03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
It was Saturday evening, the day after Blair had had detention. She was planning to meet up with some friends in an hour but was already dolled up and didn’t want to just hang out at home waiting so she had headed closer to their meeting place and was looking for something to entertain herself.
As she was passing the diner she happened to spot the motorcycle that she had seen Mr. Lear get on the day before. She smiled to herself and turned into the parking lot.
She checked herself in the rear view mirror, reapplied her bright red lipstick and made a smacking sound before stepping out of the car. She wore snug jeans and a crop top that showed a couple inches of inches of skin around her middle. Her hair was curled perfectly and worn down, resting on her shoulders.
She pulled her purse higher on her shoulder and stepped into the diner, looking around casually.
It was a Saturday evening, the day after King had had to run detention. He had slept in ridiculously late that morning, held basketball tryouts all afternoon, and was now kicking back with some friends having dinner. They were at Rosie's diner discussing where they would go after this--and what they would do.
"Too bad the closest strip club is two towns over." One of his friends disparaged, making a very sad puppy dog face. Another chuckled and quietly informed them,
"I've heard Joanie Marshall from the marketplace has a basement she charges an entry fee for but will give any paying costumer--or costumers--a good time." He grinned wickedly and whooped.
King smiled at his friends. He liked to hang out with people like them. They were stupid, focused on only a few things, and rich. They were exactly the kind of people King wasn't like--in his right mind. He hadn't, however, been in his right mind for three years. He rejected his right mind. He ignored good decisions and discernment and chose to play with the stupids, make irresponsible decisions, and do things that would have made his high schooler self shake his head.
This was what he'd chosen.
The teacher's eye was tugged away from his friends and food when someone new entered the diner. The place was popping tonight, so the entrance wasn't noticed by all, and letting his eyes linger wouldn't be particularly obvious.
A smile lit up on King's lips immediately as he recognized who it was. Damn, could she graduate already? He chose to ignore her and returned to doctoring his burger and fries, but one of his buds wouldn't let the exceptionally pretty girl go unnoticed. Their table was close to the door. It was a circular booth with plenty of room. He whistled at @blair.
"Hey pretty lady. Want some fries?" He waggled his brows. He was a founding family guy, so she'd probably know him, and he likely knew her, too. King sighed and shook his head, letting his gaze linger on his food extra long before he let himself look up at her. He didn't speak. His other friend did instead.
"Or a hot dog. Your pretty red lips would look good around a wiener."
Blair hadn't quite spotted King yet when someone from a nearby table spoke to her. She recognized the guy, he was from an important family. It had Blair feeling a little torn. Being from such an influential family should mean that he was a stand up guy. But a family's wealth didn't automatically make people well behaved, she knew that well enough. The same was that being from lower class didn't automatically make you a thug. Like MJ, she turned out really well in spite of her circumstances.
She found King sitting at the table pretty quickly after the first statement and she smiled in spite of herself. That changed the game too. At the following comment she sighed. It was like talking to a bunch of high school boys. Despite her flirty nature, Blair wasn't a slut...well, not really, not completely. She had slept with several people yes but she didn't just constantly put out or go to bed with just any ole person who called her pretty.
"Too bad you'll never find out." She said with a sassy smile to the wiener guy.
The first friend who had whistled covered his mouth and 'oooh'ed at her response to the second friend, who was grinned at her. It was all good-natured fun. Just because they were forward didn't necessarily mean they planned to take her to the backseat of their car...though if she was willing surely not a man in the diner would think twice. Not even King.
"I like this one. You're a Whittaker, right? I know your brother." He had a sly, sort of inside smile after saying that, but said nothing more of it. "Come on, have some fries, seriously." He nudged King, curious about why his friend hadn't join in on the fun. King raised his eyebrows at Blair.
"Join us if you like." His tone implied he didn't care either way. It was a small town and someone would surely know that he was a teacher and she a student, but it was a small town, so while they would notice it was also just how things happened. Everyone knew everyone. People dated who probably shouldn't or didn't have to in bigger places. While seeing her at a table with him might make someone frown, they wouldn't do anything about it unless they caught him with his tongue down her throat--which he didn't intend to do. At least not in the diner...
Blair settled a bit at the responses, they didn't seem like a threat and she was more than willing to be social and have some fun with these older guys. She absolutely had a thing for older guys, especially over high schoolers who were all still idiots. Girls on the other hand, she usually was more comfortable if they were her age. Not that anyone knew that she had any interest in girls.
She smiled and nodded at the one guy's question. Yes, she was a Whittaker. It was an added level of comfort that he knew her brother and at his continued invitation Blair grinned and shrugged her shoulders. Why not? She hadn't come into the diner for any other reason than because she knew King was here, so there wasn't anything she else she wanted to walk away to do.
Her gaze met King's with a bit of a question in her eyes, how would he feel about her presence. At his approval, or at least lack of disapproval, she smiled again. "Sure, why not." She said, and scooted onto one of the booth seats at the end and reaching to take the nearest fry. "You guys just getting started on your Saturday night plans or wrapping them up?" She asked, making conversation and making an effort not to look at King.
"I'm Jake." The founding family guy said. He pushed his plate towards Blair in order to share. "That's Bryan." He was referring to the friend who'd made the naughty joke. He winked at Blair. "That's King. Then again, you probably know that." He sniggered.
