03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
Another day dawned, another day of school. The bus picked up the Sunny Heights kids, and at the end of the school day it dropped them off once more.
Ellis D. with one strap of his backpack hanging lazily off his shoulder, stepped off of the bus, relieved to be free of all the sounds and smells. He'd sat with Bethany, as usual, but after descending the stairs he found himself walking close to Casey.
Rather than starting up a conversation, Ellis D. glanced towards the other dude, gauging whether conversation was on the menu right now.

Casey begrudgingly got off of the bus and started towards the trailer. He had gotten in trouble once again and the dumb school took away his driving privileges. Casey was well aware that Ellis D was close beside him. It made a smile from on his lips. “Ellis D.” He never missed an opportunity to try to recruit the other male to the bloodrose pack. Honestly he was kind of fond of the kid. “ You have any plans tonight?” He asked.

Ellis D. caught the smile. He reciprocated it, though his had less intention behind it. Just a smile.
“Uhh, homework, then a shift at the urgent care later tonight.” So he was busy. But the curiosity in him compelled him to quickly ask, “But why?” Because Ellis D. would drop homework if he was tempted enough.

Casey rolled his eyes slightly at the mention of homework. Of course he had it as well, but would he do it… that was a big no. He would rather stick his tongue in a mouse trap. The smile returned to his face when Ellis d asked why. “Homework is for nerds. You need to live a little.” He looked straight ahead and cringed internally. The door to the trailer swung open and out wobbled his uncle, beer and cigarette in hand. “Come with me.” He nodded his head towards the back of the trailer, where the 1989 firebird was parked. His boss had lent him a car on the promise that his uncle would never be allowed to drive it.

”Uh, nerds and seniors who want to graduate.” Ellis D. mumbled, it committed to the rebuttal but speaking it aloud anyway. His eyes rose to the uncle as he emerged, an unfriendly expression easily falling over his face. He hated all the adults that made the lives of him and his peers crappy. His own mother included. At Casey’s suggestion, he was all too eager to follow.
“My night shift starts at 8.” He said it offhandedly, because while he was down to skip homework, he had to work to get paid, and his sister needed the money. He’d climb into the car if Casey welcomed him to.

Casey noted the seniors who wanted to graduate part of the comment. He knew that he was at risk of failing. But really.. how was he expected to do his homework with drunko yelling around. He shook his head to himself.
“8” he noted the time to himself. As he walked around to the drivers side of the door. “I’ll have you there on time Cinderella.” He winked and got into the car. He wasn’t sure where they were going. Anywhere was better than there. Casey started the engine and waiting for Ellis D to get in.

Ellis D. hopped in, grinning good-naturedly at being called Cinderella. In fact, they were both Beasts, weren’t they?
Try to be told, he didn’t want to go home either. It would be nice to see MJ but for all his sisters’ disabilities she knew how to hold her own against their mother. She’d had to learn.

Casey eased out if the parking spot and onto the road. He never knew when his uncle would jump out and make a dent in the car. He didn’t answer the question just yet. He kept his focus on the road and relaxed. Driving always had that effect on him. “If you were part of the pack, I would take you to the hang out.” It was a shady dive bar, but he didn’t think that was quite Ellis Ds thing. “We’ll grab some food. I’m starving.” He knew Ellis D had to be hungry as well. You could never satisfy the beast with enough food.

Part of the pack. That thing Ellis D. wanted to join, in theory, but hadn’t brought himself to just yet. Though there was a tugging. A longing to be a part of what they were, to have the family to howl at the moon with. Oh, how he wanted it. But his human self struggled hard against the urge. He knew they would ask things of him. Expect commitment. Ellis D. already had more on his plate than he should.
“Okay, cool.” He said quietly, wondering how much cash he had in his wallet. Eating out wasn’t cheap. He wasn’t rich. But he wasn’t going to say anything. Casey was being a friend, and Ellis D. was leaning in.
“Do you ever think about just moving out?” He was thinking about Casey’s uncle. There were few secrets in the trailer park.

