03.2023 | WELCOME BACK! Hello friends old and new! I'm so excited to welcome you all back to SITW! I've made some changes to the plot and added the ability to play supernatural charcaters! So come and check it out! I can't wait to jump back into this little town with all of you!
A strange history surrounds the town, it is a place where mysterious and supernatural things have been known to happen. The reputation of the town reguarly draws in visitors and newcomers alike. While some residents avidly believe in the supernatural, others are far more skeptical. What do you believe?
Milo had not been paying all that much attention during his last period, which was history. He couldn't wait til school was history but the thought made his stomach twist. He hadn't done well enough to graduate and would have to repeat his senior year. It didn't exactly make it any easier to focus now if he knew he had to repeat it all anyway. Instead his mind wandered to what he'd rather be doing. The list was pretty long. Just about anything was better than sitting in this boring ass classroom.
When the bell finally rang he was one of the first up and out of his seat, not wanting to give the teacher a chance to ask to talk to him or something. Sling his backpack over one shoulder he slipped out of the room with the sound of the bell still echoing in the halls. He headed where he always did after school. Not his own locker, which he was pretty sure he hadn't even opened at all this week, but rather to Bethany's.
When he spotted her there he grinned and slipped up behind her, moving to poke both of his fingers into her sides right under her ribs.

Study hall: the breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale day. Bethany couldn’t remember that last time she’d gone to the *actual* class. First thing she’d done at the beginning of the semester was ask the Journalism teacher—Ms. Morrisey—to make her a “student aid.” Ms. Morrisey, who cared about the rules even less than Bethany did, agreed, and since then she’d used the hour to go wherever she damn well pleased—so long as she stayed out of trouble.
Which she did. Most of the time.
Bethany slung her backpack over to her front, slipping her beloved camera from her locker to put it into its open mouth.
It was at that moment Milo hit his target. She squealed and pulled her arms against her sides, nearly dropping her camera in the process. Mercifully it fell into the backpack instead of onto the floor—not that it stopped Bethany from shooting Milo a scolding look.
“Anyone ever tell you to keep your hands to yourself?” By the time she’d finished speaking, Bethany couldn’t keep a smile from her lips anymore.
Milo laughed as she squealed, target successful! He hadn't noticed the camera of course and there was a part of him that felt bad for putting it at risk once he realized she'd had it. But he wasn't going to say that out loud.
"Sure, all the time," he teased her with a bad boy smirk, running his fingers through his curly hair before leaning his elbow against the locker. Of course he was subtly flexing his muscles as he did so, looking casually handsome. He was always doing little things like this to try to get her attention, hoping for even the smallest of lingering looks.
But she was smiling at him soon enough, in spite of her earlier scowl. "Bus or walking today? Or...do you have a ride?" he asked.

Bethany rolled her eyes in an exaggerated fashion. Her eyes flickered for a moment to his muscled arms before she redirected them again to his stupid grin. How some people could look like Milo without even trying was one of the world’s great injustices.
“No ride,” Bethany sighed, slinging her backpack over her shoulders, “Bus is still a petri dish…so yeah, gonna walk. Try to beat the rain.” She looked over at Milo with a tilted head. “You?”
Milo grinned as she rolled her eyes. Even when she was annoyed she was cute. It wasn't fair. But he'd take her eye rolling at him than giving flirty eyes at Ellis D. any day. Sure, they all got along great, but that didn't mean that sometimes Milo didn't get...jealous. Especially since they started working together at the General Store. Knowing they were there without him was one of his life's greatest discomforts. Which was why he often showed up when they were both working a shift to annoy them keep them company until the manager got annoyed with his distractions and told him to leave.
"Ew gross. It's supposed to rain again?" He groaned in a loud and exaggerated fashion. "Is it summer yet?!" He was so over being cold and wet. He couldn't wait until it warmed up and all the girls started wearing more revealing clothing.
"I drove actually," he said with a proud little grin to be able to offer such a luxury. "Care for a lift?" He waggled his eyebrows enticingly.

Bethany, woefully oblivious to any additional sparkle that might be behind Milo’s grin, pulled up her pants by the belt loops before turning and leaning her back against the locker.
“Not yet, princess,” Bethany teased, “Mother nature moves at her own pace. So careful you don’t get your tiara wet.” The offer of a ride had her changing her attitude entirely. The surly Bethany brightened as she pushed herself off the locker.
“Well don’t mind of I doooo.” Bethany would follow wherever he lead, a little extra spring in her step.
At her comment, Milo stood up taller and let out a huff before jutting out his chin cockily and pretending to adjust an imaginary tiara on top of his head. "This thing is priceless, as you well know," he teased.
But the way she so happily accepted his offer of a ride had him just tickled with pleasure and he grinned in response, leading the way down the hallway. He wanted so badly to intertwine his fingers with her as they walked or even just to have her tuck her hand against his elbow. The thought made his stomach flutter. It also made him want to move faster in case Ellis D. was anywhere around here and might decide to tag along.
When they exited the school it was cloudy but nothing had begun to fall from the sky just yet. Milo put his hand out, palm up, to feel for any drips. "So far so good," he joked. "You working tonight?" he asked conversationally as they walked towards the parking lot.