"Yeah, I teach her." King let them know, looking directly at Blair as he said so. "English. And detention, but that's another story." He smiled as the other two guys erupted in curiosity and the scandal of it all.
"What's your name, anyway? And tell me what girls at your school think of my man. I mean, his name's King." Jake was a talker. King smiled at Blair.
Blair took a bite from the fry and then rolled it in her fingers while she chewed and listened to the introductions. She huffed a little chuckle as Bryan winked at her, following the introductions around the table. She looked at King as he was 'introduced' and gave a little guilty shrug when he mentioned detention. She wouldn't deny it or defend herself. It had been a rather appropriate punishment, she had to give credit to the school, really.
She smiled back at King, she liked his smile. "Blair." She answered Jake. "And he's pretty popular with the most of the students. The 'cool' teacher. The girls definitely talk though." She admitted with a smile that made her cheekbones more prominent as she finished the fry in her hand and reached for another.
Jake was enjoying himself. He laughed loudly and declared,
"I like this girl! How come I never noticed you before?" He'd be inviting her to his parties in the future. He threw some of the largest and most ruckus ones around.
"Blair. Mmm." Bryan tested her name on his tongue. When he said it again it sounded as if he was in bed with her. "Blair. Sexy."
"He's only ever hungry or horny." King explained to Blair. It was a wonder how a simple sentence like that would be wildly inappropriate if he said it in class, but under these circumstances it was okay.
"That's very true." Bryan agreed, then focused on Blair. "Are you eighteen yet?"
Blair decided quickly that she liked Jake, he seemed fun and friendly. She playfully rolled her eyes at Bryan as he said her name like that. She might feel more anxious about it if she came across him alone in an alley or something, but in the middle of a crowded diner she could easily ignore his inappropriate comments and just accept the compliments. She was very beautiful after all, of course he would say things like that.
She chuckled at King's explanation of his friend. "Sounds exhausting." She replied. She pursed her lips with a smile at Bryan's question. "Why do you ask Bryan?" She asked, resting her elbow on the table with her chin on her upturned palm.
"Legalities." Bryan laughed, waving his hand through the air as if they were pesky flies buzzing around his fun. This time it was King's turn to chuckle.
"She isn't going to sleep with you." He let Bryan know. His friend, having been fed, was only horny right now. And testy, too. He frowned at King and blew air between his lips.
"Says who? You? The f*** are you? Her daddy?" Bryan was also the hothead of the group. That should have been included in his list of h description. Jake, always the peacemaker, raised a hand to their friend.
"Lay off, man. It's all in good fun. Blair's clearly headed somewhere. Where ya goin?" He was trying to change the subject. Bryan didn't want it changed but King rolled his eyes away from the friend and to Blair, welcoming the change.
Blair had been intending to actually answer his question abut as things got more tense and Jake changed the subject she decided that leaving the question unanswered seemed like a better idea. She gave King a subtle grateful look and made a note to be a bit weary of Bryan before answering Jake.
"I'm meeting up with some friends in an hour or so, not sure what we're doing yet to be honest." She said, licking the salt off of her index finger. "What about you guys? Heading somewhere after dinner?"
"Friends, huh? We're grabbing a bite and then heading out. Not sure where yet either. Maybe we could all hang..." He said it almost casually, making it easy for her to blow off his suggestion if he wanted to.
King inwardly groaned. Her friends were probably other high schoolers. It was one thing to grab dinner with one girl from one of his classes, but if this turned into something more it could all get really sticky. Not that sticky was always bad...
"As long as it isn't smack dab in the middle of town." King said quickly, making it apparent he wasn't entirely opposed to the idea. Bryan, who was now ignoring King so he wouldn't be angry, licked his lips and asked Blair,
Blair was quite pleased at Jake's suggestion that they all hang out together. This night was getting better and better. King jumped in with his requirement and she had to fight back the really large smile that was tempting to give her away. "Sure, I don't think they'd oppose." She said, lowering her gaze to the fry in her hand to keep the giddiness out of her expression.
King had a sinking feeling they were making a bad plan, or maybe walking into a trap, but he wanted to go. It was always more fun to be around girls with the guys than just guys. When it was only them they ended up getting drunk and watching stupid movies or doing stupid things. When girls joined the picture things got steamy.
"What if we went to the hotsprings?" Jakes suggested, a sly smile tugging on his lips.
"It's illegal to go after dark." Bryan said, though nothing about his tone implied it was a bad thing.
"Exactly." Jake said, looking to Blair with a mischievous smile. "You think your girls will dig it?"
The hot springs? Blair could not have imagined something better. How perfect! She grinned with an adventurous glint in her eye. She wasn't the kind to shy away from something that she probably shouldn't do. How much trouble would she really get in anyway? The worst that would happen would be that they would be told to leave.
"Without a doubt." She said with a fiery expression.
An hour later Blair pulled up to the hot springs with two of her friends. They had originally been going to meet with more but Blair had strategically cancelled on the two younger girls who hadn't yet turned 18. Instead she came with Veronica and Victoria, a pair of twins who had graduated the year before.
The three of them got out of the car but stood at the foot of the path to wait for the guys to show up. Blair wore a strappy black swim suit under her clothes and stood chatting with the girls while they waited. The excitement in the air between them was palpable.