Casey pulled off of the main road and down a long dirt road. He thought about going into town to grab some grub, but decided against it. He wasn’t in the mood for crowds. Ellis Ds question caught him off guard for a moment. “Nah, you know no one gets out of the trailer park.” He gave him a grin as they pulled up to a cabin in the middle of no where. “ I’ve been saving up. What about you?” He was genuinely curious. He knew the living situations of everyone in the trailer park. Nothing was a secret there. He killed the engine and turned his attention to Ellis D for his reply.

Ellis D. smirked at Casey's joke, but it was also a pretty sad joke, wasn't it? It was true, generational poverty was very much a thing. Generational alcoholism and drug abuse, too. The best thing they could hope for was not to follow the same path. Or, maybe to do it with a bit more class.
"Nah, man, I've got my sister." If Ellis D. was the sharing type he might have launched into the life he and MJ had lived before, without their mother...but he wasn't about to. Not with Casey. Not here and now.
His eyes found the cabin. One brow rose on his forehead as he glanced back at the other wolf.

Carey nodded and took mental note of Ellis Ds motivation. His sister. Casey could respect that. He had been an only child, and wondered how much a sibling to protect would have changed his life.
“This is one of the pack houses. The alpha keeps it stocked with food and the lights on.” He gave the other wolf a wink before stepping out of the car. He walked to the front door and put the passcode into the key pad, unlocking the door. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it was safe.
He stepped into the house and headed straight for the fridge. “Looks like we are in luck. Someone must have just scored a deer.” He smiled as he took the meat out of the fridge and placed it on the stove.

Pack. Ellis D. immediately felt a little less comfortable. He'd been courted by the packs for some months now, but hadn't made up his mind. Or, really, he was too busy to want to get involved...and yet there was that tug, that innate desire to belong. So it was with hesitancy and eagerness, the two waging war within him, that he stepped out of the car, taking a big whiff in. Oh yeah, he should have been able to smell that pack scent before. He was a terrible wolf.
The cabin was pretty fancy by the standard of the young man who was living in a dilapidated trailer. And the thought of food being stocked was mouth watering in itself. He watched with hungry eyes as Casey casually put meat on the stove.
"They just let you show up and eat whenever you want?" The disbelief in his voice was thick.

Casey picked up on the tone of the other males voice and smiled to himself. " We dont have much, but we take care of our own." It was known fact that his pack didnt have near the resources of the other pack. That was okay though, it didnt take much to keep him happy. Casey began pulling spices from the cupboards and a frying pan from under the sink. It wasnt often that he was able to cook for someone else, and honestly he loved it. He may have been showing off a bit to impress Ellis D, but he would never admit to it.
"You ever have deer steak?" he asked as he finished the dry rub of seasoning and plopped the meat into the frying pan. Casey moved to the fridge and pulled out two beers, before putting them down on the table. He opened his own and nodded for Ellis D to take the other one. "I know that you've been under pressure to join a pack." he paused and took a sip of his beer. "But just forget about that right now." He could see how this little field trip could have seemed like an ambush of recruitment. In truth, this was his safe space, he knew that he wasnt supposed to bring outsiders in, but he had a feeling his Alpha would understand.
As the meat cooked and the smell took over the cabin, an idea popped into his brain. " I have an Xbox. A new one." he smiled almost child like. He could never have anything that nice back at the trailer, his uncle would have destroyed it. Not to mention, he couldn't afford anything that nice. "Do you want to play it?"

Ellis D. didn't know what to make of all this. The only other person who had gone out of their way to make him feel good this way was Madison, and she was getting something from him (he'd made her feel good in other ways). Furthermore, when he was instructed to forget about joining a pack, he was plunged deeper into disbelief. Casey didn't want anything from him? He was being...sincere?
Taking the beer, Ellis D. easily popped the cap off using his hand and took a small swig, watching as Casey masterfully rubbed and began frying the meat.
"No, I can't say I have." He responded quietly when asked about the deer meat. At the mention of the xbox, the electronic device he didn't even dream of owning, a small smile crept onto his face. Who didn't love video games every now and then?
"Hell yeah, man." His grin grew larger, more authentic.
