03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
It was a dark and stormy night...quite literally. Annika and Giacomo were on their way home from the gallery having closed up later than usual because Giacomo had been in the middle of a new piece and was feeling the flow too much to stop. It was only Annika who finally got fed up because she was hungry that she oh so lovingly convinced him to stop so they could go home.
His mind was still filled with all he wanted to do with the piece and he wasn't talking while he drove, raindrops cascading down on the windshield as the wipers were at their highest speed to keep up. With very few lights on this stretch of road it was very hard to see in the dark plus the rain. A deer suddenly leapt out in front of them causing Giacomo to swerve to avoid hitting it while he slammed on his breaks. However, the road was too slippery and he lost control. The car veered off the side of the road and they crashed right into the trunk of a pine tree.
Luckily, he had managed to slow down enough that it seemed to be a minor accident, nothing too severe. Still he looked to Annika instantly. "You aren't hurt are you?" he asked, though the bump hadn't been a big one. The airbag hadn't even gone off. He tried to restart the car but as he did the hood started to smoke and he quickly stopped before anything caught on fire.
If Annika had fed recently, then she could admit that she might not have been as hasty to push them out the door of the gallery that night. However, that wasn't the case and her usual patience and admiration for Giacomo's artistry was a little lower than it normally was. The side effects of her hunger were also a factor because she usually worked up a different appetite when she was aching to feed so it was truly a two-fold reason to get her lovely partner home.
Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperative and with her distracted thoughts, even she hadn't seen the deer until it was too late.
"I'm alright darling, but thank you." He really was the sweetest.
However the smoke coming up from the hood had the corners of her mouth pulling down at the sides, as she reached over to smooth away some of the frustrations. Shame, she really liked this car.
On this dark night Mikey was heading back from the mountains. He had learned his lesson about rain. So he cut what he was doing short when it started raining but the hike down the mountain had still taken a while. The weather had picked up and only gotten worse by the time he got on the road. He vaguely considered pulling over. He tried to just keep focused on the road. Not unsurprisingly the car in front of him was the only one he had seen on the road for a while. Its red tail lights only barely breaking through the dark haze of the rain.
In a blink and you miss it moment he watched the car veer wildly and then skidd off the road. It drove into a ditch in a way that Mikey recognized as very unfortunate for towing. Even if there was no damage which was unlikely, no amateur tow job was going to get that car off the tree and back up that slope even slight as it was with the ground this wet. Mikey frowned and turned the car around to pull up as close as he could, aiming his high beams at the stranded car. As terrible as the weather was, as much as he just wanted to just have a shower and go to bed, he knew he wouldn't be able to settle at home if he kept wondering if someone had been hurt. He pulled the hood up on his water resistant jacket and hopped out.
Mikey made his way to the driver side of the banked car as quickly as he could in the rain and mud. He knocked on the window with anxiety rolling his stomach. "Are you ok? Anybody hurt?" He half- yelled over the rain.

At least Annika had been unharmed, thank the heavens and the hells for that. Not that he doubted her recovery by any means. He was surprised though by the sudden beam of strong light coming in from the corner of the car, making his already pale skin nearly seem to glow. With heightened senses he heard the steps though of the man approaching the car before he knocked on the window. The light illuminated him too, casting him in an unearthly glow and caught each falling rain drop as it fell upon the stranger.
Giacomo managed to roll down the window, rain now coming in against the inner door handle and the left side of his body. "We're unharmed but I can't say the same for the car," Giacomo replied. He picked up his phone and saw that he'd somehow run the battery all the way to empty as it quite literally flickered to dark just as he checked it. "We probably ought to call a tow company to come grab us. Might I borrow your phone?" he asked the man, trying and failing to not be distracted by his own hunger...his thirst.
Annika, not one to ever care for the rain, was eyeing the falling water outside the car with a bit of distaste. She would much rather them be home where she could feed to her hearts content and slake her other thirst as well. Be it Giacomo or someone they both preferred, or even an entirely different set up. She wasn't too particular right now but the rain was putting quite the damper on things. Literally.
With the light coming in all of a sudden, she near hissed as she turned her head into Giacomo's shoulder as she raised her hand to block the sudden light. It'd been a little longer since her last feeding than normal so her reactions were a little sharper, hence turning her face into her partner's shoulder where her hair would block her for a moment to bring herself back under control before she lifted her head.
Looking very much the petite, doe-eyed gentlewoman that she portrayed in the public eye, her gaze flickered from Giacomo to the stranger.
The light reflected off the two pale figures in the car in a way that was between erie and ethereal. If he hadn’t seen the both of them in passing then he would have assumed they were tourists. They had a distinctly….'not from here' type of look. He hadn’t ever spoken to either of them though. Unharmed was an interesting choice of words, but if the fancy looking dude was calm enough to speak so …eloquently then that was probably a sign he was right. He reached into his pocket as if to pulled out his phone and hand it over. Instead he stopped and shook his head with a frown. "I can let you borrow it, but even if you call one of the out of town guys they won't come out in this storm." It looked like the lady he was with was a bit shaken but who wouldn't be. That much was a relief. If either of them had been injured it wasn’t a super quick drive to the local hospital. He looked between the both of them with uncertainty then back out at the dark abyss beyond his jeeps headlights. He gestured to his car. "Look, let me give you a ride. I know a guy that can tow it in the morning." Said guy being his dad. Honestly even if they had someone they could call to come get them it seemed like a hazard to let them to ask someone else to try to drive in this.
The rain was still coming down hard without any signs of stopping soon.

