in many years, Alexis was spoiled rotten by her grandparents and parents. Shortly after having her, Siobhan went back to being short with Elijah. The two seemed to only get along with they were in public, the rest of the time they either fought or ignored one another completely when they didn’t want to spend money replacing whatever they broke in the house. Things continued on like this for another few years.
Alexis was nearly five when Charles insisted the two seek marriage counseling, so they did. And while they began to be able to tolerate one another again, their intimacy never returned. And when Siobhan seemed intent on forcing their intimacy, Elijah found he could only find her enticing if he was completely inebriated or if they were arguing and having ‘hate-sex’. The later didn’t happen all that often though, so he stayed fairly intoxicated when he was home and she was pushing for intimacy.
Elijah set off on another trip for an auction of archaeological finds, when Siobhan informed him she was pregnant yet again. And even with him traveling, this one went by quickly and the timelines just didn’t make much sense to him. Siobhan claimed she went into preterm labor and the little girl, Claire Vanderson, was born premature. But every picture Elijah saw of her seemed healthy enough. This was the first time Elijah began to suspect his wife of infidelity.
Now, Elijah is the family representative for the Vanderson Family after the passing of Charles. He doesn’t travel as much for the rare antiquities and finds as he used to, opting to be more involved in the realty side of his family’s operations. Also focusing most of his attention on Price and keeping Alexis’ and West’s ventures out of the papers or public eye. He’s also recently hired a private investigator to gather the proof of his wife’s infidelity, while also considering getting a paternity test done for Claire, who definitely does not take after him at all.
