PERSONALITY
Likes: Women, well made cocktails, getting high, tattoos, the thrill of an adrenaline rush, ghost stories, true crime, loud music, art, motorcycles Dislikes: Politics/politicians, patriarchy/sexism, cats, being drunk Strengths: Independent, motivated, physically fit and strong, drawing Weaknesses: Aggressive, driving in the snow, bad at keeping her opinions to herself, fears having too deep of feelings for someone
General personality: Bex is pretty much what you would expect by looking at her. She doesn't like to fit the mold of society or be who people thinks she ought to be. She values individuality and the ability to be proudly who you want to be. Unless you want to be a serial killer, in which you should die and go to hell. She is loud and fun, loves to party, and has a smile that draws people in spite of her more intimidating appearance. She loves working at the bar and hearing people's stories. She really loves turning down the advances of men as creatively as she can. If you have a ghost story or true crime story to talk about, she'll easily engage with you for hours. While she has an art degree she doesn't use it but it's not uncommon to find her doodling on a napkin or the corner of a paper absently. While she is not afraid to be openly flirty with women, due to her past experiences she's afraid of gaining any real feelings for anybody.
HISTORY
Education: Bachelors in Fine Arts Years in Sweetwater: 0 (6 months) Family Members: Parents and older brother who still live in Florida
General History: You'd never expect that back when she was a child Bex, actually Rebecca, was nearly always in dresses and bows with her hair curled and had a fear of getting dirty. Of course that mostly had to do with the wishes of her parents and who they imagined their daughter to be one day. But when she was in her early teens she finally started to push back. She hated wearing dresses. She wanted to go motorbiking, four-wheeling, and camping. Her mother was the most disappointed. Bex was her only daughter and she wanted to do all the girly things with her. Bex didn't want to disappoint her but she couldn't keep living a lie.
When she finally came out to her parents at 18 that she was gay, well it only increased the strain between them. They tried to be supportive but it was challenging for them. In order to not completely destroy their relationship, she moved out of the house and saw them only for Sunday dinners. Several years later, when Bex brought home a girl from college, Ali, her parents were surprisingly supportive and kind to her girlfriend. Ali was everything to Bex. She was charismatic and sweet. She was unafraid to be who she was and she never hesitated to steal a kiss regardless of where they were. She made Bex feel like she was everything that she needed to be. They dated for 7 years and had even talked about getting married.
[TRIGGER WARNING] But tragedy would be their undoing. They went to a popular gay club in Miami, one they had been to countless times before. This time would change Bex's life forever. An anti-gay shooter made their way into the club and shot nearly 20 people. 8 died. Including Ali. Bex didn't have a scratch on her, something that would only increase her guilt for having survived.
Devasted and depressed, Bex bought an airstream and left home, traveling around the country for a few years. She explored places she'd never seen before, picked up odd jobs along the way, even lingered in some places for a few months at a time. Eventually she found herself in Sweetwater and the vibe of the town has kept her there for longer than anywhere else. Her airstream is parked at the motel where she has been staying. She could save money by just staying in the airstream, but it was starting to feel cramped. She still has one foot out the door, ready to start feeling that ache to get back on the road. How long will it take until she decides it's time to move on? OOC