As Annika leaned into him, Giacomo automatically rested his hand against her outside leg, holding her closer. He was about to make a retort about at least needing the man's phone to call someone who could help as they couldn't well just sit here and wait until morning or until the rain stopped. Instead, a unexpected offer cut short his retort.
A ride. And the offer of someone specific to help them later on. Though the ride was the particularly interesting part at the moment. Forget the car when there was someone right here so eager to offer their services. He didn't need to look at Annika to know she'd approve of this turn of events. "Are you sure you don't mind?" Giacomo asked, playing just a bit coy.
The thought of having to wait out this horribly timed storm was not a pleasant one. For one, she'd dealt with having to walk through horrid downpours a few too many times to even consider it an option. It was disgustingly wet and cold and definitely not kind to her hair or wardrobe. Her gaze flicked to the storm outside as Giacomo held her closer before coming back to rest on Mikey's face, just past Giacomo's profile.
"It wouldn't be too much trouble?" She'd been playing the young woman, fragile and as though she needed comfort or protection, for centuries now so it was practically natural as she gazed up from her side of the car. If Giacomo hadn't jumped on the opportunity, she certainly would have done so herself. "We can compensate you for it."
The offer was met with a little hesitance. He was a stranger. Funnily enough it did not even occur to him that offering a ride to a stranger was equally dangerous for him. The offer to compensate threw him off a little but only in finding out that they both spoke in that strangely eloquent tone of voice. Maybe it was a European thing. They both seemed foreign or at least not from here. Actually with the unique fashion mixed with the dramatic lighting they didn't look like they were from anywhere. At least not recently. "It's no big deal really." He added to reassure them "and don't worry about it. " wherever they were going couldn’t be that far, and also they were going to be paying his dad for a tow letter anyway. "I'll uh wait in the jeep." He gestured to his car a little eager to get out of the rain. Then he turned and sort of half jogged to the jeep. He got into the driver side and shuffled around some of the loose gear. His car wasn't dirty persay but it always ended up a little cluttered with outdoors equipment. He didn't usually have a reason to be embarrassed about if the inside of the car was tidy. He flipped back the rain jacket hood and ran a hand through his now fairly wet hair. Honestly he was more wet from getting back to his car at the mountain but he was thrilled to be wet again when he had only just begun to dry off.
He waited for the two of them to settle into the car before giving an expectant look. "Sooo, where to?"

Giacomo nodded to the young man before he moved back to his car and he turned to look at his dear Annika with a growing smile finally gracing his lips. "A little treat for you, love?" he said with mischief in his gaze. He foolishly had forgotten to bring an umbrella so he removed the long jacket he wore before getting out of the car and moving quickly to Annika's side of the car.
As she exited he kept it over her head to keep her from getting wet and with a hand on her waist they were almost immediately beside the jeep, using the dark and rain and the man's hopeful distraction to keep the super speed from being too noticeable. Opening the door for Annika he of course let her sit in the front before he climbed into the back, running a hand through his now long wet hair as Annika gave the man directions.
