A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?

BETHANY LOCKLEAR K. Devery Jacobs
DETAILS
Species: Human Species Appearance: N/A. Occupation: High school junior, "Team Member" at General Store (stocking and receiving) Residence: Sunny Heights Age: 16 Birthday: July 11th Height: 5'2" Weight: 127 lbs Hair Color: Black Eye Color: Brown Sexual Orientation: Hetero
Notable features: Prominent scar across her chin. Several sloppily done tattoos, including a band of ink around her left arm and a coyote tattoo on her side.
PERSONALITY
Likes: Binging documentaries (particularly true crime and paranormal investigation), conspiracy theory podcasts (just for the laugh...right?), swimming in lakes and walking barefoot, walking through the empty town in the dead of a hot summer night, menthol cigarettes and cheap beer, irreverent jokes and good-natured teasing, animals of all kinds, 90s grunge music and punk, her camera (her most prized possession). Dislikes: Her father (if you can call him that) and authority in general, sitting still, phonies (to borrow a phrase from Catcher in the Rye, which she loves), getting dressed up, eating meat, the establishment and the wealthy people in it. Strengths: Wickedly witty, fiercely loyal, resourceful, independent, sticks up for the little guy. Weaknesses: Lacks follow through (disorganized), defiant with a horrible temper, thinks in black and white with no in-between, impossibly stubborn, holds a grudge.
General personality: Bethany is a textbook misfit. She's failed to fit any mold and is happy to keep it that way. Her deep insecurity is masked by a "fuck you" confidence that gives the world the middle finger. Bethany has always been the kid from the wrong side of the tracks, and at some point, she decided to act accordingly. If people cross her or those she cares about, she's not afraid to take things from zero to sixty and throwdown (violence is, contrary to popular belief, an option).
If you're one of the people she's adopted as part of her tribe, you will start to see her softer side. Bethany is highly attuned to the moods and needs of the people she cares about and will go to hell and back to see that they have what they need to be safe and happy. She will pick you up when you're down, even if she has to drag you up by the ears. She's good with kids and animals, treating both with gentle patience. Bethany is also a daydreamer; she's always coming up with crazy ideas, making big plans, and cracking weird jokes. Too often, the world falls short of how she imagines it, which makes Sweetwater an incredibly frustrating place to be.
HISTORY
Education: High school Years in Sweetwater: 8 Family Members:But parenting was far more complicated than he anticipated. Bethany was a traumatized child: mourning the loss of her grandmother, struggling to emerge from her mother’s neglect, and was heartbroken by her separation from her tribe. Hank didn’t ask for this, he’d mutter angrily in the heat of their explosive fights. He didn’t ask to be a father and certainly didn’t ask for a daughter as troublesome and ungrateful as Bethany.
The fighting continued. Bethany would push back and her father would push back even harder. Eventually, Hank threw up his hands, and decided that if Bethany wanted to run her own life she was welcome to it. Hank went back on the road, leaving thirteen-year-old Bethany to fend for herself. At first he’d only be gone for a couple of days, but the older she got, the days started to turn into weeks. He provided for her material needs—leaving money for food and a roof over her head—but nothing more. The only conditions were she 1) stayed in school 2) worked part-time to contribute to the household 3) didn’t get pregnant.
The emphasis was definitely on the third one.
Much to Hank’s surprise and relief, Bethany did pretty well living independently. She keeps up her grades (with the exception of math and science, cause fuck that) and works part-time at the general store. She even saved up enough to buy a camera that she takes with her everywhere she goes. Yes, she does have problems with authority and talks back to her teachers. Yes, she gets in fights every now and then—but only when people deserve it. But for the most part, Bethany is a bright kid just running the clock until she can leave this bullshit town behind.
Bethany’s dream is to become a journalist and photographer, traveling the world, capturing photos of people whose stories go untold. But for now, she’s stuck in Sweetwater, trying to make magic out of the mundane (or so she thinks).
