General personality: Marius is an old soul in a young person’s body. He’s always been that way, even from a young age he socialized with his books instead of his peers. Marius likes routine and structure, and takes comfort in his neat and orderly view of how things should be. The benefit of that is that he’s an idealist. He sees the best in people and thinks everyone has great potential. He’s religious, but not in a preachy way. For him, his faith is a personal roadmap for how he interacts in the world. Faith isn’t something he brings up in conversation, rather it is something that he acts out in his daily life. He values compassion for others above all. However Marius does have a tendency to be a little bit out of touch and inaccessible. He stays very close to his comfort zone - academic environments, discussing politics and philosophy. He could use someone who could help him loosen up a bit and take a little bit of risk.
HISTORY
Education: High school Years in Sweetwater: 2 Family Members: Emil Thomas Armstrong (father), Sharice Linette Armstrong (mother)
General History: Marius grew up the only son of a Baptist minister. They moved around a lot, particularly during the formative years of his life, and have recently settled in Sweetwater. He was a bright, dimpled, sweet and smiling child, cherished in particular by his mother, Sharice. In moving around a lot, Marius became very self sufficient. He liked books, reading and attending church. The church was always his home - the place his father lived and breathed and where all the people he loved would gather. Even though they moved around and were always meeting new people, no matter where they were he always had a home.
Three years ago, Marius’s father was diagnosed with ALS. ALS is a cruel, degenerative disease that attacks the body while leaving the mind intact. Sharice in particular was shattered by the news, but his father - true to form - handled it with grace and trust in God. As his condition began to worsen, the resettled to the town of Sweetwater - his mother’s childhood home - where she would better be able to care and provide for her family. Sharice is his caregiver who works part time as a secretary at the local church. Thankfully due to both his disability payments and military pension (Emil is ex-Army), they don’t hurt financially, but Emil’s health issues have definitely taken their emotional toll on both Sharice and Marius. Now more than ever, Marius struggles to make connections and come out of his shell, but desperately needs someone to reach out to him.
