General personality: When you first meet Delaney, sometimes called Lainey, she came definitely come across as pretty shy. She doesn't like to draw attention to herself and gets nervous meeting new people. As you get to know her she slowly blossoms like a flower and once she's comfortable with you then her real personality comes out. She can be incredibly goofy and highly energetic. She has dance parties at home in her underwear and loves to make people laugh, even if it's just at her silly antics.
HISTORY
Education: HS sophomore, taking a few SWCC classes at night and online Years in Sweetwater: 12 Family Members: Only child to Jordan (human) and Naomi (siren) Arquette
General History: Delaney and her parents moved to Sweetwater when she was 7 years old. Her parents had wanted more children but had struggled with infertility and Delaney was their miracle baby. They managed to get pregnant once before Delaney and once after but it had ended quickly in miscarriage. So instead they focused all their attention on their only child. Too much attention.
They pushed her to excel in school and Delaney didn't usually mind. She liked learned and did well in school, enjoying most subjects. Her parents were very aware of not only her grades and extracurricular activities but also who each of Delaney's friends were. She was not allowed to date at all during high school and her parents still would rather her focus on school than boys.
She was pretty sheltered as a child and never was daring enough to really push back or go against her parents wishes. She is already working on a couple of college classes while in high school, getting a head start on her college credits.
The biggest secret they have in their family is that Naomi and Delaney are both sirens. Even her father is unaware of this as Naomi feels strongly about keeping it a secret, even from him, afraid he might believe that she coerced him into marriage with her siren song. She nurtured Delaney in how to use her siren abilities as well as in keeping them secret.