Bethany, short as she was, had to take two steps for every one of Milo’s. But she kept up, emerging into the blustery overcast afternoon with a contented sigh, as if she’d been holding her breath. Bethany skipped a couple of steps in her contentment before falling back into a steady pace at Milo’s side.
When Milo asked about her schedule, Bethany did her best to look discontented, but the effort was half-hearted at best.
“Yeah. Big bummer, but Kristie needed a shift picked up and, well,” Bethany smirked, looking at Milo, “You know me, I’m just a big softy.”
Though both of them knew that was hardly the case.
Most teenager complained about having to go to work. Though nearly all of them were actually happy to at least be bringing in some dough that they usually spent on things like alcohol, weed, or other junk. So it wasn't hard to notice that Bethany's tone wasn't quite as unhappy about working as was typical. Milo was so tempted to ask if Ellis D. was also working tonight, but he ultimately decided that he 1) didn't want to know and 2) was pretty sure he already knew the answer. What did she see in him that she didn't see in Milo? No. He shook the thought from his head as they neared his car.
"The biggest softy there is," he teased and opened the door for her before moving around to his side before she had fully got in, trying to play the gentleman but in the most casual way that he could. "I guess I'll have to find someone else to entertain me," he joked as he started up the engine. It wasn't exactly quiet but Milo didn't mind. He didn't need to have the nicest car to just be proud to have one at all and the noise drew just enough attention to soak it in rather than be embarrassed by it.
"Maybe I can convince Juniper to stop studying long enough to hang out," he commented, silently hoping Bethany might be even the tiniest jealous.

Bethany dropped into the passenger’s seat with a little huff. Milo’s car was junk, but as far as Bethany was concerned it was a chariot. In the hands of a teenager, the keys to a car were the keys to the kingdom. With wheels, the world was your oyster. She shuffled her stuff into her lap and kicked out a space for her feet on the floor.
At the mention of Juniper, Bethany blushed a little. She was jealous, though more in a general sense than one specific to Milo. Jealous, because Milo had more charisma in one pinky than she had in her entire body. Jealous, because he could so easily snag pretty doe-eyed girls like Juniper. Jealous, because pretty girls like Juniper existed, and she didn’t get to be one of them.
“Oh I’m sure you’ll find a way,” Bethany chuckled before putting on her best over-the-top Milo impression. “Hey Junie, how about you and me go back to your house and break out the calc book so I can study those cuuuuuurves.” She groped an invisible woman and snickered.
Milo snorted out a loud laugh as he put the car into gear. "Damn Bethany! That's a good line! I'm gonna have to steal that one for sure," he said, still laughing. He tossed the curls resting on his forehead out of the way with a shake of his head as they pulled out of the parking spot and into the line to get out of the lot. Just a line of 15 other cars before they could officially claim freedom from school for the day.
He punched the button to turn on the radio and they were immediately blasted with some classic rock. Milo rushed to turn down the volume. "Forgot I had it up so loud," he said with a sheepish grin as the song ended and an ad began to play.

Bethany's eyes lingered on Milo's curls as he shook them from his forehead, somehow looking both scruffily touseled and intentionally placed. Some people had all the luck. She wondered idly what it would be like to be Milo; to be so effortlessly good-looking and at home in your own skin. Or so it would appear from the outside looking in.
Wiggling to get more comfy in her seat, Bethany propped her knees up on the dash in front of her. When the music turned on, her legs swung and her shins smacked against the glovebox. "Mary mother," Bethany swore, rubbing her shins, "You know you're really gonna cause some long-term damage with it up like that."
A new song began to play: Woman of the World by Aerosmith. Bethany began to sing along with pitchy enthusiasm, strumming a fake guitar.
(Listened to that song while I did this reply ^.^ )
Milo grinned cockily as Bethany chided him. "WHAT?!" he shouted too loudly on purpose. "I couldn't hear you over the sound of this bad ass beat!" he said, still loud and mocking. In his opinion it was worth any potential damage to his ear drums. He wanted the music loud enough that he could feel it. Of course that was always easier and more satisfying when he was high but was still worth it when he wasn't.
When a new song came on and Bethany began to sing, Milo simply beamed as he watched her, inching along down the line of cars as they waited to exit into traffic. She was so cool. Did she really not know what a catch she was? Soon enough he joined her, bumping up the volume of the music again but not so loud as to drown out their voices and jammed enthusiastically with her.
