03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
Sweetwater was established long ago by a gathering of families who wanted to move away from their city lives and relocate in the mountains. These five families sold all their possessions, used the money to buy hundreds of acres of land, and began building their mountain establishment with their bare hands. Over the centuries some have come (few have gone), but descendants of the founding families yet remain. While those of the founding families may not necessarily have occupations of importance to the town, their names alone associate them with the accomplishments of their ancestors, giving pull to their words and preferences.
Each founding family has a family representative, not necessarily the head, who is an adult that attends gatherings and speaks on behalf of the family (this is a canon position). The Family Reps gather every three months at a minimum to take care of Sweetwater business such as budget concerns, building permits, community complaints, and more.
*NOTE: None of the founding families have a lineage with any supernatural creatures so if you want a founding family member who is also a supernatural please plot out your idea with Lyla! ^.^
THE BARTLETT FAMILY The establishing Bartletts represented the agricultural front of the five. There aren't many rumors about them because they are a very what-you-see-is-what-you-get family. The Bartletts are known for owning a majority of the farms in Sweetwater, and most of them either work the land or prepare food in one fashion or another. They are the main suppliers of grain and dairy goods for the town. Two years ago Penny Bartlett, grandchild, disappeared for an entire month. People talk about the incident, but not to the faces of any Bartletts. The oldest surviving Bartletts have 8 adult children and various grandchildren.

THE HOLLIFIELD FAMILY The establishing Hollifields were the scholars of the five. Rumor has it that they can trace their lineage to Shakespeare, though there is no evidence for that. Their family is known for paying extra attention to all things education--school and books, to name two. They established the local newspaper that is still a central part of the town's community, they built and sustain the town's library, and the local school is named after them due to their generous monetary contributions. Shirley had 2 children from a previous marriage and grandchildren through them and together her and Charlie had 4 more children.

THE IRWIN FAMILY The establishing Irwins were the business gurus of the five. Rumor has it that they are wealthier than the Vanderson family, but they don't host extravagant parties nor do they talk money. Their family is known for running the town bank, the motel, and the general store; they lend to small businesses from their pockets, always gaining a percentage in return. They likely own a little part of every business in Sweetwater. The oldest surviving Irwins have 4 adult children and some grandchildren.
THE SANDERS FAMILY The establishing Sanders brought all knowledge and experience concerning governing communities to the five. Rumor has it, however, that though the family is all about law and legislation, more than one member of the family has been known to turn a blind eye when enough leverage is proffered. The Sanders are known for producing the most attorneys, sheriffs, and deputies. They are largely the mediators in general town conflict. The oldest surviving Sander has 3 adult children and some grandchildren.

THE VANDERSON FAMILY The establishing Vandersons were the wealthiest of the five, and that is still considered true to this day. Rumor has it that they hail from English royalty, though that has never been proven. Their family is known for possessing many fine, invaluable artifacts and jewelry, and their home is a mansion in the countryside of Sweetwater. They own real estate around the town, including the apartments, the shopping center buildings, and the stables. The Vandersons host numerous gatherings and celebrations, but despite always having people in their home they are extremely private--some would even say secretive. The oldest surviving Vanderson has 3 adult children and some grandchildren.
