General personality: Addison is one of those girls that gets forgotten. She has always made friends easily, but these friendships are fickle, fleeting things, never lasting past the shallow stuff. She’s the one that walks behind the group on the street, the one that gets invited last - if invited at all - and the one that can be gone for days without anyone noticing. You’ll never hear her complain though. The thought of burdening someone with her problems is sickening, so she bottles everything up and acts like there is nothing wrong. This may come from her desire to be liked, and to please everyone around her, but it more than likely comes from her mother, and the way she rules with an iron fist.
Addison is a deeply troubled young girl, having struggled with anorexia since she was 14, and her mother told her she was too fat to be a professional dancer. Ever since then, she wages war against her body: jogging 2 times day, dance practice as often as possible, and little more than an apple to fuel her. She is her own worst enemy, though her mother may well be a close second. Most people, however, will only ever see the bubbly outgoing young dancer who gets straight A’s, and is always available to help out a friend in need.[/ul]
HISTORY[/b] Student - Senior
Years in Sweetwater: Born and raised
Family Members: Vivian Feller - mother. Lionel Feller - father.
General History: The life of Addison Feller was nothing extraordinary.
She was born to Vivian and Lionel, a healthy chubby baby girl who they lovingly named Addison after Vivians’ favourite grandmother. Her childhood was as normal as it could be, though she was thrown into a pair of tights and ballet shoes almost as soon as she could walk. But she didn’t mind, she loved ballet.
Then came gymnastics. It was something she loathed, but she did it to please her mother. Before we get into that though, let’s backtrack.
To truly understand how Addison came to be the way she is, you need to know a bit about Vivian.
Vivian was a performer on Broadway - well, an extra, but she leaves that detail out. She only ever performed in one show (
Chicago) before she wound up getting knocked up by one of the stage hands.
Her mother was livid.
“That’s not how we do things, Vivian . . . I raised you better than this . . . A baby out of wedlock? Are you trying to send me to an early grave?!” Vivian had decided to raise her daughter differently. She would give her baby a voice, let her decide what she wanted to do, and support her no matter what. But, when little Addie said she wanted to learn how to play the violin, all that went out the window.
Vivian still clung to her dream of being on Broadway again - though Sweetwater and her body were a long way from New York. So, what better way to relive her glory days than to
shove share her dream with her daughter? Out came the ballet flats, and five hours a day dance practices.
Still, that wasn’t enough for Addison’s mom. Vivian had always wanted to try gymnastics, but her family never had the money for it. Cue Addison. Age 10 and she was seven years into dance, and three years into gymnastics.
Now back to Addison:
However, nothing Addison ever did was quite good enough for Vivian. Addison longed to hear that her mother was proud of her, but all she got was criticism. It became her driving force: surely the harder she worked, the more proud her mother would be.
Addison tried her best in school, and it paid off. She wasn’t naturally smart, but she worked hard and always brought home the top grades - even though her mother said school wasn’t gonna land her a lead role on Broadway. Addison had bigger dreams than Broadway though: genetic engineering. Her mother laughed at her.
At age 15, Addison’s world imploded.
Her father left, and her mother got
mean. Screaming matches could be heard down the street, doors slamming, glasses breaking, but neither of them acted as if anything was wrong in public. Then Vivian said three words that would send her daughter into a spiral.
“You’re getting fat.”Her diet became nothing but greens and lean protein. Carbs were banned from the house, and her mother monitored how much she was eating, and how often. Little did she know that this would lead to her daughters battle with anorexia.
The storm has settled between the two of them. She stays with her mother five days out of the week, and two days with her father (when he’s home). She battles her demons on her own, practicing her dance and gymnastic routines. Maybe, just maybe, her mother will be proud of her one day.
